Mr. Layton - What made Valkenhayn better is the fact that he is able to react to more things via some of his normals getting buffed. My personal favorite has to be the recovery time reduction on his 2B. Of course, this move was BEST used against the Squirrel… but that won’t be a problem come extend. Also, him being able to special cancel his sweep (3c) into moves has increased his overall damage. Most popular seems to be 3C, 236A, 2C, 6C. Now I am unsure if they’ve made the tackle plus or not.
If they did, then may god have mercy those poor, innocent souls.
As for Carl, since I have yet to see any footage of him, I cannot make a real assessment. However, I am in agreement with Zoogstin. Carl always manages to find his way back up there. Some how. Damn it…
You can’t make Carl bad. He’s got a fucking doll that’s separate from him that hits you. He is shit-proof.
AH3…is too dumbed down from the previous versions for me to really get interested in. The free homing mechanic causes matches to be really, really fucking similar regardless of the characters played. If you never got into the previous games, then give it a go, but speaking as a top level (as in I placed in majors and beat top players in money matches, and was considered to be the best player of my character in the country) AHF player, this game puts me to sleep.
Definitely needs to be more Hazama players. It’s like that character’s meter gain just grows with every new version that comes out. That and I am extremely feeling how he can 214D~B in his combos due to the new corner bound feature they gave to it. Alas, I cannot betray the wolf. Put too much time into that character to turn back, now.
haha yeah i noticed that as well. after you left a BUNCH of sessions started happening in greensboro, but everybody here only plays MVC3/SF4 anyways lol.
Free homing doesn’t make the game dumbed down, it simply created a more aerial-based neutral game that requires an entirely different mindset from AHF. Generally when I’m playing AH3, I don’t waste time by using my free homing arbitrarily, but I actually use meter to set up Sound Orbs to give me an advantage at neutral, or create unblockables, or tighten my block strings, etc. So I kinda feel that your opinion is biased toward AHF, because you never took advantage of any of these tools, nor did you bother to figure out how meter management is done in AH3 (and I know this as I’ve already played you in this game).
Yeah I kinda agree there, I undoubtedly liked full a hell of a lot more than I like AH3, but it’s still more fun than BB to me. I’m 100% sure that’s because I haven’t found a character I like enough / put enough time into BB though. I would try to squeeze some motivation out but if extend is just around the corner then I might as well wait.
Lot of AH3 is just homing around at each other and air fighting it feels like. If you like the freedom of movement, it’s enjoyable though. Just feels like there’s less focus on the ground game which makes it seem sort of similar for a lot of characters since they’re all just flying at each other pressing their best jumping move lol
AIR FOOTSIES YO
Not saying I have a problem with AH3, I’ve had a lot of fun against Rob and getting to play with old friends that seemingly vanished into the anime nether, so it’s definitely worth a shot.
It’s just around the corner if you calculate in the time vortex that is UMVC3 that’ll pop up here in a month lol. The hell if I’ma practice BB when I could be setting bitches on fire with firebrand and what not.
It’s wierd; How did I manage to top 8 at a major then? Strange. Of course, it must be easy, since other NC players have also easily…oh, wait.
I get the feeling that if your character didn’t rape mine for fucking free (like SF4 Gief/Sagat free), this post wouldn’t even exist.
Jon: It was forever after Japan got CS2 that we got it; None of the characters are changing so much that you won’t benefit by picking one up now. That way you’re only tweaking a character instead of full blown learning one, while we’re already ahead.
lol nah, you guys said Hazama is good? Did bang get any changes? What about Hakumen? I’m not really sure where to find the info so I figure I’ll just ask.
You mean to say, oh wait… I’m pretty sure Alice Chan placed higher at CEO than you did at Final Round (a time when AH3 was out for one whole month, and everyone was still using outdated AHF technology)…
Also, Scharl vs Kira is no where near as bad as you claim. I even gave you hints on what was going wrong with our matches to give you an idea of what to do against Scharl. If you aren’t willing to put the time in learning the game, there’s no way to know whether a matchup is truly bad or not.
I feel like my hakumen is getting better every day which is cool. Matt still stomps me but I expected that.
Jon, Hazama looks good in bbsex and bang is also looking good, they seem to have given him back his CS1 5B. I think you should stick with Bang since you have his fundamentals down and his shits still good. Relius will probably be heavily played at first. He has some good pressure day4. I don’t really think you can go wrong with playing anybody in this game, barring Tagar. Poor nerfed spark plug bounce range, only goes like a quarter of the screen now… still a pretty good burst bait move though. And like matt said, the combo tweaks are pretty minor and will only take a few minutes in practice mode to get used to.
I’m practicing marvel3 as well. Nemesis / Hulk/ Sent aka team overhead me for free please. lol
Yeah, I just never could recover from the loss of my beautiful wall bounce combos with Bang. I should put some time into him though, I’m sure he’s got other decent combos. Why the hell would they nerf Tagar? That doesn’t make sense lol
And yes, indeed, I will instant overhead / zone the shit out of that team. >_<
RESE people, I talked to Raccoon (the guy that got second in Marvel at EZ) and he’s probably bringing up a few ATL players with him for the tourney. Bring you A games!
I’ll probably be in Greensboro this friday. I’m not opposed to making 3S at lost arc an evening? If anybody from SRK specifically want to play Blazblue or Third Strike in particular just tell me. Other than that, I’ve been handling IRL business this past month. Looks like I’m getting a house, we’ll be having some gatherings for sure.
Still no carpool discussion for ReSe? 4 Y? But seriousry, I want to go, I have prenty of gras montey. And I am cool to ride with (no sleeping and I can keep you awake)
The spark bolt nerf is hardly anything when talking about Tager. A lot of other things got buffed to the point where that character is actually worth looking at. Not to mention some of the tager combos ( Yes, tager COMBOS ) are notable. They nerfed the repeat proration on Actomic Collider as well. for… Obvious reasons.
Anyone that says Tager was overall nerfed is well… stupid.
As far as Hakumen goes, they’ve also done a bit to up his overall net damage. The biggest change to him would be that they gave him what would resemble the closes thing to his CT 6A. Slight head invulnerability attribute with a corner bounding feature. It’s become a staple towards his corner BnBs. Infact… I’ve yet to see him do underneath 4k.
The return of Bang’s 5B won’t be as good as others think. His match ups won’t change at all and that, just like in every other version he has been in, will be a hinderence. The characters you are losing to now are going to be the same ones you lose to in extend. That is just my opinion, however.
