ST format: IMPORTANT!
To anyone who will be entering ST. Here are the Rules:
2/3 rounds
2/3 games
3/5 finals
You must Pre Select two characters when you register. One character to start the tourney with and one that you will play with when you are sent to the losers bracket ( if ever). E.g. Joe Smith preselects OG Ken and he faces Don Jones who preselected Claw. Joe Smith loses first game and is down 0-1 he MUST stay with Ogken, :annoy: he loses again to Don. He now is sent to losers bracket and he now must use New ken (pre-seleceted) for the remainder of the tourney and he can never use og ken or any other character for the remainder of the tourney. Don Jones since he won still must stay with Claw he cannot use his preselected OG Sagat until he is sent to losers.
Also BE ON TIME for your matches. If we are waiting on you b/c you are watching a MM or any other game where you are not playing, you will be sent to losers. ST is a fast game if you are up soon for another game play ST b/c it lasts less than 5 minutes. whereas CVS2 can last upwards of 15 minutes a match. We can wait to play your matches at the end of the round, but then you must start your matches, but when there are no other players available we cant wait. Go to EVO and try to be late for your match and you will hear one of the Cannons say " DISQUALIFIED!" :badboy:
What is the reasoning behind this format? this is an old game and many of the players are very solid and Most players use 1 or 2 characters very well. We need to mix it up and prevent some counter picking. If this was remix than we would use standard rules and Remix mode. It has been rebalanced and people would be unsure of the balance of the game. making it a wash.

When is the last day people are allowed to pre-register for NEC? The things that came up might not be happening, so this tournament is something I may or may not be able to do.
Those ST rules are weird.
Eric, are you going to have Street Fighter ST HD Remix at NEC? Cause it comes out this month for xbox 360, but not sure of the date.
Okay, after re-reading the rules, I’m not entering ST, this is a huge disadvantage to people such as myself, fairly new to the game, and frankly don’t know every matchup for my characters.
**I’ll be down to make my room SNK HQ right after the tourneys are over for the entire event if necessary.
Eric, I’ll also bring my laptop to organize brackets for any game that’s needed on the roster. I will also coordinate for both Capcom/SNK games at hand during and as standby (when I’m not playing anything thus far) in case something goes wrong.
The reason of this is in case people forget, or register for a tourney but haven’t paid- or anything in between, I’ll have it on record so nothing goes unchecked.
In the mean time I’ll speak with some other people who would like to come.

ST needs some new flavor. This really isn’t about counter picking. I really only wanted a one player tourney. but so many people use more that one character on a high level. It is also tiring to watch the same thing over and over again. This will also expand the horizons of players and get them using new characters. for years I was a one character player now I can use at least 5-6 at a decent level. Also seedings have always been an issue. Some people complained for years that they got a lopsided opp in the early rounds. This no longer is an issue b/c your characters are preselected. if Joe Shmoe knows you cant beat his Blanka but in reality he can only beat you with Blanka, an no one else, he wont use him in the tourney b/c he will only use what he is BEST at. This gives you a better chance if you face him. these rules are nothing new. and have been used for years. Just not in the US. there are players that i cannot beat even if i use my best characters but I can beat them with a secondary character. this make for a very interesting choice and a careful one. I will have someone make up random brackets to keep it honest. I will have no say in the bracketing.
I have to agree wit this… i rather not state my characters so you can go read up an practice. Just blind pick is easier. Plus ST goes quick… just koops two cents thats all… i trust you playboys to make it smooth an fun.

most people can use at least one other character, but just because they are better with one in general you want to punish them for it? I mean I know who i am good with and who i am not, but on occasion i have opted for a ryu or a dj and they are not my main or secondary. This rule kinda hurts players who still play the game for fun. Also just because you only stick with one character that is your choice. If you really wanted to pick another character just do so dont make a rule that puts stipulations or hinders someone like what you are doing. In ST match ups are match ups and some are pretty cut and dry. Certain characters need counter-picks that just the way it goes. If the rules are gonna be like this i will not be entering. Eric keep me informed because i will take my name off of ST if they stay like this.
lol Bill taking some heat for changing a little tradition. Those rules enforce strict normal and counterpick matchups and forces you to learn them which can be good and bad in the case of ST. Im pretty sure a Guile main doesnt want to get stuck with a Sim for 2-3 games or a Sagat even whatever the case may be. I personally don’t mind the rules per say but think it will accommodate a team tournament much better.
Something like this would be great for ST teams. Every year VA runs random 3s teams and it works out good and there has never been a ST team tournament at nec so why not now!? I say do this for ST 2 on 2 random teams (people) same exact rules. Just a suggestion though.
I don’t blame Bill for changing things as HD is right around the corner but at the same time upcoming hardcore ST players take stuff like this very seriously which is good shit too. Maybe a vote but I think hes playing Dictator here! lol

I was thinking about these rules as well and I’d dig a 2v2 SBO style team tourney.
