Education spending isn’t the problem, nor is poverty. America used to spend much less on education, and yet we had much lower crime rates (not too mention higher education standards with better results). The D.C. school district, for example, spends enormous amounts of money per student, all while the schools remain terrible and crime rates remain high. The average “poor” person in America has a better material standard of living than most other people on earth today, enjoys more luxuries than a rich person did 100 years ago, and lives like a God relative to most of human history. If you want to begin to understand what has happened over the last 50 years, reading Life at the Bottom by Theodore Darlymple and * Visions of the Anointed * by Thomas Sowell will give you a better starting point than the default sophisms being parroted over and over here. This notion that throwing more money at major social problems will solve them is foolish, naive, and driven primarily by people who have a vested interest in seeing more money and power diverted to those “solutions”.

I think we should really respect the decisions and sovereignty of norways criminal justice system. To us, it seems absurd, but that system works for them. to them (especially the states with capital punishment), im sure we seem barbaric, but, thats how we do things. We should really be looking at the factors that lead to crime and real differences between societies and their respective crime rats and judicial system, and decide that way which one is better.

I would leave the US in a heartbeat if I could actually get citizenship in the EU. They have universal healthcare, mandated 2 months vacation time a year, capped work hours to about 35 a week with massive OT for everyone above that (and enforced optionality), free higher education and a strong economy. Plus since they don’t work as many hours, they’re all in great shape and have significantly lower rates of illness and disease.
The US lets everyone in, that’s why so many of us are here. Our parents or their parents etc. left some shitty country to come here. Well now this country is shitty too, so we lose.
