North Carolina Players XXIV: What's in your SF4 syllabus?

Here’s my reasoning.

How many times I year am I going to play offline? I work weekends, you guys don’t want to play midweek. I can play online anytime I want, and find quality comp. Getting to play with you guys in a pain in the ass given my work schedule. On top of that, I like different shit then you guys a lot of the time- SF4 will be the first time in years that I’ll be in line with you guys. It’s also getting hard to hell to get to Lucky’s for me- after this next one I may just stop going regularly.

I feel like I’m a better player getting the online comp night in and night out. This past month, I feel like I seriously levelled up my ST skills for example. On top of that, you guys don’t cover everything, especially if a game is balanced with a large roster. I mean, I haven’t heard a single one of you guys say you’ll play Rufus. What if you run into him in a tourney?

That’s not to say I plan to quit tournies forever, next year I plan to hit FR13 or Evo. Unsure which one. I’ll have the vacation time and money. It’s a lot cheaper to play online, even with XBL.

Therefore, online play is more important to me. I don’t feel the lag affecting the gameplay as much as you guys do- unless the connection is bad. Then again , I started with kaillera, and XBL is a lot better then kaillera. This is also why I paid for a good custom 360 stick, but don’t have one for PS3 (or even PS2 as quite simply, I never liked any of the PS2-gen fighters)

That is kind of candy…:looney:

This match in Basara X:‘cross’ gives strong support to the life motto “Never give up” Watch complete match.

jesus, why is this guy still posting so much? nobody cares if you play, jeff.

It is wearing a little thin on me as well…:annoy:

Here’s my explanation for why I want to play SF4:

and that’s why Dan is going to be S tier, and none of you guys play him. I need the online comp!

Ordinarily I don’t, but that time I did.

I’m just getting started though. More souls will be photoshopped; offered up to the retard horde, they shall be.

I heard retard souls are going for a high price on the markets today. Too many of them already in use I heard.

Seth is the ULTIMATE LIFEFORM, TYRANT. Seriously, Albert Wesker should be standing somewhere in the background nodding in approval. T-virus + TACKLE + Kirby “suck you in n’ steal yo moves” = too good. Yeah though, bosses in 3D games/Street Fighter tend to be kinda lame. DOA especially, jello Kasumi.

Yeah, doubt there’s going to be anything broken in the in-game tutorial mode lol.

Ryucross: Yes there is a Japanese voice option right off the bat in options of the US version. But that switches ALL of the spoken dialogue to Japanese. Pre-fight, cinemas, EVERYTHING. Now once you beat it with a character you do unlock the option to toggle that character’s voice from English to Japanese (which is what I prefer).

Q: The Sham-Wow is definitely on time. Rose is quite fun. Even though I miss her old lvl2 super. But her voice alone warrants the pick haha.

As far as the PS3/360 conversation goes:

I also have BOTH systems. I dont think that online play should be the factor that decides which console you purchase. Price of course should matter, but at the end of the day its going to come down to ease of use. And I PERSONALLY say that the PS3 is the system to buy in that case. First off, if you MUST have online then its FREE. Yes, it may not always run as smoothly as it does on 360, but I thought we already had the debate that online play doesnt really matter except for casual play. And it shouldnt be too hard to find comp from ANY of us up here on either system. Second, its alot cheaper to buy a GOOD $25-$40 converter for a stick that you are already comfortable with than to buy a completely new stick. Third, as Blake pointed out…the eventual failure rate will catch up to you if you buy a 360. I dont want to hear all the crap about MS WILL pay for it if it breaks, b/c they wont. They only pay for it if it can be confirmed that its a RROD. They dont pay for HD failures. They dont pay for basic hardware failure. Honestly its not a question of IF your 360 is going to crap out, its a matter of WHEN it will. Every time I power mine on (which ive done alot lately for SF4) I feel like im playing a game of russian roulette. Ive got two 360s. My launch system ive thankfully NEVER had to send in, but my second 360 has been replaced 4 times BY ITSELF. Ive also got two PS3s…and ive only ever had to replace either of those once and that was purely my fault b/c my system got dropped accidentally @ one of the Lucky’s tournaments last year. Do the math on that. Plus isnt the PS3 going to be tournament standard anyways for all the common sense reasons pointed out already? I say go with the PS3. Thats just MY opinion.

I :lovin: Cammy. ALOT.

O.

EDIT: On a side note. T6BR on the 360? SERIOUSLY!!

Yeah, I’ll get a PS3. :lovin:

Thanks guys!

“Thou shalt not partake of Tekken on a Microsoft system”.

I believe that’s somewhere in the Bible…

I also wonder what the specs and DRM will be on SF4 PC. Capcom is known for being shitty on DRM, but if the specs are reasonable enough, SF4 on PC if done right would be a good compromise, as no one would have to go out of their way to get it (just $40) and everyone’s sticks work on PC.
If SECURom is used, no sale though. Steam I’ll live with- though I’d rather see it on Impulse or Gamersgate.

Ultimately, PCs will always be a much better experience then any consoles. I think that’s something we can all agree on.

I’m also making this crazy bet- someone will find a way to mod SF4 to put GGPO into the game “unofficially”. Melty got hacked to have online play, and GGPO has been hacked to work with RB2.

If it’s done right, Tekken doesn’t inspire me, SF4 gets an active PC scene, and VF5R still has no hints of coming out- I may just screw console altogether.

Cool. What is next on the list boys?

shrug PC has its own pluses and minuses. I love my PC but the eventual upgrade is going to be a bitch and a half.

For you guys talking about that SF4 gamestop tournament, I went by there tonight and the flier lists the date as 2/21, a week before Lucky’s.

I also found that preorders are still open, and the Prima SF4 book has frame data for all of the arcade characters.

That’s for round 1. Round 2 is the one that’s the same day as Lucky’s.

Whoa whoa…WHAT? This was actually posted?..

:coffee:

Huh?..

Whose footprints are these?

have you considered what system your friends that you want to play with will own?

cause im pretty sure that the networks wont play together…

Good to see Playmore making sure the new HSDMs live up to the stupidity of the original 2002 HSDMs.

Game is going to be a ton of fun, though. Just really broken.
