How likely or easy will it be to find enough PS3’s and DR disks to hold a tournament? I have no idea how easy they are to find, but I don’t know many people with PS3’s, and the ones I do know don’t play fighters. DR seems trickier to pull off then the other games just because of the equipment issue.
Anyone feel like enlightening me if I am just plain wrong. I would appreciate it.
Just for clarification. DR is only a downloadable game for ps3, and many Tekken players do own ps3 loaded with DR. But then again, judging from the result, it doesn’t look like Tekken will be included… oh well.
tekken is gonna be at evo, i don’t see why it shouldn’t be included here, seeing how some people might be going to evo.
As CVS2 might not be included in EVO when DR will, I say keep DR if a game needs to go.
So I have some good news and then I have some more good news.
I met with an adviser today who informed me that there may be concerns about the respective publishers not wanting us to use their games in our tournament, so we called around today to ask what their policies were.
Capcom is cool with everything. Good old Capcom.
Sega is fine with VF5.
We still have to get a hold of GG producers and Tekken’s, but I don’t think there will be any problems.
You know what would have been a problem… SMASH. Nintendo doesn’t allow people at the UW to hold tournaments for it apparently, or they require a fee to be payed. So yeah to no smash, and that is the final nail in its coffin (in case it rose from the grave).
Wait, you have to call actual producers of the games? Damn UW and its policies. Fuck smash forever.

The games are going to be run two at a time at three different times in the day. Once the site is up, which should be soon, be sure to check it for updates, schedule times and directions as we get them figured out and set up.
We would have liked there to be 7 games and include Tekken, but the our schedule is going to be tight with just six games, and inclduing it meant finding more equipment. Tekken players can still come and make side-tourney for it, and they really should. If there is a big enough turnout and we have enough time, we will try hard to get it into the next tournament.

in case anyone was wondering, i voted for marvel, st, 3s, and cvs2.
after the brawl tournament at zachs i have decided to avoid any smash games. i have no strong opinions either way and would probably attend if there were even just one of the games i voted for.
