Not Only Final Destination! - Stages Discussion

The stages that I like are:

-Mario Circuit
-Wario Ware
-Lylat Cruise
-Delfino
-Spear Pillar
-Pictochat
-Frigate Orpheon

I agree with everyone who hates New Pork City, but the reason I don’t like it is because it’s hard to see the platforms (and the characters). Otherwise, I don’t mind the fact that it’s large. I like Hyrule Temple.

You know what stage is bananas? The Mario Bros. one. Seriously, those crabs will fuck you up.

Favorite stages so far:
-Delfino Plaza
-Spear Pillar
-Pictochat
-Norfair
-Wario Ware
-Haenbow

New Pork City isn’t that bad, but I wouldn’t play on it too often.

Ugggh…Spear Pillar, I remember playing Tiggy’s Pit there…First time I ever played there(I killed Lucario REALLY quick when I unlocked it) and the game had some spikes of lag, then. Bowser, was going the opposite direction Im all “LOLWTFFF!?” and I ended up upBing Bowser WAAAAAAY out in right field. I then realized it was the stage that fucked me up. And decided then, to hate on it forever! lol.

Not a fan of warioware(arf arf FAIL! youz gotz starmenz!? HO NOES!), pictochat(spikes <3 bowser) or Hannenbow(…you serious!?) either. Add New Pork City, 75m, Mario Bros., Flat Zone 2, Rumble Falls and Hyrule Temple, you have the list of stages I have turned off :D!

all the other ones, Im now cool with.

I was excited last night, because I turned off all items, and it seemed like the Wario Ware stage wasn’t rewarding people with items that were turned off. Then about 5 minigames in, I actually did see a star reward : ( still not SUPER game breaking I don’t think.

Spear Pillar, on the other hand, just makes me LOL. Reversing controls is hillarious.

Is there a way to save Nintendo’s stage of the day since they change every day? I messed around and couldn’t figure out how.

Smashville is my favorite neutral level. Good tunes, good times.

I made a TON of stages and i love sending them out.if you want to get any add me

**
You gotta add both to get stuff**.So if you have one and not the other let me know through PM.

Is Green Hill Zone viable, or is the checkpoint thing/breakable floors too random? Also, are the Pokemon Stadium stages still viable?

Like:
Castle Siege: Awesome setting and epic music (helped by how I set up Attack and Agains the Dark Knight as the most common themes).

Shadow Moses: Battle in the Base is too epic of a fight song! Nice, different setting which changes your strategy.

Delfino: Pretty fun level in general.

Pirate Ship: How can you not like being lifted up by a tornado and fighting on an airborne ship?

Dislike:
New Pork City: Too big, insta-death wierd-looking monsters, and bad music.

Flat Zone 2: Just as bad as the old Flat Zone.

Sky World: Damn re-appearing solid platforms the send you to our doom if you can’t tech…

I’m pretty skeptic on the new stadium. I would allow it if it were up to me, but some people might not like the conveyor belts and the wind setting.

As for Green Hill, I don’t think the floors would be the problem. It might be the checkpoints, since repeated 10% damage is pretty significant, especially if you play a low- damage character like Sonic.

Eh, but what do I know? I’m trying to base this off prior experience with Melee tourneys, so I have no idea what the Brawl restrictions will be.

Old Stadium was better but this one isn’t so bad from personal experience. Some of those terrains definitely look like they could be whored for counterpicks.

Favorites:

-Lylat Cruise: I’m a big Star Fox fan, and this stage has it all. Area 6 remix(that somehow improves on the original) among other equally fantastic tracks, epic setting and atmosphere, and a pretty normal map without any gimmicks. Love it.

-Battlefield: Can’t get more traditional than this. Very simple stage, but the music and changing backgrounds make this one of my faves.

-Pirate Ship: Wind Waker’s art style is incredible, and it will never grow old. The cannon fire is a nice touch, and I love when the ship is whisked in the air. Its a cool level.

-Yoshi’s Island: I still think YI is the best 2d game Nintendo ever made, and the level does a fine job of capturing its spirit. Much like Wind Waker, the art design will never look old, and the constantly changing backgrounds are nice.

-Port Town/Isle Delfino/Halberd: I’m a sucker for these levels :lovin: F-Zero GX is my favorite racing game ever, and the amount of detail in Aero Drive compared to Melee’s version is HUGE. Isle Delfino is just really, really pretty. Fun music and atmosphere. Revenge of Meta Knight is my favorite Kirby game(“Release Heavy Lobster!”), and they even have the song to go with the level! I always accidentally roll into that proton cannon though :arazz:

-Castle Siege: Epic music and level design.

-Norfair: I wish this level had the Brinstar remix, but whatever; this stage still owns. The lava now comes from all fucking angles, and it never stops making me laugh when the pod shows up and EVERYBODY bum rushes to get inside.

-Spear Pillar: Of all the gimmicky stages, this is my fave. Love the look of the stage, and some great music too. Flipping the stage, reversing the controls, and lasers from nowhere = frustrating, but fun nonetheless.

-Shadow Moses: Real good choice of music for this level. Lots of combos here as the walls soak up a ton of damage. Would have been interesting if the Metal Gears actually did something, but I guess the stage is fine the way it is.

Stages I like:

-Final Destination: This stage is even more basic than Battlefield  Cool background/music, but its just this flat land. Minus points because of how much competitive smashers are all over this stage’s dick.

-Frigate Orpheon: Some people love the level; I don’t see the big deal. Maybe its because I didn’t like Metroid Prime. The stage is neat(what with the vertical switches and lights going out), but…eh.

