Haha I found this post amusing. No disrespect intended Sofa_King honestly, just funny when someone calls others random then tells an OG Alpha 3 player he never heard of him playing haha. If requested, A3 can be at EZ on Fridays, I know a guy personally who’d play it :D.
Austin dont even try to play kensou he is trash
wassup wit everybody liking A3
Kensou seems good though o_o Easy hit confirm rekkas, dive kick, slow and fast fireballs, a DP he can combo off of. Does he just not have good damage or his pokes suck or something?
Really? K is that good? Is he just high damage or something? It didn’t seem like he had that man options.
@Jabroni Kenshin: As amusing as it may be I think you misunderstand. Matt has never heard of me playing A3 and I’ve never heard of Matt playing A3. Heck, I didn’t think anybody in NC actually played the game anymore and forgot how fun it was. The people I played at AZ that year clearly never really played A3 much, so I’m not gonna talk like I played against all the NC players and beat them hands down or something. He may be OG to you and I’m pretty sure a very good OG at that, but everybody in NC are new to me maybe minus Austin, Garrett, and Kris. Plus I’ve never been big on titles for personal reasons. But if A3 is gonna be at EZ on Fridays even if I can’t carpool up there I may just have to find some way to make it up there.
I don’t think accurately reflects what the situation with this leak of KOF 13 is. Even if your PC version runs this game smoothly, it’s still going to have the input latency from the arcade rip. The console version which is coming out in a few months is going to have significant updates. Although availability is a serious issue, I think the biggest problem is simply that this game isn’t where it needs to be.
I’m not ready to dismiss the fact that only a few people in the state having working access to a version of the game that still has several flaws. Even when we’d fool around with Arcana on PC, people already had their imported version of the final game. Those two experiences were roughly the same. This isn’t the case with XIII. Maybe I’m pessimistic but I see that this thing has the potential to harm the KOF scene long term. Nobody wants to admit to being this guy, but very few people are going to want to get blown up by the one person who has the game when they could be spending their time at a gathering playing several of the still brand new games we have (AH3, BBCS2, SF4 AE, MK9) with established competition/versions of the game.
For Final Fantasy Anthology, $15. Around $400 give/take for the macbook pro.
@ Sumaragi: Put me down for the FFA for $15. The Macbook Pro will have to bail on. Are you going to EZ this Friday?
Kinda like Brandino + AH3?
Atleast that’s how it was for me. I saw him play and pretty much just like
And went to play other shit.
Most likely not because I have to work on Friday and Saturday. If you know anyone from Greensboro who IS going though, I can give it to them and pass it on.
Sent you a pm about some stuff Sumaragi. also Brandino + AH3, he had the game just as long as anyone else who preordered the game. I didn’t have a PS3 at the time but bought one just for that game and a good few of the other AH3 regulars also didn’t have a ps3 or didn’t have the cash to buy the game so I don’t know if that’s the best comparison. He just put in the time needed to get good.
Alright, cool. I’ll get a list of my anime and manga posted up when I get off work tonight.
Also Sofa_King, I can ship it to you as well, or if you want to hold on, I should be coming to the EZ tournament in July?
Okay so, here’s a list of my anime. Manga will come after I get off work.

My input on current NC stuff

KoF XIII. Im gonna repeat what I said a few pages back and say that outside of being a special attraction at gatherings/tournaments, nobody needs to be trying to push this game too hard right now. Its just not gonna run properly and trying to set it up will be a major pain. having access to it to show people the game is all well and good but trying to make a community for a game that most people are only going to flirt with anyways could cause more harm than good. anybody who intends to play it will be grabbing it in October anyways.

K’. yes he is that good Jon.

early access to KoF (or any game) in general. while i would LOVE for people to get into it and actually stick with it, not many people have proven they will stick with the series. Everybody got all excited about KoF 2003 when the first loketest vids were shown. I bought the home cart version ($625) on release day. People flirted with it and dropped it. but that was a good while ago. more recently people got all aroused over KoF XI. I bought a goddamn consolized Atomiswave with the ROM cart ($2800) and I can name on one hand who came out and played it. having a game early means absolutely dick in the big picture if the community as a whole cant play it when/how/where they want. the point has been made that NOBODY wants to sit and have someone rehearse their training mode combos on them when they dont even know how to initiate drive cancel. heed this warning.

