Way too far for me even if I took the day off. Fayettenam is like 140 miles away at best.
Hoping Lost Arc pulls something though I doubt it.
Still hoping the barfights happen day before Thanksgiving, though they probably shouldn’t. Tournies are the most fun when everyone doesn’t know what they can do.
If you are going to Lost Ark then Charlotte is not that far for you. There are a group that comes from Greensboro every week. You should see if you can ride with them. KOF will be at the Bar Fights for sure!!! I am hoping we get enough people that want to do a RanBat for it.
Yeah for sure. However depending on how early I get the game I may have it at the previous Bar Fight.
I wouldn’t mind doing a RanBat for it for FR. I need to have at least 6 people entering it though. I know I will enter it and my friend Pete will too. I am sure Shiki will be and a couple others so I imagine it will have the following needed to get the FR treatment. I will ask around the group and see.
anybody remember that awesome KoFXII release party DeMo threw? it was the shit wasnt it? yeah, I think that dude DeMo takes his KoF serious…yet all this KoF talk and nobody talks to me. I am sad now. gonna go sit in my corner and play single player games I guess.
Jon: yeah thats nothing new that there is this whole other scene out there. problem is they dont want to integrate in either direction. it wasnt that long ago that the Ed McKay cliq was posting here, talking big and such. and what happened there? they got beat and proceeded to disappear. nothing against the efforts of Tactiks but thats what I see happening with the Charlotte crew too, as is evidenced by that conversation following one of the members saying he only cares about his crew getting better. they are willing to feud with Greensboro, but when RDU was brought up, it was all but dismissed. why is that? IMHO (note OPINION) I feel as if certain players or groups of players are content with where they are. they might talk a big game about getting better, and they may even actually make strides to getting better, but they set a cap on how much they are willing to do or how many losses they are willing to take. like for example with the Charlotte vs Gboro thing, they are willing to have a rivalry with each other because of similar skill levels but seem to simply ignore the fact that they lose convincingly right in this state to RDU pretty much across the board, in all current titles. and thats not me just ragging on that area but rather me stating that instead of going “if you arent part of (insert area) or a member of (insert group)…then we dont care about you getting better” they should be reaching out to ANYONE they can learn from, or nothing will ever change.
I forgot I think you and Ed were two of the pretty big KOF 12 players right? That was a long time ago so my memory is so fuzzy. Didn’t you play Duo Lan though… I think? You should come out if you are able to for the launch party but if not then in December after classes are done/next semester I wouldn’t mind heading to Wilson to play some if you are going to focus a bit on 13 although even if you weren’t your advice on the game would be appreciated as i’m a KOF scrub to the max.
The more and more I see of Phoenix Wright, the less and I less I feel like he’s a gimmick character that will be held back by having to get the ball rolling. I always thought he’d be good if he could get his game started, but I felt like attempting to get it started was going to be hard for him and make him weak. All of the scenarios I have in my head of him failing to get started are being shown in various videos, and proven wrong. So this makes me happy. He seems very competitive and I see no reason why he couldn’t be a viable choice for tournament play.
Of course, who really knows until we get our hands on it. But my hopes are higher, that’s for sure.
WHAT? What rivalry? Greensboro just like to come out and play. There is no rivalry there at all. They are part of what I do here and find it more entertaining and convenient to drive to Charlotte than RDU to play games. I am not sure what you are talking about with the guys here dropping off but I have not seen anything to make me think that people here in Charlotte is giving up. And as far as dismissing RDU I have no idea what you are talking about there either. We know you have a couple good players but so do we. I am just trying to figure out your logic on that comment. I don’t see it dying down and people running off with their tails between their legs, if anything Charlotte and Fayetteville have the strongest scene. Sure your going to get a few people that don’t have what it takes to keep playing/losing but that is VERY small in comparison to the people who show everyday and keep playing/ holding sessions. Hell there are sessions going on in Charlotte and G’bo almost every day. Just look on the FB page and you can almost always find a session going on. Maybe that’s another problem that may make you think that, is that Charlotte is mainly on FB. I am also tired of People always dismissing Charlotte as scrubs/ lack of skill. Come on, seriously?
Maybe I am misunderstanding you but Charlotte is here to stay and is afraid of no one :china:
Add me on FB and the info is also on my sig below. Brian Tactiks Peck
Yeah it’s on Wednesdays I start around 730 and go all night till about 1am. I start early when I can or when someone comes in from out of town. Also a couple of guys from ATL makes the drive a couple times a month and I will see if they play KOF too.
Where did I dismiss Charlotte as scrubs or having a lack of skill? Also why do I feel as if you took offense to an observation? I am basing what I said off of 1. the results of the past few tournaments and 2. what I see on facebook. Having a rivalry isnt a bad thing either. Friendly rivalries drive people or communities to be better through competition, nothing wrong with that.
EDIT: also on an unrelated note. I am not too optimistic about the release of KoFXIII happening on time. my reason being that the Japanese version has been delayed to an undetermined date. trust me, ive been all over the net trying to buy it. so unless they do a simultaneous release, I say to not get your hopes for the domestic release happening on time.
Yeah they’re pretty bad, but there’s a lot of them and they play… maybe if they fight someone from outside their happy bubble they’ll see they need to level up.
Demo: I get where you’re coming from and that is common to happen, but I don’t like to write people off. I’ll give them a chance atleast, if they don’t have the heart they don’t have the heart. But, people like them and Charlotte are the future. Real life keeps picking all the old people off with his sniper rifle of responsibility, so the youngins gotta catch up at some point lol
re: Charlotte’s strong players, they have decent BB and Tekken don’t they? I don’t know of anyone of note in Capcom titles though.
No no I haven’t taken offense to it, I was just wondering where you were getting these ideas from. You are entitled to your opinion but you can’t base that off of one or two people trolling on FB, cause what I am seeing on the LOCAL is totally different.
We don’t think of Greensboro as Greensboro, we think of them as local players, RanBat players, cause they are there every time. Nothing more nothing less. I was just wondering who or where you got that whole RDU thing. I am curious what was said EXACTLY.
Oh it wasn’t you dismissing Charlotte as scrubs I was just throwing that in there, not directed at you
As far as playing one game vs. many competitively, haha I can tell you new guys don’t know me very well. I’ve entered 5-6 games at majors before. You could say I’m “focused” on AH3, but that’s mostly because there’s competition for that and everything else has either died down or the people I gather to play with aren’t into them. That said, I’ve found that I do better when I’m only playing 1-2 games…
This has been pretty much the only time since 2005 that I’ve had one “main” game. I did MB, GG and SF4 all at the same time for a while and I think I’ll probably be back to three or so games again soon.
yeah i agree with tactiks. i don’t remember the triad guys having a rivalry with charlotte at all, we just come out and play. the closest thing greensboro had as a rivalry was fayetteville.
