Well its unfortunate it isnt a open qualifier but I can understand why it wouldnt be for time constraint. I feel some great players will be neglected like scott and myself(whom are better then some of the guys who are eligable to qualify) but im sure the right people will make the team in the end.
agreed, lets be serious EC vs WC will most likely happen anyway, we only need 1 team canada

maybe invite 16 players at the qualifiers instead of only 8? 16 man double elim tourney with a lot of setups can easily be done on friday.
lap chi is doing a good job trying to include every region, so let’s use his system to determine the first 8 players
then for the last 8 spots, invite anyone that:
-made it out of pools at Evo this year
-or got top 8 at an AE major
anyone that fits one of those 2 criteria is certainly good enough to play at the qualifier
made it out of pools at evo: snafoo (25th evo) riceata (48th evo), jozhear = 3 players
AE top 8 at a major: fei long + yang + fuerte from montreal all these guys had top 8 in AE at T12 or US majors, 2 toronto guys who got top 8 at T12 = 5 players
if some of the guys from 2nd list were already on lap chi’s first list then use the freed up spots to invite other players that had success in AE
If the EC vs WC thing does happen it will be interesting to see how the teams will be chosen cause I get the feeling a qualifer system would be very time consuming.

maybe have a last chance single elim (double elim if you have the time) qualifier for the 5th last spot? or last 8th qualifier spot.
only if it was done gladiator style where if you wanted in top players gave the thumb up or thumb down caesar style.

Can I run the qualifiers for making Team Canada? I just want the power to veto people from qualifying and wasting time.
He placed top 8 in singles for sf4 at tst6 so I agree he is another good player. Easily another top guy in Sask, but of course I’m gonna have to nominate myself:)

I finally got home from work, and it has been a long day. I don’t think we can do a open qualifiers just because it would be unfair to everyone that had won a pre-qualifiers. In order to be fair I will have to cancel all the votes on who should be on the qualifiers since there was no actual commitment for it. If you want a spot then you should earn it, if you couldn’t make it out to a previous events for qualifiers then theres nothing much I can do. But what I can do is change the votes to a tournament to get winners into the qualifiers.
Winners of Calgary Sunday Ranbats will be playing qualifiers: will keep the same because of previous commitments
Winners of Blue like Candy will be playing in qualifiers (Khoa): will keep the same because of previous commitments
Winners of VSB road to CC2011 will be playing in qualifiers: will keep the same because of previous commitments
2 top players from TO will be entering qualifiers Sponsored by CCG and Omega Collectables: will keep the same because of previous commitments
Winners of Mtl Qualifiers will be on Team Canada and 2nd place will be playing in qualifiers: will keep the same because of previous commitments
Which leaves 2 spots for qualifiers:
We’ll do an open tournament for this, since people had play in tournaments/ranbats/previous winnings to get into the qualifiers. Not everyone can join, invitational and good SSF4AE credentials. Only 1st and 2nd place can play for qualifying team Canada. This will be a double elimination tournament.
Sorry guys this will be final. I won’t make any changes after this, even if people think its unfair. Bottem line if you are good enough, you’ll be on the team.
Friday Nov 4th
8:00 pm will be the double elimination tournament 1st and 2nd will earn spots for the qualifiers
9:30 pm 8 people will be playing for 3 spots on team Canada, seeding will be by region. (for some reason if a qualifier can not attend CC2011 the 3rd spot from the 8pm double elimination tournament will play in his place and so on)

Honestly, it’s only really unfortunate for the players who can’t hang (like me) 
Well some guys who are good just don’t get out enough to tournnaments. Luck of the draw in that regard but I suppose since this format is going by tournament history the most deserving people are getting a shot. For guys like me it sucks but meh, guess I’ll have to come out more often next year.
