NORTHEAST CHAMPIONSHIP (NECXI) Dec 4th & 5th-- IN PHILADELPHIA PA--A New Life

Hey man, can I get on the list for SSFIV (singles and teams) and 3s? I’d also be down for coin flip as long as the entry fee isn’t ridiculous.

Yeah because people are going to enter a tournament for HDRemix when it’s not even listed in the OP.
I’m blown away by your convincing logic, sir.

Lets think outside the box here for a second…

There is no HDR because there is no interest in HDR. If you want to stay home and play HDR online, go for it.

But if you want to play the best, playing the best version of the game, for the most money, then bring your cash and your skills to NECXI.

pretty simple, really.

Eric, I’ll call you this coming week about some games and tournaments. The MK guys are definitely going to run MK2, and right now I’m hearing that there may be enough entrants to run a side MKDC tournament. I’ll update you as soon as I know.

Regarding some of the listed tournaments, if you need me or anyone of the guys that I come with to run SFA3 then we’ll handle it. Same for KI just like last year. We’re always willing to help, and I think that Shock, Summoning and myself will all be at the hotel on Friday night to help you with any setup you need.

I’ll call you during the week regarding the awards… I have some stuff for you to see.

MKDC you sure about that?

I was going to post something stupid but I’m not going to fill up Eric’s thread with a bunch of bullshit from an idiot like you. Look at the OP. Look at the updated list from Eric. HDR has no interest. That’s all we need to know.

make this happen. thought it was dead.:china:

hotel room fun! :coffee:

Hey Eric if you could put my buddy down for 3s that would be swell!

It “died” if you want to say that because it never had a huge scene in the first place, plus you had to play it on arcade. I agree that HDR brought SF2 back but it also made a lot of people realize that they like ST better.

Now that superguns/machines/boards are easier to come by, and most players on the EC and in the MW seem to prefer ST, I’m glad it’s made a comeback and will do everything I can at least to support that.

High or low stakes had nothing to do with its health. If you have some old game that TOs put up for $5, there’s no reason to travel for it for those who are serious about it and the game will suffer.

If people want to play HDR they should just make some noise in the thread. If KI and MK2 are being played I’m sure NEC will allow an HDR tournament if someone volunteers to run it. But based on HDR’s numbers at majors this year I think it’s pretty dead as a mainstream game.

We might be coming from OH but we need to finalize our driving plans first – I really just want to come for arcade ST/3s and MK casuals so I’m really happy those are all getting repped.

How do we register to be in the tournament? I’m sure it is in thread, but I’m too lazy to actually read the whole thing derp

Puzzle Fighter List:

A little off topic:

Ok guys I’m going to start having tournaments, up at chickies and pete’s inside parx casino, I need the players support to make this happen so show me zack and Hubbs some love.

You must be 21 with I’D. Sorry. :frowning:

I’m going for either a Sunday, Monday, or weds so please let me know what day would be best, reply in the match making thread(philly) or post on my new Nec facebook page, check it out.

I see how it is.

Im working on a few tournament spot, little homie i won’t forget about my young players.

I’d prefer you think with a brain first, but…

There is no HDR because HDR isn’t advertised in the OP. Therefore, how do you expect people to have interest in it, if ST is advertised as an official game? The US SF2 community isn’t big or dedicated enough to be split between two games.

“Best version” being completely arbitrary. And the whole “play the best at ST” spiel sure worked wonders for the SF2 scene, which was almost completely dead before HDR.

It’s true it was never THAT big, but I want to see some hard figures that there’s a greater number of people actually preferring ST.
Not internet posts by a few people on SRK. Most new HDR players that have shown up and support the game don’t lurk on SRK anyways, they’re congregated on X-Box Live.

The only preference I see, is by major tournament organizers who are more biased toward ST, which is understandable since most organizers now are old-school arcade heads.

Again I want to see some hard figures that people who are traveling for Super Turbo to these majors, putting up $50 per pot, aren’t already there for other games anyway.

Guys calm down HDR is on the list.

I’m not going to do the work for you that I did for myself as a TO because there are bad attitudes going back and forth for which there’s no need – if you think we just put up $50 ST on a whim without talking to dozens of SF2 players about the subject beforehand and after going to multiple majors in the past two years, well OK then.

Talk to a bunch of top players like I did, and go back and look at the numbers if you weren’t playing in these tournaments. HDR should be a strong tournament force but its numbers really fell off this year compared to last. Not everyone says “I hate HDR” but most of them tell me that ST is better for X, Y and Z reasons.

The ST support is a reaction to that. Read the SB:R pages when this debate was going there, just 2-3 people were upset about the decision to switch to ST, where I would have expected dozens of tourney goers to tell us they wanted HDR headlining if that were the case – I think HD really had its spotlight and didn’t do much with it in our part of the country, and if most of the really good players – the guys willing to travel for majors – want ST let’s give ST that spotlight and see what happens. I don’t think it will blow up either way but with so many serious players on ST and GGPO I’m hoping it but be a smaller but stable tourney game.

This has already been argued earlier in the thread.

  1. Super Turbo HDR was the originally advertised game.
  2. It was brought up that Super Turbo will be brough up as an arcade version.
  3. Another member (I forget who) complained about HDR
  4. Said member was told they can run the event if they want to.
  5. Other members came in complaining

Oh, and I also posted this thread on the Super Turbo tournament thread in the game section - advertising both.

So here it is, if you want to have a tournament of the game there’s nothing stopping you provided you can get a TV and the console to run it - which typically frees up as the weekend goes by. Nowhere does it say that everyone must play Arcade, nor does it say everyone must play HDR. Hell, DOA and SC are each getting their previous versions played.

I really don’t see what the big fuss is about.

Lol I am jk. But sooner or later I might be going up there!

So I wanna place to go for that 3sss. ;D
