"Not fat enough? We can fix that!" Rufus Match-up Thread

You mean MK/HK.

Just don’t block it, let it fly over your head and punish with Cr.MP

or cr.HP if he goes too far away

You can also ultra Abel’s wheel kick on reaction.

really struggling against the chun li cross up combo she does.

THe overhead smash thing into low combos…

Are you asking what to do against that? or where you jsut venting?

The only thing to do is block. I am assuming you mean the crossup that she flips over you and kicks you. hat one will beat out EX Messiah. So Blocking is retty much your only option. And as for the overhead, aslo block. Rufus doesn’t have much else to do against those. EX Messiah will hit them out of the over head but not worth the one hit you get.

It’s pretty trivial to stuff with a close hp, even if she does it on Rufus’ wakeup you can still sometimes stuff it with a wakeup close hp that turns around, I made a post on this not too long ago. Long story short, attempting to stuff it either results in you trading 100 damage each vs Chun Li who has much less health than our good boy Rufus, or getting a 125 damage counterhit close hp, assuming you are decent at timing this sort of thing. Stuffing an ambiguous crossup df+hk from Chun Li sometimes results in a counterhit far hp, which is even better. Yum.

Though Chun isn’t my best matchup, I’ve found that LP Snakestrike will knock away the flip-over-you-and-kick-you-from-behind move. Trouble is, though, it’s a risky move to pull against Chun, as she can punish it pretty easily in a lot of other situations.

Okay, this has happened to me twice online now, so I think it’s an actual property and not just a one-time glitch. When you divekick in and follow up with a throw, Ryu’s Super will just pass straight through you if he tries to mash it out as a reversal. The fireball keeps going, and Ryu ends up thrown.

Good to know I guess if they’re mashing out a super. Works the same with Dhalsim’s ultra if done right.

I do believe larriet beats rk extension clean on reversal

I put up a semi serious thread about fire ball spamming akumas, this thread dosent have the details I was hoping to find about that, the moderators closed it.

Thanks: people who answered my question

Quick question looking for a quick answer:

Cammy Hooligan. What is the best way to stuff it? I see this thing coming from a mile away, c.MP seems to beat it 80% of the time (guessing when it doesn’t its cause I inputted late/lag whatever).

Is there a better way to stuff that move other than c.MP?

While I don’t encounter Cammy a lot, MP Snakestrike should beat Hooligan, I think.

uhhh guys i have been having alot of trouble with chun lately. she just keeps me out with all her gdlk normals. like everything she does beats what i can do. so what can i do?

That’s just as bad as complaining that “Akuma spams air fireballs and keeps me away”.

If you want to be smart alecky with people, don’t be guilty of the same thing. Give specifics, which normals is she using at what distances? How are you trying to get in?

hey…
Im watching videos of the best rufus’s players and they are always rush the rival with same moves and never defense…even if the rival got ultra they continue like that and its not safe…
Why?

Because Rufus is not that good at defending, even though he has a good move to get out like EX messiah, if blocked, most characters can punish it. Thats why characters that force him to being defensive like Sagat or Ryu, are hard match-ups.

All right… I’m getting my ass kicked by good Gen players. For some reason, even though the waterfall kick is a pretty crap antiair (AFAIK), I keep getting caught in it.
Now, from my very limited experience with having my ass kicked by Gen, I’m thinking I should try to be conservative and punish whiffed waterfalls, as well as being ready to block that insta-crossup jumpkick of his. Any other tips/punishment methods?

I don’t know if this has already been covered, but I think that this warrants noting.

cr.mp beats out Honda’s buttstomp, AND ex buttstomp.
