EDIT: Doubt it’ll work, but whenever I play SF again I’m gonna test it out and see if it works in that game as well. Will let you know what I find.
Please stop comparing SF4 and KOF. SF4’s inputs are way different from any other game.
Yes, in KOF they hold your input for a certain number of frames, just like Blazblue. In fact, this has existed since at least KOF XI as far as I know. In that game, you could charge with Ash, walk forward like 2 1/2 steps and then press f+P to get Sonic Croissant.
Also KOF 13 has short cuts. Any qcf move can be input (db OR down)–(any down direction not used in the first direction)–(any FORWARD direction, except df if it was already used).
That means db-d-df can work for a fireball motion.
So can db-df-f, d-df-uf and so on.
So if you are running, you can roll to uf to guarantee you will not get a DP input (which cannot end with any up motion).
The other 2 suggested ways to avoid qcf vs. dp overlap in KOF 13:
- Make SURE you go to neutral for a few frames (not always practical for certain combos and situations)
- Hold the button on forward when completing the input. This helps clear out the button press input stored in the system (i.e. when you were holding forward earlier).

Inputs are weird in KOF, yeah. I can usually find a way to compensate or just do something a little differently and make things work out fine though. Most of the time my problem is getting qcf supers when I don’t want them, especially when in a combo using dps that need a qcf drive cancel.

I hate the input system of KOF XIII, I feel it was designed just to fuck with me. Any suggestion on how to do 632146 motions in combos? In other news Daimon = KOF E.Honda, well at least for me he does.
What problem are you having? I know like Beni he has a command grab with the same input as 632146. You can practice his level four trial, if I’m not mistaken, for execution practice.
Nope. You can do it in KOF but not SF. You still get the DP.
The reason you rolling and being able to get a fireball instead of DP is because there are more frames in a roll than the forward motion. If you press F. then qcf. LP/HP right after rolling you’re gonna get a DP. Same rule applies to SF, minus the rolling. If you press forward there are a certain number of frames you have to wait before only the fireball will come out, not the DP. In KOF if you go to uF you’re gonna get a fireball, no DP, without having to wait for the neutral frame to kick in like you just said.
My problem was I was experiencing the “You need to wait for the neutral frame before you can do that” and not knowing. I just thought it was bad execution on my part or the game “cheating” me somehow. I never really bothered studying frames before so this is all something new to my learning. Thanks for the input though.

Nice gameplay at EZ the last 2 days!! Alice Chan and Muy Thai, thanks for driving down. GG!! KoF13 is just too much fun to play period! I loved the arcade game, but this version is amazing! My new team is Joe Higashi, Robert Garcia and Kula Diamond(The Salt Princess). Evey character seems fun to play with. Some just have more options than others. Alice I like how you use Saiki, IO wanna learn him too.lol
Saturday was a nice chill time at EZ, Guile in AE 2012 makes it worth playing!! Gotta learn a better way to fight against Vic’s Vice. She’s too good!
