North Carolina Players XXV: So free, so ****ing free

deal!

Tony, I’m pretty sure I’m crashing on Matt’s floor on Thursday, but then staying with you guys Friday and Saturday.

Yeah, that’s it Tony. I didn’t know you were staying with us Bryan (first I’ve heard about it), but if Blaine is coming then we may be packed. If not, then I’ve got no problems with it.

Offline tournament anyone?

Y’all better start kissing Alex’s white ass, he got some hot-high-maintenance hoes stashed up at ATL… I’m complementing his shirt right now just to get a sit down with them when we get there. I know it’s a little low, but at the end of the day, I’m the one who’s doing the hoes and y’all are just doing the games — FINAL ROUND!!!

FR get hype. Peter is gonna get more hoes than a farmer.

Also, finally found an easy way to combo fei’s ultra. j.HK ultra combos… -_-

So simple I didn’t even think about it.

Good luck ever getting j.HK that deep to hit.

Damn, none of yall are interested in Alex’s hoes? This board is getting weird(er)… One question, if you’re not playing Blanka in SF4, what’d you do against Rufus bullshit divekick?

Doesn’t even really have to hit that deep. Just jump over a fireball, j.HK -> ultra.

You’d definitely have to know it’s gonna hit though, since not hit confirming that would be pretty dumb.

vs. Rufus dive kick, just uppercut if you can react to it. Otherwise…jumping attacks beat it ie: jump straight up RH. Not sure what pokes would beat it out but I’ve traded with things like Ryu HK plenty so I’m sure you can trade with dictator HK too. Also, low pokes seem to trade with it a lot, strangely enough.

From what little I’ve seen, it seems to me that the dive kick is fast but low priority. I hope that’s the case.

Just to help out here, there is no such thing as priority. It’s a hitbox/speed issue. Where you are/where he is/when he activates the divekick/the hitbox on the move you’re trying to counter it with are the things to be concerned with. The word “priority” is merely a combination of all of these factors. Kinda like how 3S Chun b+fierce is sometimes a GDLK AA but other times it gets flat out stuffed.

For example, Ryu low strong can stuff it from a distance, but up close it’ll either trade or flat out lose, since the hitbox on the divekick is more underneath Rufus than out in front. The low strong will usually win up close if the divekick is activated low to the ground, since it isn’t really that fast to become active (11 frames). However, if it’s higher up, the divekick’s hitbox will make contact with Ryu’s head before the low strong’s hitbox touches Rufus, therefore Rufus wins.

Yeah, I think Alex knows that. I don’t use the word either since we’re talking about fighting and not the mail, but “bad priority” is certainly easier to say and people know what you’re talking about than like “bad hitbox properties in general situations”.

I wonder if I can Soul Throw it. Probably not, seems like I have to read things earlier than a DP character does…and I’ve no idea how the game decides what I can grab.

Dammit, with all this talk about Priority every time I see Rufus’s dive kick I’m gonna hear that “Fly Like an Eagle” jingle in my head.

Actually, I’ve never really thought of it in that manner. I guess I always viewed it as kind of an intuitive thing. If move A hits move B at the exact same time then move A wins and move A has higher priority. Matt makes sense though. Shout to my homie Divekicks.

 3rd strike starts on Sunday. This is looking bad.

I don’t have to work on Monday so that’s not a big deal. I was just emphasizing the fact that I’m not staying the night in Atlanta if I can help it.

I did get your message though, and I want to try and leave on Thursday around noonish. The goal is to avoid rush hour in Charlotte. Lemme know if that’s okay with you.

Try jabbing it. That’s how Chun gets out of divekick bullshit.

Yeah standing or crouching light attacks will beat it clean with alot of characters. At least it seems that way, if he’s in your face and shit.

Hey I’m still working out plans for my vehicle so I’ll let you know what’s up.

That’s how I think of it too, but I still say priority just because it conveys all those ideas in a nut shell. But as far as deciding what poke to use at what time to beat whatever, I think it’s better to think of things as hit boxes and the like and not just “Oh this is high priority”. IE: if you DP a fireball in some games where the DP will go through the fireball, you’re not really thinking “yeah this DP has more priority than the fireball”, it’s more of like, knowing where you hit box is (in the DPs case, non existent).

Problem is though we can’t see the hitboxes unless we’re playing STHD. So a lot of the times intuitive general guessing such as Alex does is probably better. I guess it’s a feeling vs knowing type thing. Either one works.

Just to remind people…we NEED at least one person from NC to qualify for the HD Remix team.

Kevin Michaels is entering right? Matt? Juergen?
