That makes two of us.
Tiers or no tiers, it won’t make much difference in the level of play you’ll find around the NC area. We have good competition here in NC. Sure, we’re not Evo-Gods but we don’t need to be to have fun. Unless you think you’re going to be the best in the world and going to shut out Justin Wong and become the next “Evo moment” then all of this talk about tiers is wasted breath as it really won’t impact us that much at our level of play.
Learn your match-ups, play your character, and stop worrying about tiers until it really starts to matter…which will likely be never.
Have to accept the fact that there will never be THE perfect fighting game. I don’t know if GG is perfectly balanced but assuming it is, it doesn’t have nearly the appeal that SF does.
I’m not the biggest Sammy/Arc Systems fan out there but BlazBlue looks amazing. Here’s to hoping it actually gets an american version and gains some popularity (not likely).
So, tier discussions aside…wassup?
Wan 2 play gayme? :china:
Dude it was announced LAST YEAR that blazblue would have an american console release. Heck the American arcade version came out the same day as the Japanese arcade version. And just this month the console version got a release date (June 26th). Otherwise yes, can’t wait for BB.
Looks like someone needs a wakeup call. Cya this weekend.
as far as tiers go…i play ryu in third strike… im going to say that tiers plays a big role IF you want to ONLY play to win… but if you do that, i think it makes the game boring for one.
just play someone you enjoy playing… but i dont think i can win in a major using ryu…some people might say, that im losing before going in, and that its all in my head…
but i think im just being realistic, and realizing that im play a inferior character in the game.
but i also have a goal to have fun too. im not going to play a game if im not having fun.
p.s
how did it go at VA for the peeps that went?
No doubt I expect a few monsters to be in the community but I sorta speak of (not for) the majority of players. There are tons of just rubbish fighters out there. You know who I talk about. The ones who pick Ken all day everyday, wake up with Ultras and fierce or EX shoryukens. These guys will likely trade in SF4 and call it gay as they purchase the new Midnight Club. (i’ve seen it happen.)
Then you have a bunch who are pretty damn good and have a tight grasp of the game and know what they’re doing. They’ll get better but won’t likely get out of this group. These are the “good” players you’ll bump into the most. I consider myself to be in this group, along with a lot of people i’ve met from here so far.
Then you have beasts. A level a lot of players will never see. These guys execute shit easily that most players struggle to pull off against a training dummy. They can play a very basic game and still mop the floor with you. When you go up against these guys, you know within the first 10 seconds of the match that you are going to have everything you throw at them handed back to your ass on a silver platter. They “get it”.
lol @ player tiers
I’m mid tier lawlz :karate:
Honestly NC isn’t far behind any other state when it comes to fighting games, I think they proved that at Final Round XIII. If NC starts taking SFIV seriously I could very well imagine us being as big of a threat as Cali or NY.
This is just a really fucking stupid statement. No one just “gets” a fighting game without having to put work into it. These “beasts” you refer to have probably been playing for upwards of a decade. So they already have a strong grasp of footsies and shit.
Long story short, fucking practice. If you keep that attitude, yeah, you never will get above what you deem to be a “mid-tier” player. That’s a really self-defeating attitude to take about different players.
to add to this ^^^
who are you again? It says you’re a 09 member but you talk like you’ve known everybody around here for a while.
Brandino you still down for the tournament
Yeah I’m still down and I got your PM. If you can spot me gas money that would be great.: wink: I plan on leaving from your place early in the morning (most likely around 8:00 am).
Just PM me your address, phone #, and I’ll pretty much be set. Unless something freakishly retarded happens you can pretty much expect me there around 6:30-7:00pm @ your place.
Is anyone gonna have a PS3 with STHD running for casuals at Lucky? Just wanna know out of curiosity.
Anyone complaining about tiers in SFIV needs to shut the fuck up. SFIV is by far and away the most balanced Street Fighter in a long time. Of course, the tiers will shift and some characters might end up being “overpowered”, but not so much as to warrant complaining about.
Play more 3S/CvS2/GGAC.
Yeah. See, those are online players. We’re offline tournament players. Don’t talk about “NC” like we’re “rubbish”. I think we only have like one Ken player, and I’d shit my pants if I saw Blake do a random wakeup ultra.
And yeah, do you know us or something?
SFIV is also by far and away the ONLY Street Fighter in a long time.
Coincidence?
Also, Fuzz is a cool guy. He’s not insulting anyone here so pull your dildos out of your assholes.
Brent, you’re the last person I’d expect to act like a dick to a new guy.
I’m being a dick? He’s assuming my friends are a bunch of online Ken scrubs.
Please point out where he said that.
Take your time.
Yeah, you are. In that your avatar is too fcking flashy and is going to give me a seizure.
Matt posts. He decides to clarify himself.
I don’t know how it could be any clearer.
