I really want to come this year… I’ll see if I can bring some Montana with me.
I dont think i’ll be having any asian baby this time around, so i should be able to make it…
Do it, man! Set those dates.
I see that in the last month (or whatever), northwestmajors.com has expired. Should I grab it…?
And are there any plans for making a logo for NWM? I wonder if anybody might toss a couple ideas out…
I decided to go ahead and register northwestmajors.com, but…
I guess somebody picked it up in the last two days! That’s great (assuming it was one of us!)… but, uh, who was it? Axel? Brent? There’s no actual website up, yet, so I can’t tell.
Whoever it is, the questions I have are the same: How would you like to run things? If you’d like to run things yourself, that’s fine, of course. If it’s useful, feel free to use the mockup site I made as a starting place (as small as it is). If you’d like to let somebody else handle updating, etc., I volunteer! If you want to set up an account where I can (S)FTP some files up there, or whatever, just send me a PM and I’ll help out with anything I can.
Also - anybody here want to toss out some logo ideas? I can try, but… you guys probably saw what I did last year. Or maybe you blocked it out of your memory…
For a 2 day event idea
Why not have Day 2 be called “Second Chance” or “Redemption”
Re-do the event twice w/ the big games only like SSIV/HDR/Tekken 6
Had a crappy seeding, stick didn’t workout, nervous, etc…Its almost like a second chance to redeem yourself.
If there are different winners, have
Day 1 champion vs Day 2 for grand champion epic match!
Other ideas for Day 2…Money matches, Grudge matches on the big screen!
They’ll probably just have finals on Day 2, plus team tournies. Those will take plenty of time. No double elimination team tournies this year though guys, please. Though saving money matches for the big screen second day sounds good too.
Nobody is owning up as the owner of northwestmajors.com.
Did somebody else grab it…? It seems unlikely.
I’m going to try to get a hold of the venue guy this week to soilidify the date. I’ll keep you posted.
Grant if you want to work on a logo by all means go for it, I’m busy with Tournamentwars so any help I can get would be fantastic.
LOL you asked for it.
I didn’t really think you would be the person making a logo, updating the website, etc.
Just wanted to see if maybe anybody with talent would step forward.
Oil - Halftone
Electric 3 (transparent)
"yo i think of star trek"
Ye Olde Majors
These are just ideas.
Anyway, I guess if you want some fucking styled text come see me.
I don’t know if you need to add “Pacific”, do you? I only ask because NWM has always been abbreviation.
I agree with Jared, the abv. is NWM’s, but I do like that oil - halftone but I’d suggest a different set of colors cause they are pretty loud.
Yeah, I was just being silly, honestly.
But if one of them seems like a nice concept, I can clean it up.
Do you like how I’m hiding behind (in front of) some real art?
Really, though, it’s just a font. A free font, no less.
You can download the font here: http://www.dafont.com/vomzom.font
Or you can download my PSD file here (4.5 MB): http://matchpile.com/pnw3/oil-halftone-2.psd
If somebody wants to take over at any point, throw out some of their own ideas, please.
No smash this year please, we don’t need their community anymore with the numbers Super will draw in. And it’d be nice to be fighting-game-only this year.
First let it be known that the chances of smash/GG/BB/MB being at NWM’s 3 are very very slim.
Secondly, we have smash players (Duggish, Riki-Oh, Gimpyfish82) that are trying to get more of the smash kids into street fighter…
Good about smash, but is BlazeBlue not healthy enough to get a turnout? Or is there another reason for excluding it? It’s not my cup of tea but it’s a legitimate fighting game right?
I’m not against smash players if they are paying entree fees in legit fighters and aren’t popping pills. I wouldn’t have believed it unless I saw it.
I read that as “Northwest Mayors”.
If we made that our official pronunciation of the event, it might help our turnout with our Mexican friends. Focus group?
No, No comment, and no.
So NWM will only have a 3 or 4 games for a 2 day event?
I believe I read somewhere that the lineup so far was: SSF4, T6, MvC2, and HDR. But that’s just what I thought I read, and it may be incomplete, or even incorrect.
But, that would be four. I don’t know about other games. Obviously it’s not my call.
Some thoughts, though: Last year there were seven games (not counting SSB). Turnout for KOF12 and 3rd Strike was pretty disappointing, however. As a result, I doubt that we’d see either of those returning.
I don’t actually play BlazBlue, but it did get a decent turnout. As did Guilty Gear. I dunno. Again, obviously this stuff is not my call. I will be at the Majors regardless of which games are there. I’m sure that if it’s a two-day event, there could be time for more than four events. But that could mean team tournaments or exhibition matches, rather than different games. I dunno, man. I dunno.
I would love to hear more about the events and lineup from Frank, although confirming dates for a venue probably comes first.
I wonder if there might be room in the lineup for an ‘oddball’ game or two, but without enough hype, perhaps they just belong in casuals. Would anybody really sign up for a Garou tournament, or SvC? Probably not.
But if we’re going to speculate on likely inclusions, here would be my guesses:
- BlazBlue and Guilty Gear got a healthy turnout last year. But if Frank says it won’t be showing up, well… he would know. It’s also somewhat awkward timing for BlazBlue, with CS being out in (Japanese) arcades, but not being available for us to play.
- TatsuCap and Melty Blood are both being played at EVO, so perhaps there’s enough hype to justify including one/both. On the other hand, they’d each require special hardware. Not that we need to copy EVO. Melty Blood gets a double elimination because it doesn’t have a track record AND Frank just said it won’t be there. He probably just didn’t think of TvC. Sort of like, he didn’t say no to SC4, either, but… yeah.
- I haven’t heard much hype about any other games, not that I would, I guess.
