I still haven’t seen a video of someone effectively using U2… I’ve just been sticking to U1 mostly.
Anybody got a link to someone using it at max range vs Ryu/Sagat and it being effective?
I did try U2 with characters like El Fuerte/Gief though, both with amazing results, it pretty much shuts down El Fuerte and gives Rufus a lot of breathing room.
Ok, The Cody matchup might be that lopsided normally I agree that Rufus dominates him but there’s one thing that levels up the match up quickly(and imo tips it heavily in Cody’s favor): the knife. Once Cody had the knife I had absolutely no way to get in. c.fp knife stuffed all high jump ins and high dive kicks. s.fp stuffed all dive kick attempts or pokes. I couldnt psychic EX tornado since you have to be right at the edge of s.fp knife range. EX Messiah got stuffed. I actually didn’t try focus but I’m guessing it either wouldn’t have reached or the knife would have been too fast. Hopefully there was just something I was missing and there’s a better answer than “Don’t let him get the knife”
Wow, you guys haven’t talked about DeeJay yet? This match seems to be heavily in DeeJay’s favor. I want to hear how you counter the mismatch so I can re-counter. (I’m a DeeJay player)
Hey guys…
I can’t handle Adon’s divekickstyle move… He seems to be safe on block, and when he’s in I’m open to his mixups…
Is there any way i can counter/defend this move? c.mp doesn’t seem to work… and c.lp is too slow to punish the move on block (I think… tested it in trainingsmode but I’m not sure)
The only thing i found to be of some use is to neutraljump divekick… bzw my reactions are too sucky, so I mostly have to guess…
Neutral jump dive kick, EX Messiah, Ultra 2. I can’t say much else. Just get better with your reactions.
Plus you don’t really need to react to it, the move takes a while to come out. You should be able to see it coming. Just neutral jump as he is jumping towards the wall and time the dive kick.
Roundhouse has more priority, Ultra 2 punishes ex-messiah and shuts down his mixup game because even if you cross dictator up he can still ultra 2, buffed psycho crusher. One of the many match-ups thats even harder in this game, dictator sits there mashing teleport hoping you miss your link and if you do, gg you’re done, good luck getting in again. I really don’t know why I play Rufus after they shit all over him in this game. I’m losing to the Bisons I beat in Vanilla, but I guess that’s because Rufus was insanely overpowered right?
Deep cross up dives on wake up still stuff ex psycho crusher. Used whiffed dive kicks to support getting in and bait and punish Bison’s whiffed s.hks with sweep, c.fp, and ex tornado. If I start to get pushed to the corner with lots of lk and scissors pressure, I look for a break and try to cross him up so that he’s in a bad position. Bison has to either instantly s.hk as you leave the ground or be charging a head stomp to catch your jump when he’s close to you. When he’s in the corner, I tend to give him a bit of space when he gets knocked down to keep him there. That way I can punish him if he tries to do anything on wake up besides block.
vivaldi - If the dude’s mashing teleports in your blockstrings, go for more dive kick resets. He’ll teleport out. You’ll land fast and be able to punish. Rufus was strong in the last game but he wasnt overpowered. My general thoughts on Rufus was that his good match ups were really good and his bad matchups were really bad. Despite his “nerfs” I think he’s remains a powerful character in Super.
LOL, well I’m trying to help and get helped. This match seems free for DeeJay. If it’s discussed, I can offer point - counter point to break this match down. Up to you guys if you care of not.
Didn’t play Deejay with Rufus yet, but first thing to check is if he can be j.mk crossed up, and if it’s the case, if the EX jack thing auto corrects on wake up.
Other thing that comes to my mind is U2. Focus, focus, and once ultra is loaded, he cannot throw projectiles anymore.
Short upkicks and ex upkicks auto correct really well. You are right about the U2 thing, but U2 doesn’t do that much damage and I believe DeeJay has a better ground game then Rufus. It just seems like it so tough for Rufus to get in and if he does get in, he is very easily pushed back out.
This basically seems like Ryu vs. Rufus, but with a better answer to the dive kick since it auto corrects so well. What do Rufus player usually do against Ryu? Maybe something there can apply against DeeJay.
I’ve also beaten, EX Messiah with crouching slide and upkicks. I think up kicks beat all follow ups to Messiah also. Not 100% sure on that one though.
According to the frame data air slasher recovers faster than guile’s lp sonic boom but it has a slower startup so i guess it could be punished if it was near psychic. Deejay’s EX upkicks have 4 frame startup though so cant he be thrown out of it or does it have invul. frames?
He has invulnerability frames. Mainly on the EX and short upkicks. I think short has the same has EX, but of course EX does a ton more damage then short up kicks.
Upkicks whiff against a cr.Forward. Upkicks can whiff against certain crossup divekick setups (there’re few, like after a low followup to messiah and ultra). You could always bait it too. I’ve never played a DJ worth their salt though, so I have no idea how bad the matchup is in actual play.
I swear the Blanka match-up got worse. GT seems to be ineffective on Blanka balls now and I’ve been having EX Messiah’s whiffing completely over Blanka when he’s crouch blocking. Could just be online shenanigans, but it’s didn’t happen only once.
