there was a famous case up here (that got made into a movie starring that redhead chick from That 70’s Show). Husband and wife were abducting and raping and killing teen girls, and their lawyer hid the evidence from the police (tapes made of the rapings).
Long story short, they had to plea bargain with the wife for more evidence after the lawyer hid the shit, and she ended up getting a carpetted cell with internet and a big screen TV, and got to get her education in Psychology to boot.
Like I said, I dont care what u do, when u go to jail it should be nothing but a small room with bars on the entrance to keep u in, and NO entertainment of any kind. Wanna work out? Do situps. Wanna watch TV? Dont go to jail. Want a Playstation? Dont go to jail.
8 were killed by a bomb.
He also injured at least 319 people.
Out of the 77 killed people, 50 were from 14-18 years old. And that asshole was called a hero by some back then.
As some folks who’ve actually research this shit have stated. Even if it says only 21 years, he’s not getting out. Norway still has the option to keep adding additional time in 5 year chunks if they deem that he “isn’t fit for society” at the end of his sentence.
As for Norway’s prisons themselves. Despite the comfy looking rooms/apartments, these aren’t resorts. Prisoners all have a set of jobs and responsibilities that they need to take care of on a schedule. For example, even in Bastoy island, (which is arguably the least prison-like prison) inmates need to get to their “jobs” (and by jobs, these are actual things that are necessary for life on the island like growing food and fixing stuff) by 8:30 AM and then need to reassemble at 5PM and 11PM. And they still don’t have access to stuff like alcohol.
Breivik however is supposedly kept in their version of solitary away from the other prisoners. Doesn’t seem like he’s being prepared to “reintegrate into society” and, as previously mentioned, he’s not really getting out.
I think if prisons were filled with cruel and unusual punishments, people would NOT wish to go to them. When prisoners can go to jail and still run their criminal business, I’d say that the whole reason of a prison is FAILING. when people actively do what is needed to avoid going to jail, THEN the jail has done what it is supposed to do.
I have a Norwegian acquaintance, and just to give you an idea of how low the the crime rate is up there, mothers often leave their strollers with their toddlers by the side if they’re just getting a few items in a store or coffee. People will often keep their car unlocked when going to the mall or a store. So their concept and crime and punishment is a reflection of their relatively safe environment.
The mass murderer was basically like Simon Phoenix from Demolition Man to them.
lol I know you’re joking, but you’d most likely be jailed for a while then immediately deported.
You Sadistic Bastard!
Don’t forget to superglue the controller to his palms.
