Mmmm, love the character selection art.
All of Fayetteville has 360s. Although I may be getting a ps3 but i’m still on the fence about that.
I think before that happens we need to use Elena’s super art…

But all of Matt Frank has PS3s. That’s an important demographic.
As does most of the Triad.
As well as all of RDU.
As does state
Yep. While the GameStop tourney could be considered by some as “not a real tournament”, I’m still going to try my luck. Hey, it’s free and since it looks like I won’t be able to get my preorder, a little extra SFIV action shouldn’t hurt.
That’s in RDU by the way, no difference.:wgrin:
Okay, so I actually found one HSDM that looks cool–King’s.

It’s so obvious that SNK just is throwing shit out in this to see what sticks.
I am going to be SHOCKED if this has anything other then MvC2-style balance. Not that we’ll ever play this outside of emulation/piracy though.
As does Dracula’s Castle, NC.
Even though online play isn’t the same as local play, for obvious reasons… it’s still has great potential to help you improve.(if you’re taking a more serious approach to this game that is.) Not every character is used locally. And even if it is the same characters as your local scene, regions tend to play differently. West Coast players tend to have a slightly different style than East Coast players in many cases. Some games, you can’t tell. Others, you can clearly see. Alpha2, Alpha3, 3rd Strike, Marvel, and Tekken are great examples. They play a little differently. It opens you up to styles and builds experience against stuff you wouldn’t have went up against otherwise. (watching somebody deal with a style or tactic in a video, is different than actually going against it yourself)
The PS3 vs 360 online experience (lag, playability) is hard to gauge, because it seems the personal experiences vary too much. Some people say it’s pretty much the same lag or lack there of. People say that if you have a high speed connection, either system doesn’t matter. Some say it’s a pretty clear difference. Me personally, I’ve had two friends bring over their systems. I recently downgraded my internet connection from RoadRunner full, to RoadRunner lite. (Since I’m never home, and just use it to torrent stuff anyway) We tested it on RoadRunner Full, then on lite a few weeks later…
On Roadrunner Full:
PS3- Ran pretty smooth, a laggy pocket maybe once every 3 or 4 games. But only for 2 seconds or so. It seemed the inputs were clearly frames behind what they should be, but it wasn’t laggy in the sense of jumping around and teleporting. It seemed smooth, but laggy in the sense of delay.
360- Ran much smoother than the PS3. Inputs seemed to go between flawless and maybe a frew frames off at times. But much better than the PS3.
On Roadrunner Lite:
PS3 - Connection was rather annoying. Would clearly lag and skip. Very annoying. Would go throgh laggy pockets for about 5 - 6 seconds, about 3 times a game. Then run somewhat smooth in between. (can’t expect much, downgraded internet service)
360 - Ran relatively smooth considering. Only issues is when we went into a room with mediocre ping or worse.
Based on what I’ve experienced… if online play is that important to you, 360 is the way to go. But, I’ve read where people run similar tests, and the systems play with the same point of lag. Or, people upgraded their internet connection thinking that was the issue, and the 360 doesn’t do any better. (while other upgrade their connection, and it does so much better) Some people say their high speed connection runs flawlessly with the game, even on PS3.
If you are buying it just for this game alone, which it seems like a lot of people have/will be lately… I guess it’s better to think about what’s important for you. For example, I pretty much stopped with the competitive fighting scene. If I were to get it, I would go with the PS3, simply because that’s what most of my friends have. And if I did play it, it would be casual games just to have fun with my friends. (outside of SFIV, I like the idea of getting a bluray player, and the region free ability for games too with a PS3)
So… is 3S dead yet? lol Chun and Yun still top tier? Anything new in that game?
Jive Out!
Hmm so many mixed opinions. I really wonder how good the online play for the computer version is gonna be. I’ve never understood how online play for stuff like Melty could be so amazingly good and yet big name companies can’t get their shit together for stuff like SF4 or Brawl or whatever.
Whoever did the netcode for Melty needs to be hired for every god damn company in existence. It’s too bad of all games, that was the only one I remember with almost perfect online play.
Above post has it right.
And yes, connection makes a huge difference. That HD session I did yesterday- playing Lobo it was perfect, playing that annoying Ken from CA was 99% perfect, playing Blackspade was horrible.
Seriously, I primarily train online for two reasons:
a) I want to make sure I never get beaten by someone’s shitty gimmick.
b) I want to make my own gimmicks not shitty, and the best way to do that is to run them until someone shows you what it loses to.
wtf bro. keep that shit out of here. and besides is that even possible?
daaaaaaayum:wow:
kings super is beast, it reminds me a lil bit of jhun’s super from '99
Billy’s is neat as well, and in 2k2UM they made it not suck (reduced startup on it heavily)
If 2k2UM actually gets local play (which I doubt) , probably going Billy, Maxima, Andy
im down for palying this, idk what happened to 98 um that game was awesome cant wait till they port it on xbl
delayed until 2010 because Ignition doesn’t give a crap.
I’m pretty much done with supporting SNK because they delay shit too damn long.
