Northwest Majors: June 28th at UW

No we can have it free for the whole weekend starting on friday I’m pretty sure we just need to reserve it. We just have to be out by 12:00 I think because they only pay the staff midnight.

If we can do Saturday+Sunday let’s do 6 games.

MvC2, ST, 3S, CvS2, GGXX, Tekken

BTW, I can set up a registration website and shit.

Oh yeah I forgot about you! You aren’t lazy! Good Shit Sam. We could make it two days. I’m down to help organize this shit. I’ll get the room requests in and such if we can just decide on a date!

I think spring time would be best, sometime around March or April

Sam, if you make the website and stuff, I can host it on SBC if you need me to

CvS2 put it in there for sure…I know a good amount of players will show.

I dont know about you guys but I want Smash Bros. in there.

Seriously, good idea. I really want CvS2 in there though. In my opinion, the best thing to do Julien is just schedule something, book what needs to be booked, and work out the kinks between now and then. If we waste too much time with logistics like what games and color edits and whatever, then the hype will die off and it will never happen.

Yeah exactly! Seriously lets at least get a date set and a location, then will get all that other shit taken care of.

I’m willing to help run brackets. I still believe we should get Smash bros in there (c’mon! We can recruit new marvel and ST players, too!) over Guilty Gear, if there is a need for such prioritization.

There only seems to be some real debate on games, and most seem to be in agreeance with my original suggestions on dates: Early December shortly after winter break starts, and before June, where we won’t interfere with Evo qualifiers. I say mid-late May for that, since it’s after midterms and doesn’t interfere with finals prep for students.

I’d be willing to help run the brackets for all games.

Tournament Execution:
Let’s get some discussion on this going.

I think that we should run grouped pools of 4 people each, and start the pools for the next tourney during Loser’s Finals. I suppose someone with more experience running tournaments should suggest the format, though.

1 TV per 4 entrants would be ideal.

Games in order of priority (as per NW interest):
MVC2
ST
3s
CVS2
GGXX:AC (Though we will need several modded PS2s and copies of the game(I have 4 burned copies))
Tekken 5:DR
Super Smash Bros Melee
Virtua Fighter 5

Honorable Mentions:
KOF 98, XI
NGBC
Melty Blood: Act Cadenza

Hokuto no Ken

Just for Me:
JoJo’s Bizzarre Adventure :lovin:
XvSF (can anyone procure copies of this game for the console besides the Saturn?)

I’ll help out with setups, TVs, running brackets, anything I can do. The people running GG singles at evo were really helped along by running the brackets digitally, so I’d highly recommend doing it that way.

Um, but one thing to consider about GG vs. Smash is that SSBM has a fairly good community in the NW as it is, and has its own regional tournaments very frequently.

EDIT: As far as date is concerned, I vote for late winter/early spring.

GGXX:AC is actually hitting American shelves later this year, so modded PS2s wouldn’t be needed if we chose to have it at the event

I think we should form a committee of like 5 or 6 people who will lead this whole thing, who wants to volunteer?

I vote for sam.

I vote for me. ahhah.

Hm… I think Sam and Ross could do a good job, if it means anything coming from me.

Aaaand… I’ll still help out if I’m needed. Anything I can do to make this undoubtedly cool event run smoother.

I vote for Ross to be president of the universe.

Hear hear!

Damn my internet gets cut off and now I suddenly learn about this happening. Good shit. Tri-Cities will probably show up if it happens (thats like another 6-8 for 3S). 3 hour drive wherever it happens. I’d like for the early spring thing…that just mainly because my work is ass on time off on certain holiday seasons.

Stay tuned, I may make an announcement in a few days

Tekken would draw at least 20 people. And that’s just from the Seattle area.

I’m all for CvS2, 3S, Marvel. I know those games have regular players. GG? I may be out of the loop, but when was the last GG tourney you heard of? Great game, but I think you would be wasting floor space. IMO.

I dunno, we have at least eight or so good players just in portland, and more than just the good players would come out to play. The scene is much larger in WA, and so I imagine a 32-man bracket would be pretty easy to draw in, and that’s assuming CA doesn’t show up.
