Let me know if any of you can bring a set up or if there are any games you want in.

It’s official, god doesn’t want me to play UMvC3. My 360 constantly red rings on and off so I buy Kevin’s 360 and it can run every game except UMvC3. For some reason whenever I put the disc in the system just freezes. I tried putting my disc into other 360’s and it runs just fine and it’s only happening with UMvC3 on Kevin’s 360. I haven’t been able to get any consistent practice in that game since the first week it was out. It sucks to have the time and effort to get good at something, but not the money.

About to head over now. Be prepaaaaaaaaared!

Yeah, if you’re good at punishing assists, getting rid of Dante is a good strategy. Without Jam Session, that team just doesn’t function properly.

When zoning with Wesker and Doom beam, the goal is not to win through the zoning itself, you’re just trying to shut down Zero’s game plan until you can get into a better position. Zoning with gunshot helps a lot because even though you’re not doing much damage, every time you hit Zero, he loses his Buster charge, so it really screws up his momentum, which is a victory in and of itself. However, if I could get him to block Doom, I would always teleport in and try to run a mixup. If it didn’t work out, then 99% of the time I’d get pushblocked back out to where I want to be anyway, so no big deal, go back to zoning. But I’m not trying to use the zoning to deal damage; if I get an opening on Zero, I want him dead, dead, dead. Zero is the most annoying character on that team. Dorm + Dante is still very good, but much more manageable.

Let me amend my earlier statement I can’t play any game now cause it freezes as soon as I try to boot up a game. So I have one 360 that constantly red rings and another that constantly freezes.

@Blake

I have lot of trouble against Dorm/Dante as well, but I need to be able to consistently get pass Zero first before I even worry about that. One problem is that Wesker has a lot of trouble killing off assists which is why I contemplated running Dorm first. I have a lot of ideas but can’t test out any of them without a functioning system.

I second the Idea of running from zero and not cornering your self. Also if you hit him he should be dead. Other than that know your moves that beat jump c and don’t forget his pressure lasts longer then you think with lightening and buster shots.

That character is pretty ridiculous though

Greetings from nec!

Whats up guys? Moved back to Jacksonville recently and was wondering if u guys know of anyone in my area that plays. All i remember is a handful of guys in the Wilmington area but if you guys know anyone hit me up

GGs at NCSU today

Had fun playing KOF today at State. Need to hit the lab up with my characters. My Kyo is probably my most complete character right now, though my K’ is on the way. Shen probably needs the most work, need to figure out reliable midscreen HD combos and other offensive options.

Good games at State and Ling’s. Learned a lot from both. Keep pushing KOF XIII guys. Don’t be afraid or intimidated by it. Once you learn the fundamentals of the game just start building from there like any other fighting game. Was happy to see someone sit down and try it out for the first time. I just don’t want to see the game die out in like two months. Gotta keep it alive!

How well does Dante build meter in Ultimate? I’ve seen his combos not do as much damage as before, but he still has to be usable then just his assist?

Dante is not the king of batteries like he was in Vanilla, but he can still do meter positive 700k+ combos by himself. He is a perfectly viable character in Ultimate. That statement was mostly in regards to Jon’s team, as Jam Session is a very powerful assist for both Zero and Dormammu. More importantly, if you can get rid of Dante, the team kind of falls apart. Dark Hole assist is just nowhere near as powerful or versatile for Zero to use (though he can still use it in combos), and Dormammu gets almost no benefit from any of Zero’s assists (you can kinda use Hadangeki to set up teleport mixups, everything else is pretty useless). This is part of the mindset needed to play Marvel, the team is the sum of its parts.

Well for right now I’m trying to use Vergil/Dante/Akuma. Vergil has some unsafe stuff, so I’m trying to use Dante or Akuma to cover. Plus I like Vergil’s meter gain. If I need to I’ll switch from Vergil to Dante, but still use Akuma as anchor or XFactor when needed. I need to run practice mode with them a lot, but for right now that’s the team I’m trying to play with. Beam assists just seems like the thing that could completely keep my team out and destroy me, so I’m trying to figure out ways to get in with them. Plus I need practice my combos. Dropping even the easy stuff.

Anybody in the RDU area trying to Play some KOF 2day?

Don’t think I may be getting around today, but Bryan will have KOF at his place Tuesday if you’re interested.

Vergil is more assist dependent than Dante, so I typically would run him first. Akuma doesn’t really work for him, so I would replace him with a good projectile or beam assist character. Taskmaster or Doom fit the bill. Another option is to put Wesker in anchor and use that to boost Vergil’s damage.

Good Job Jon!!!

Hmmm that seems to be a coincidence, the power supply and av cable for that xbox is laying around at EZ, go grab those and test the box, power supplies have been known to go bad, and try to run the game w/o the HD

At first it froze only when playing UMvC3, then it started freezing during any game, then it just froze when ever I tried booting up the console ultimately leading to 3 red lights. My power supply is green and when I boot up either console (mine or yours) without the AV cable the lights don’t show up but I think that’s due to the video chip not being powered which is probably the source of the problem. If I get a chance to play today at EZ I’ll test out both systems with different cords.

On that note does anyone in Fayetteville feel like playing games today? I know Mikaul is at work and Dustin is doing homework, but what about Raf, Nathan, Sal, etc. I’m starving for some matches.

I never play my xbox. If you want to borrow it for a bit I’ll let you, in the interest of having someone in NC that maybe could beat me lol. I’d just want it back after a bit.

As far as my team, if you guys really start going for Dante, I’ll just sougenmou Zero and use Dorm with double hadangeki (also pretty good, just not as good as jam session). I don’t think Dorm is as threatening to Zero as Wesker is though, Wesker’s pokes and mobility are a bit better. Dorm needs breathing room to turn into an asshole and Zero really doesn’t afford that. You could try counter supering j.C, I can’t cancel that move and I do it so much it should be pretty easy to bait. Wesker kills Zero if he gets it… course if you guess wrong then Zero kills Wesker. I think you can assist / teleport cross up outside of Zero’s effective range so maybe try to go for that more. Also if Wesker gets near me I’m just mashing push block so I don’t have to worry about command throws. In the corner I don’t have to worry about you running so I can just fight from max range of my normals without worrying about retaliation so that’s mainly why things get so shitty there. Tatsu assist, for some reason, also blows up Zero a lot of the time. When akuma comes out it feels like I can’t hit him sometimes and once the tatsu makes contact, even if I blocked, you can get in and attempt a 2A / command grab mixup.

That’s my 2 cents.

Where’s Bryan Live?
