Except where otherwise stated, we will use Evo Championship Series rules as laid out here: http://evo.shoryuken.com/evo-player-guide/

Rules:

  • Double elimination
  • If the game is paused accidentally or on purpose by a player, the opponent will be awarded that game, unless it is clear that gameplay could not have been affected (for example, in the middle of an ultra animation) or if the opponent agrees to continue playing.
  • SSF4AE: 2/3 rounds, 2/3 games (3/5 grand finals). The winner of a game may change ultra (not character).
  • UMVC3: 3/5 games (including grand finals). The winner of a game may NOT change assist types, characters, or order. “Auto super jump” disabled. No “simple mode”.

Please bring your own fight sticks or controllers. Otherwise, you will need to convince someone to let you borrow theirs. If you want to use a PlayStation controller, it is your responsibility to supply your own converter.

We will use location-based seeding (if necessary). This means that if you and your friend(s) enter the tournament together, you will be spread out in the bracket so that you don’t play each other early in the tournament. Make sure that you let us know while signing up on the day of the tournament if this applies to you so we can create the bracket appropriately.

Please let me know if you have any questions/comments. Hope to see you there!

Wait not even Persona?

Who do you know that will soft commit to entering for Persona? I don’t want to run a game unless it will get at least 8 entrants.

We can always run side tournaments though if enough people show up for a game.

I don’t even know of 8 guys who are confirmed to go to the event let alone what games.

But if it was there and wasn’t going on during MLG I know of.
Me
Mike if he comes
Kenny?
Matt aka Foxstep im sure
Chris im sure
Joey im sure
Taylor maybe if he came
Tyler maybe

Than i know a few who talk about it but have never played em so who knows. And than anyone i don’t even know who might.

[S]I’m considering pushing the date back two weeks to not conflict with MLG Dallas.[/S] Nevermind, not happening. Date will remain November 3!

Do whatever you gotsta do man.

I point to point out that Kenny ant Tim were both “def” for the KoF tournament, and both did not enter!

Edit: Tim made it in time for SC though!

I also play P4A actively while only a training mode monster for KoF.

Why? Because IT HAS GOOD ONLINE.

Kenny told me he wouldn’t enter P4A, and Matt is going to MLG Dallas.

lol i know, that’s why i said If it wasn’t during MLG Dallas as well.

Dun matter, seems like the better date anyway. Also Kenny blows goats

I’d play some Persona. A button is op!

The FGC vs the casinos is going to be a 10-0 matchup. I hope it’s in our favor lol

[S]Those of you who have been to a tournament at Cactus Jack’s before know that it can be difficult to hear the game sounds because of loud music from the nearby DDR machines and jukebox. Some people rely on the game sound for combo timing and/or reacting, so starting this tournament we will have headphone splitters with independent volume control available for all setups. If you want to be able to hear the game audio, you must bring your own standard 1/8" jack (not USB) headphones to use. We will not be providing headphones for you. If you have any questions about this, please let me know.[/S]

Edit: I’ve decided against this for now. There won’t be headphones used at the tournament this time as I have not given enough advanced notice. However, if you’d like to see headphones used at future tournaments please let me know so I can get feedback on what people want. Thanks.

Can we unplug the splitter if we’d like to try our luck listening to the game via the speakers?

Yeah, if neither player wants to use headphones, that’s fine. But if one wants to use headphones and the other doesn’t, then it’s an issue because you can’t have the monitor audio and headphones working at the same time as far as I can tell. Do you have any suggestion on how to deal with that situation?

I could buy some cheap speakers to use in that situation I suppose (something like this), but that is starting to get overly complicated.

Default should be speakers. let both players use headphones if they agree.

I think many sticks also have an audio port if they want.

I forgot Xbox has that. Are you sure you can get game audio over that? I thought it was only for voice chat.

Edit: It’s only for voice chat.

Just to clarify, it’s either going to be headphones are the default, or headphones aren’t going to be allowed at all for anyone. I’m not going to half ass it.

I’ve decided against this for now. There won’t be headphones used at the tournament this time as I have not given enough advanced notice. However, if you’d like to see headphones used at future tournaments please let me know so I can get feedback on what people want. Thanks.
