Not liking online play

Oh shit that was AWESOME!!:wow:

yeah, CPS3 games run like shit on GGPO, but everything else is good.

Pulling off combos isn’t the issue. It’s being able to do things on reaction. Online just slows the games down too much, and rearranges certain moves usefulness. A lot of the finer points are out of whack online. So I don’t take it real serious. It’s fun in small bursts, but I don’t practice that way.

I’ve always thought of myself as a really calm person but your right, online you just get frustrated so easily it seems like.

I find myself more stressed playing online. I also get bored quick when playing online. I’d rather play against someone live.

this is spot on.

The online jitters will fade with time. Lag and rage quitting are common and tend to ruin the online experience to some degree. I suggest playing online only if it is absolutely necessary. It is always much more enjoyable having friends over or going to someone elses house but this isn’t always possible, especially once you’re out of school and everybody has careers and different schedules.

I’ve not really enjoyed playing online either. I get frustrated easily, and I’m not really even taking it seriously, but for whatever reason, I’m still just getting annoyed with it. I don’t know if its the fact that it takes a while to find someone to fight, and then they use the entire alloted time to choose a character, and then when they win they never fight me with the same character they just beat me with… and win or lose, you have to wait another 45 seconds or minute just to get back into the lobby to ready up. There is so much waiting sometimes that its just too much to handle. I don’t have the same problem with GGPO, I don’t mind playing randoms on there as for the most part the maturity level is much higher, and nearly everyone is willing to lend some helpful advice. Winner stays on with the same character so it gives me a chance to figure out the matchup and what I can do to beat what just beat me. Live is like the anti-ggpo, and its just not all that enjoyable. But, I play it because its the option I have at this point. I really hope the PC version of the game streamlines some of these issues.

I can do all my moves normals/specials everything on reaction, so I wouldn’t use that as an excuse either.

I have a problem with just the SF4 online play. I don’t ever notice a huge input lag issue with HDRemix, GGPO, or 2DF like I do with SF4. There’s matches where I’ll hit a button and the move will come out so much later and it gets so frustrating especially since I’m playing Akuma. Teleporting out of the corner on wakeup is hard to do when the command isn’t coming out when you put it in.

players who talk shit online for no reason aren’t cool.

especially if they wouldn’t do it if you were playing them face to face

That’s not true for all online fg’s. I can react just fine to just about anything in mvc1.

Yeah, that’s why I pretty much quit Jojo’s, again. I really tried my best to get good at it but, CPS3 games run like ass( plus 1 frame links doesn’t help me in anyway).

atm for me online is the only way i can play against real people. theres no doubt that playing against a real opp with them sat next to you or across is infinitely more fun and less frustrating. any attempts ive made to get my freinds into it have failed miserably so im pretty much relegated to ONLY online. which totally sucks ive just played a load of 1-2 bar games (no better connections) and not enjoyed it at all, more like a slideshow.

if there was minimal lag i could likely play all day but it seems to me the lag is worse since the update.

I mentioned this in the XBL section and I don’t know if it’ll work for you, but a couple of weeks ago I popped in my XBOX magazine Demo Disk and downloaded TMNT 1989 on XBA cause it’s was a popular beatemup. Whenever I play it on Live, I get NO input lag whatsoever. It’s plays like I’m offline. After switching back and forth from playing TMNT and SF4 (over a course of a few days), now I get NO button input lag in SF4 online. I thought it was some kind of improved netcode or something. Same goes for all the other games I play on Live. I’ll admit, the game is more bearable when my character doesn’t respond late.

Now my biggest problem is unintentional lost connections. People are sending hatemail and neg repping me everytime the signal drops and neither of us did it.

I’m getting unintentional lost connections all the time due to my crappy UVerse suddenly disconnecting at random time, I think my DC % went up 2% because of this:arazz:

I called the company and they better fix it tomorrow.

I think online sucks is because it feels like I’m not getting any better, I face nothing but turtling fireball cowards and I do experience lag and input delay on some matches, and that gives them tutles a higher advantage (Random DPs).

I take my play to the Arcade and what an awesome and fun experience it is there more, more advance aggressive players :bgrin:

Plus I’ve been playing SF4 at the arcade since it came out in August, so I’m used to the feel in the arcade more.

As soon as I get enough money, I’m gonna to the westcoast. See you at the arcades man.

It’s just a game? Suppose to have fun not stress you out. I guess? Thats just me though.
