Today I’m here to make a big announcement that I hope changes the future of Guilty Gear. Today I would like to announce the start of the Guilty Madness tournament, largely inspired by the Curly Mustache series of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 fame. The Curly Mustache series are a group of tournaments put together by the infamous IFC Yipes as a high stakes tournament, with an entry fee of $25, all of which goes to the pot. [FONT=Verdana]In addition, though unlike Guilty Madness, you can only enter Curly Mustache via invite. It was also the tournament series that introduced what became the 3/5 standard for Marvel 3. With an event like this, I hope to inspire older and prospective hardcore players, as well as put on a great show for people thinking about getting into the game, wanting to see high level performances, and even just entertain the masses. At the very least, one of the grand finales to Accent Core before we welcome Accent Core plus R.
Details:
The tournament will take place on Saturday, November 17th at 5 PM, and will be located at Next Level (4013 8th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY).
Entry fee like Curly Mustache will be $25 with a usual venue of $10, with the addition of a $500 POT BONUS thrown in by myself, an extra $100 POT BONUS thanks to Brokentier, an additional $177 POT BONUS by Light Nazgul, and a $111 POT BONUS from Sogos, making a total of $888! Unlike Curly Mustache, there will be no invitations – everyone is free to come and play if they want to prove they’re the best.
Rounds will be 2/3, and ALL matches will be 3/5. Of course, no EX/Shadow/Gold characters, and no Kliff and Justice (yet).
In addition, on behalf of NY, I’m throwing down the open challenge. Gather your best out of state folk and come down for an exhibition. Any region or combination. Any number of players. The challenge is yours to answer. This will kick off the event on stream.
Speaking of the stream, it will be handled by Min of Team Spooky fame, on the main Team Spooky URL. The URL is http://twitch.tv/teamsp00ky
So that’s it! Great games, great players, great prizes! What else do you need? Get out and spread and word!
