Well, I wouldn’t plan on going unless you can get together around $400. The room is going to be like around 250-280 for 4 nights, split however many ways. Let’s say we have 5 people, so about $55/person for that. The flight is going to be around 230-250 or maybe higher depending, and venue/registration/food eats up the rest.
For the hotel, MrWiz’s discount is ok, but some sites are doing a book 3 nights get 1 free deal, which works out a good bit cheaper.
I’ve come to the conclusion that Blanka is a Namco character. @_@
Tournament was fun. Time to go into the lab and get better.

That’s a fine question. Why would one think that a company that has a success rate of 0% when it comes to making good, long lasting competitive games would all of a sudden start doing so now, when they’ve obviously been putting most of their efforts into graphical enhancement?

XII has a chance to really capitalize on the market. Not to say that capcom isnt doing well with sf4 but there is some backlash among players about that game as far as the engine is concerned compared to 3s. Its no doubt that snkp saw the direction in which capcom has taken sf4 and tired to provide fans with an alternate route, with a more complex engine ie: more defensive and offensve strats as well as keeping the classic 2d interface with hand drawn sprites and backgrounds. As a business major i can look at thier product and say that snkp has thought about it and taken the necessary precautions not to fuck up this time. They know they made games that didnt appeal to the U.S. market they have smart people at corporate headquarters. XII will be fine dont worry.
English voices in XII are god-awful.
Well Evo is a 3 day event from July 17-19(Fri.-Sun.), so I plan on staying there 1 day before and after the event, which makes it 5 days, from July 16-20(Thu.-Mon.). The Rio Hotel & Casino where Evo is being hosted at lists $84 on weekends(Fri.-Sat.) and $49 on weekdays(Wed.-Thu. & Sun.-Mon.). So in total the rooms would cost $343.35(including the 9% tax). If I have 5 roommates(including me), that would bring the grand total to 441.45(that’s an extra $90 since it’s +$30 for every extra person past 2, plus tax). Divide that by 5 and each person pays $88.29, which can be rounded off to $90. I did a few price checks online for round trip flights, and they’re pretty damn expensive, cheapest ones averaged at $350. So the flight plus the hotel equals somewhere around $440. And depending on how much you eat/party/etc. you might need an extra $100-$200 spending cash.
Room - $90
Flight- $350
Extra- $200
Total- $640
Seems pretty damn expensive to go to Evo, so I’m only going to go if I can find a decent amount of roommates, and if I can save at least $600 before June. If anyone can find a cheaper flight let me know, and my math may be off just a little bit.

Just noticed that every time I refresh the page on expedia.com the price changes. Apparently it goes up and down depending on how many people are booking flights to Las Vegas that day. Cheapest one I’ve seen so far was $300.

I forgot to factor in the price of Evo itself. There is a $30 venue fee and $10 each to enter SFIV and STHD. So that’s an extra $50 for me to attend. Damn it Evo, why are you so expensive?

On one hand I want to call you a hater (you KNOW that touch of flair was smooth), even given there is some semblance of truth to your statement although you CANT say that all they have focused on its graphical enhancement when NONE of us have even touched the game YET which is the SAME overused defense given when people said they didnt like the way SFIV LOOKED. But on the other hand I have faith that you were able to read through my sarcasm in my post.
I will admit that I am marking out hard style NOT just b/c Robert fixed his vest in his SDM, WOOT OH EM GEE thats so hot BBQSAUCE, but I am marking out for the entire game just like everyone marked out for SFIV in the coming months before we all got our hands on it. I know its too early to call KOFXII any of those adjectives that I placed on it in my earlier post but I can say that I feel (NOTE:OPINION) as if KOFXII is the more natural progression of 2D than SFIV. I have no problem openly coming out and saying that at this time I just dont like SFIV as much as I thought I would. Yes that may have alot to do with the fact that the game is still pretty new and there is A TON of info we dont have, but it also has alot to do with the fact that I JUST DONT LIKE the way the matches feel. Be it playing them or watching them. My personal preferences just point me more towards SNK than Capcom…outside of 3S, the games from SNK are just more aesthetically pleasing , I feel more rewarded by learning the intricacies of them, and I overall just enjoy them more than the majority of Capcom titles. And those preferences cant be changed.
