North Carolina Thread LXIV

I’m going to miss you man but I plan to support EZ as much as possible and bringing new people out there on the EZ Fridays.

He’s from Xanadu/Maryland.

See you guys tomorrow. Big day, lots of people and I get to see some of that KOF tech you guys have been working on.

Please make sure you get there on time. I am starting KOF first cause that shit is going to take forever.

Please bring your systems if you have them.

Also DLC in all games is banned for the first two weeks. Sorry, no Iori Jon, lol.

I plan on starting at 3pm for KOF.

See you there!!

It’s all good, I wasn’t expecting him for this tournament.

Figured you weren’t. See you tomorrow.

You know what, I’m going to download the kof13 demo and give it a shot.

Please keep the trolling to a minimum, gentlemen.

You’ll gain a meter from blocking before being guard crushed. From what I’ve seen outside of a few gimmick moves only standing CD’s seem to really guard crush, and maybe Ralf.

The online is 100% unusable as a teaching tool. Lag abuse tactics are too damn common/too effective. This is why I’m going to drop the game, I work too many weird hours to play offline much, and a game with high learning curve+ unworkable online just don’t work for me in 2011. Not the game’s fault, but just my circumstances- I work weird hours and make too much doing it for me to give up my job just to play games.

I understand why you guys hate online, but it’s a necessary part of games these days, and KOF is the litmus test for why.

Just got back and about to test a bunch of stuff out. But before I do I’m gonna watch the rest of these vids. Good looking out.

Trolling? This is real life son! :stuck_out_tongue:

From what I’ve read it has two teams and a few stages, but even with the demo you should be able to practice the fundamentals of the game. If you don’t like it then you just saved yourself some money, but do try and test the stuff out in the game.

Screw this none DLC tournament. Kids just afraid you’ll lose…even worse. laughs hysterically similar to Flame Iori

First off, I’ve talked with you before Shiki and you know I think you’re a cool guy who just likes to troll on the forums a bit. But I have nothing negative to really say about you since offline, you’re a cool guy. With that said, I’m sure you’re godlike in KOFXI but this is KOFXIII. I not surprised if there are things here and there that aren’t the same as XI. And when I say sit down with the game are you actually testing these theories yourself or going off what you read somewhere? Or maybe if it isn’t like KOFXI you completely discard it as nonsense. Whether you’re good or bad at KOFXIII isn’t an issue, its are you utilizing the mechanics in the game to your advantage?

Maybe next time bro when can get some games in sometime, but by then I may be too far behind to keep up with you haha. Anyways, just keep at it.

This is why I keep stressing the importance of testing these things out. Like Saisyu said, we tested it out at Doom’s place. Even Blake confirmed what we tested. Why are you having so much of an issue with this? I’m just confused because we were there picking character to character and testing things out and the proper ways to punish certain moves. Maybe you were playing MvC3 at the time and didn’t notice when we went over Kyo, so I guess that’s understandable. But it just sounds like you beating yourself over something that’s simple. Save your meter and punish a Kyo player when they do that move. No AB or CD is required.

I just don’t want to see you lose an important match only because you didn’t know the proper way to punish Kyo. Its one thing to lose to a better player, but its another when you could of beaten the player had you known certain information.

The point of AG is to get out of situations where people tend to command grab you since you can’t break those unlike with regular grabs. Plus if someone abuses grabs you can punish them for it with AG. But even though you’re trying to avoid getting grabbed someone could bait you, make you AG, then punish you with a combo. Its all about knowing when to do it, but it can help you out of some tough situations. Just like with command grabs or even regular grabs you can’t abuse AG either.

Online play in video games being important is definitely a litmus test. Definitely. Just… probably a different litmus test than what one would expect.

What about the patch? Don’t you think you should at least wait for that?
Honest question, is KOF 13 Online really THAT bad? I actually haven’t played online yet…I’ve spent all my hours in training/trials, trying to understand the new characters, the new system et al.

And no, I will not be giving up on KOF13.
The game is what is. Times change, people change, and games change. I can deal with it or move on, and I’ve decided to deal with it.
They changed the core fundamentals of the game for a reason. The game is meant to ease in new players. But that doesn’t mean the game is bad.
The playfield is even, and everybody has a fresh start at the game. I have to start back at the bottom just like everyone else.
I guess I was just frustrated because a lot of what I learned from older KOFs doesn’t apply anymore, but then again KOF 13 needed to be something different. SNK cannot survive off of remaking KOF 2002 until the end of time, after all.

I don’t have any faith in the patch, that said, I’ll give the patch a chance.

The online, people can roll into throw on some 3 bar connections, and it works because you can’t react to it due to input lag. Stuff I can react to offline easily works. You won’t get a 4 bar connect in NC. The other stuff is frustrating , but I can handle it- if I could learn the metagame. You can’t learn a metagame in practice mode though.
The online is SC4 bad. Which means it can be played as a herp derp, but not for anything serious.

As for the AG stuff, that’s what Justin did in that vid (I’m sure it was rogueyoshi he did it to)

LOL. You are amazing dude, you look for any excuse to quit a game.

That’s cool Shiki, that’s really all you can do now.

Right now I hate KoF but I’m going to keep playing it since I know it’s just getting used to how the system works. Basically I am being confused by what is invincible and what isn’t.

GG at EZ tonight. See a lot of people improving in KOF13,that’s good. Gotta stay on my toes. Glad to see people trying out BBCS2, still having a blast with the game. AE casuals are also fun at times. 3S i’m really out of practice in that game, still enjoy playing from time to time. Cathrine is a great game and I’m getting better fast.(@o@)/

@Will, Stay safe homie, its been a blast kickin it with ya. Don’t be a stranger. I’m moving back to Japan next summer so hit me up on FB. ANCHORS AWAY!!!(im sure I will see you again on the 17th before you leave. lol). We gotta do a going away party for you anyway! You Know how we do!!!

Good luck to everybody heading to RESE, I really wanted to go for KOF 13 but I have to work at 8am in the morning so…yeah (._.)

I’ve been having immense fun with the KOF demo, the game is amazing. I know I only have access to 6 characters but if Kula and Andy end up being on my main team I won’t be surprised. There are so many characters I want to play, I will probably have a few teams. The game is very refreshing, and I’m glad to finally have a game where there is more then 1-2 characters I’m interested in playing.

I’ll be picking the game up next week, get at me for some online matches. IIJosII eMe on xbox if you haven’t added me yet. If my friends list is full just send me a msg instead and I’ll make room then add you.

DP shortcuts in this game are interesting. Probably gonna get my training mode on today. Might swing by GF also.

i do not agree with using a magnavox hd tv to play on stream. i played like shit but oh well good stuff to jon and demo, I lost fair and square they didn’t let it bother them. Props to rdu taking kof.

Hey guys. It’s been a while and I don’t post much these days, but just wanted to let you know I have a kid now. Her name is Angie.

ANNNNNNNGIE BEEEEEEECEEEEEEEEEEE

Hey, Matt Frank playing KOFXIII? Awesome. Grapplers seem pretty strong in this game, and some are quite mobile. I think you’d like Yuri, 1F grab, dive kick, demon flip, little girl, annoying voice, shoes don’t make funny noises though.

If all of NC plays this game, even if I still suck at it, I’ll be happy at least.

We have a lot of solid players and there’s no reason we can’t dominate in the same way as when we had a group of players dominate in XI and NGBC.

Yeah that’s one of the things I’ve had trouble with too. A lot of stuff has new invincibility that I can’t understand why.
Why does the NORMAL version of Kyo’s HCB+K need invincibility (even if it’s lower body invincibility)???

wat?