sofa_king. im not trying to start any type of flame war or anything with you but you seem to making a lot of bold statements that end up having no substance to them. you want to play certain games, but wont travel to where they are played. you call out certain titles, but dont know who in the state is good at the games you call out. animazement is not a good way to guage if a game is played or how good the competition is in this state. even a new player can come in here and with very little effort find out who plays what. our GG players are known. Frank the Tank (or was it still the old name then) is a common name in GG, so is BeastofFire. our 3S players are known. its nothing to look up Roski or Knuckledust or Face or Saisyu or Commonsense or Jibbo. and lots of those names spread across other games. be it old school SF, or the Alpha series, or KoF or anything else. we have quite a few games that if you want real competition in them, its as easy as asking who plays it here. not saying you should be dickriding anybody here but to come in with your chest out saying you want to see who is serious about “insert games” and not make any excuses about it, you really havent been showing up ANYWHERE other than the few times ive seen you at NCSU and the one time at Prinny’s. you seem like a cool dude and all but you gotta put in some grunt work before you can stand up and command like a general. come to a few sessions. dish out some L’s in these games you say you want to play. then the competition will always be available to you. also if you want to play TEKKEN, why not go to TZ? we have RDU gatherings EVERY OTHER TUESDAY, which is close to you. but have you shown up? NOPE. its hard to take you serious about calling others out about being serious when you arent showing anything.
I have personally reached out to you on a number of occasions, inviting you over to my place to play and to the sessions that I’ve had. You live in Raleigh right? I don’t understand your trouble with breaking into the scene, I am still very new to the NC fighting game scene and just started playing with everyone a few months ago.
All you need to do is show up at the sessions posted, be serious about playing and reach out. My take on everyones view on ‘new comers’ is that people start to show up and are all gung ho about fighting games, then phase out and quit after getting blown up a few times. I’ve tried to show that this isn’t the case with me by showing up to tournaments, travelling to play and reaching out to play as much as possible. Still I’m not sure if I’m viewed as a regular yet, but I’m able to play FG offline and improve which is what I’m after.
If you do the same I can’t see it working out any differently for you. Although my session this week was canceled, since you live close to me if you’d like to come by for some games Saturday let me know. I play on xbox and I’ll play AE, mvc3, BBCS2, KOF12, all of which I own.

Demo was the first person I met offline from SRK. I did what he said to get involved, and it worked. I know he’s posted multiple times with suggestions for you to get started - try to follow his suggestions.
Sam. PMs. Check them.
Unless you’re talking to another Austin I don’t plan on playing 13. Game is a bit too much for me. =/
On another note **OMG **TRUE STORY:
A couple of scientists in Antarctica were exploring when they came across a massive system of underground ice caverns. After only a short period of time of investigating the caverns a large amount of ice shifted and closed off the exit to the caverns trapping the scientists. Fortunately the ice was not thick enough to prevent their SOS signal from reaching their base to contact for help. With the message received, it was understood that it would take atleast 2 hours before help would arrive and an unknown amount of hours to get through all of the ice to reach the trapped scientists. As the trapped explorers waited, their resources started growing thin. To make things worst their heater, which they were using to keep them warm as well as melt the ice for water, was going out prematurely. By this point help had arrived but it was estimated that it would take atleast 5 hours to break through the icy wall. So as a last resort the trapped scientists pulled out a portable battery. On checking it they realized they had grabbed the wrong one and that the one in their current possession was only half-way charged. Regardless it was all they had. So they hooked up a setup to play several matches of Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. The rage induced from playing this game and against each other allowed the scientists to produce enough body heat to prevent themselves from freezing to death as well get water. And just in the nick of time as the battery lost all of its power the rescue team made it through and transported the scientists to safety. One of the scientists recalled the incident:
"Yeah it was a scary moment in our lives. I really didn’t think we were going to make it. Fortunately we had a copy of Marvel vs. Capcom in our backpacks. Let me tell you, if it weren’t for my partner’s love for Phoenix and Wesker, I probably wouldn’t be standing here today."
First let it be known, that based on the videos I’ve seen since the patch, I don’t personally agree 100% with most of the tier list. Only the very top and very bottom are very solidified at this point.
Like it’s obvious K’, Raiden, Andy, Shen, etc. are really fucking good and Clark, Vice, and Athena are trash for various reasons.
Most of the known top-tier so far are some of the easiest characters to use, so it would make sense for them to rise to top. I think there are lot of underrated characters right now like Kensou, Chin, Mai, Daimon, etc. that have the potential to rise. They just don’t have the safe, braindead options into big damage.
He doesn’t have HUGE damage like Raiden and Shen, but basically he is a completely well-balanced KOF character with all of his tools in a game where so many of the cast have lost the tools they had before. He has no real flaws, no bad match-ups, can play any style, and works well into any team position.
The only sorta overpowered thing about him is his Jump D AKA the WIN BUTTON. It doesn’t lose to ANYTHING.
Someone trying to AA you? Jump D.
Someone trying to rush you down? Neutral Jump D.
Someone trying to turtle in the corner? Hyper Hop D.
Someone trying to pin you in the corner? Super Jump D or Roll and then Jump D.
Someone trying to Jump D you? Block and then Short Hop D.
Full screen away? Hyper Hop D.
@ austin. no fucking way…
on another note im seriously thinking about going to evo this year since my uncle has a place in cali and wants me to come. can someone with evo experience tell me the basics of what I need to have and do? also can i register when I get there or do i have to do it online? thanks in advance.
@ Austin
I hope this is true just for the hilarity of it.
