This is a special, one night only Windy City Showdown event. Because a dear member of the Chicago community, Steve “Limbo” Lim, will be leaving for good that Friday, we’ll be holding a 3rd-day Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 tournament as part of Thursday’s at GGA. It’s the best way to say hello and goodbye at the same time.

Because this is Limbo’s and UMvC3’s night, it will be the only tournament taking place. There should still be enough room for casuals for people not entering the tournament who want to play Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, or Tekken. This info will be reiterated in the next couple paragraphs as we start the run-down.

The Tournaments: One will be held, in** Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3**.

The Setups: PLEASE BRING EQUIPMENT! If you have a system, game disc, monitor, or cables and you can bring them to the event, please do. We want to make sure we have enough set-ups for both the tournament matches as well as casuals. Be sure to bring your own stick or pad as well.

The Systems: UMvC3 will be held on both systems, but stream matches will be held only on XBox 360. Please be prepared to have to play matches on both systems, especially the 360 since it’s more common and will be preferred. If your controller only permits you to play on one system, please inform the tournament organizer when you sign up for the tournament.

The Price: Entry is $5 for the tournament plus a $5 venue fee. Venue fee should be paid to the front desk upon entering Galloping Ghost Arcade. The tournament entry fee should be paid upon signing up for entry into the bracket(s).

The Payout: The tournament will pay 70/20/10 for top 3 finishers, plus a bonus $5 (for 16-31 entrants) or $10 (for 32 or more entrants) each to all top 4 finishers.

The EVEN NEWER UPDATED Schedule:
3:30 pm - Venue doors open
6:30 pm - Most people arrive
8:00 pm - Sign-up starts
9:00 pm - UMvC3 tournament begins**
**
Early Sign-up: If you do not think that you will be able to make it to the venue on time or you would just prefer to have your name entered early, please notify the tournament organizer ahead of time (see below) so you will be entered into the bracket.
**
The Rules:** The tournament will be are double elimination. Matches are best 2 out of 3 games format. After a game, the losing player may change his team and/or assists. The winning player play may not change his team or his assists. Grand finals will be best 3 out of 5 games. PS3 Dualshock Wireless controllers are permitted only with a connecting cord and with the understanding that they must remain off when they are not being used. If any irregularities or disputes occur, the players involved should attempt to resolve them among themselves. If they cannot, only then may it be referred to the tournament organizer.

The Stream: Stream will be provided by Medina4Life, www.justin.tv/medina4life.

Limbo and I hope to see everyone (and I mean everyone) there.

There should be a special event called “How Low Can You Go!!” It would be an event where everyone lines up to play our buddy Limbo in one last game.

Just a thought.

Bye Limbo!! I hope you and Mrs. Kim Lim have a good time in NC.

“How Low Can You Go” I already play Phoenix there isn’t much lower that I can go.

Although according to Viscant, playing Phoenix is a ‘Premium’ for higher level players because they need to be exceptional with their other 2 characters in order to allow Dark Phoenix to happen.

Anyway, I support the Limbo v Illinois exhibition

Chicago is a good place.

I would say I want limbo to expose me, but is there really anything to expose if everyone already knows you are bad?

Hope everyone can make it. If not for the tourney, then just to hang out. It’s gonna be a really fun night.

It’s today! Please bring systems, games, and monitors!