-WarioWare: Gimmicky stage. It is pretty fun how you can actually do the Wario Ware minigames and get rewarded, but it kind of takes away from the fighting. A fun level though.

-Green Hill Zone: Grew up playing Sonic, so this stage has my favorite selection of music(Live and Learn, Angel Island, Green Hill, Emerald Hill, AND Scrap Brain? Too fucking good), but the level is just…odd. The checkmark posts are annoying, and I hate how the middle section of the stage would just blow up for no reason.

-Mario Circuit: This is a pretty simple level, but it works. Nice Mario Kart tunes, and the Shy Guy karts can actually be attacked, which is always fun.

-Pictochat: Fun level to just fuck around in sometimes.

Stages I don’t like:

-Luigi’s Mansion: I actually liked the game Luigi’s Mansion, but the stage is pretty meh. WTF @ the size of the mansion, the fact that the destruction of the mansion doesn’t affect you in pretty much any way, and the odd platforms I cant go through as opposed to ones I can, and you got 1 level I really do like to skip.

-The Summit: Fucking Ice Climbers and your crap levels. This level is better than Icicle Mountain, but then again so was a root canal. Fucking fish eating me…great idea Nintendo. Slippery ass ice pissing me off. That polar bear thinks he cool, but he isn’t. Yeah, lets just move on.

-Skyworld: This level messes up my attacks AND recoveries. Bleh.

-Distant Planet: This level is starting to grow on me(as is Captain Olimer); I’m still in the middle about it. I hate how fast that waterfall is. Nice music though.

-Rumble Falls: Another level I’m kinda in the middle about. This level is much better than Icicle Mountain(crisis adverted), and it has a decent Stickerbrush Symphony remix(nowhere near as good as the original though). It actually…kinda fun. Hmm…maybe I should have put this in the levels I liked.

-Mushroomy Kingdom: I like the above ground section(cool music, fits the odd feel of the level), but I can’t stand the bottom part. People tend to camp up at the top, and it annoys me to no end.

Levels I hate:

-New Pork City: WAY TOO FUCKING BIG. I cant find anything, and I can’t stand the layout. I love big stages like Hyrule Temple, but c’mon now. Fuck this level to hell.

Flatzone: Should have left this shit in the 80s.

75m: I c wat u did they’re Nintendo. Too bad it still sucks.

Electroplankton: Gayer than Richard Simmons jacking off Boy George.

Overall, I think this is easily the best batch of levels in Smash Bros history, although it has its crop of stinkers, its mostly high quality detailed stages with lots of stuff going on and wonderful music.

Faves:

Pictochat- It’s fun as hell and w/wierd music like Cooking Navi makes it top tier IMO.
Lylat- Beautiful. great music, great layout, great stage overall.
New Yoshi Island- I like the music and graphics in this stage.
Port Town Aero Dive- I like the music
Smashville- Really basic and fun for serious matches.

OKay

FD and Battlefield- after playing so many times in melee they get old after a while.
Green Hill- Not one of my faveorite layouts but I like the style and music

I hate with a passion-
ShadowMoses- Music is awesome, but I hate the layout. Walls and Walk offs = no cool
New Pork/Hyrule temple/75m- Too damn big!

New Pork City i love this stage but i think its just for the music lol

Favourite Stages:

Lylat Cruise - Good music and awesome moving background. Layout is basic but nice. The stage tilts a bit as it moves

Halberd - Has some of the best stage music IMO. The obstacles are all predicable so they aren’t game breaking. Plus I really like moving stages.

Delfino Island - Pretty cool. Has good variety in the different places it stops at.

Port Town - Awesome music. I like it bit better than the old Mute city. The cars are really dangerous though.

Rainbow Cruise - My favourite stage from Melee. Good layout and the music is pretty good too.

Luigi’s Mansion - The good destructible stage. You can do some crazy wall combos if you don’t destroy the house. The music is good too.

Norfair - The layout is better than Brinstar IMO, and the music is awesome too. Avoiding the lava isn’t really problem since you can just jump over the big lava wave. I like hitting people into the lava that comes from the side of the stage

Good Stages:

Yoshi’s Island - Best Yoshi stage in the game. It’s a lot better than the one in Melee.

Shadow Moses - Good music and background. The Metal Gear cameos are cool. The stage layout allows you to survive for ridiculously long sometimes though.

Wario Ware - Wierd Stage. The mini-games are pretty cool, except some of my friends tend to ignore them and keep fighting. The rewards aren’t as annoying as I thought they would be.

Pictochat - Kinda cool. Most of the configurations are pretty cool. The spikes and fire in the middle of the stage are a bit out there tho. The wind is pretty annoying too.

Lame stages:

Flatzone 2 - Really small and the stage now has lots of ways to kill you now too.

New Pork City - It’s even bigger than Hyrule was. Plenty of places for people to hide and chuck projectiles at you or for gliders and flyers to run away.

Pit’s stage Skyland or whatever - Breakable platforms FTL. You can easily spike people through the floor or bounce them off the ceiling so they fall though the floor anyway. The fact that breaking the platforms removes edges for you to grab onto also gimps many characters’ recoveries. I’ve also had platforms reappear on top of me as I was trying to get back and kill me.

75m - It’s huge just like New Pork City so it’s pretty much a campfest. At least the stage tries to kill you to make the match go faster.

Electroplankton - The Music’s cool but that’s about it. Way to big and easy to run away in. The stage itself has cool graphics though.
