North Carolina Players LXII

I stay in Havelock, Nc and wanted to know is there an street fighter scene here or am I going to have to drive and find one?

A video was posted on the SRK home page showing the difference between supers that were mashed and unmashed. Mashing is very worth it, the damage and hits make a good amount of difference. Even if it just added 100 more damage it’d be worth it, every bit counts.

Free food and tekken saturdays ;D ggs y’all. Give it some time, and hopefully we can bring up two other A-class players. Keep practicin.

All skill levels accomodated at Doc Massacre’s island

It has to make sure that people support it though so it doesn’t die like the other ventures the RDU area has had. Of course I guess at the same time the venue has to support US too to really get it going in the first place.

Gvegas Beatdown is just 2 weeks away, some of the best from SC, GA and NC will be there. Last event broke 100 people with some great payouts in our HUGE VENUE!!! The event will be streamed and there will be a discount for preregistering so make sure you do.

How far are you from Fayetteville or Raleigh? I think those will be the closest to you.

Man I looked it up from Charlotte and it’s like 5 and a half hours 0_o

Looks like your best bet might be… wilmington but at the same time it’s hard to say because the distances look roughly the same. Wilimgton or Greenville looks like they are definitely closest.

Why you always pick Zangief against me online? I hardly ever lose to Giefs, play your Ryu against me the next time we play man.

Well from the look of the responses I recieved from yall, it looks like I will be driving. Lol, question though, which one should I go to cause I really want to work on my Akuma. Greenville or Wilimgton. Thanks

I love this idea and think that if you play MK or were wanting to pick up MK that you should come out. I am going to work with Mark on this so we can get something figured out.

This will count towards RanBat points. It will be 10pts just for showing up and of course the normal payout of points depending on where you place.

We will work out all the details for you guys and let you know where it will be. Maybe we can get some ATL and some VA guys to come to this too.

Does anyone in the Greensboro/ RDU area have an internet connection that has a good upload speed and would be willing to have a cook out every couple of months?

The beat em up has been an interesting road. I started with a class project, “Fists of Legendary Heroes” that I kept working on after class. It was a semi random crossover with the group each picking a character and that being the cast. Graphics wound up clashing due to this but when you’re trying to get a grade it was understandable, especially since some of the group didn’t pull their weight. Kept tweaking and making revisions that get uploaded over time:

Fists of Legendary Heroes Requires account to download but that’s free.

Elsewhere on the internet I engage in other discussions and happened to know that a few independent comic book creators who occasionally shared convention booths and did a few crossover poster images. I presented the idea to them to go all the way with a full crossover offering my role in actually doing a game. Been a bit back and forth, (one artist had to teach himself how to do sprite art from scratch, disagreements on gameplay, the sheer fact that I was the only actual gamer in the group) but an issue #0 comic is out and hoping to close out some stuff soon with the game itself. Had to make some concessions (two characters have to be assists as opposed to full characters, less enemy variety than I’d like, etc) but considering just how homebrew it is, how few are involved, the low funds, and the fact that my computer sucks it’s been decent overall.

Overall, I found Grandia II rather easy but it was fun. Plus, it felt like it was easy because I managed to figure out the ins and outs of the system as opposed to randomization or grinding. The two times I specifically remember being a challenge was the Eye of Valmar and the lack of a map. The funny thing is to my understanding, I actually played “wrong” as far as character usage. Still, quite a different experience from Skies of Arcadia (my main RPG point of reference since I don’t own any form of Playstation).

Did someone mention Dolphin Blue? Ride dolphins and shoot people ALL DAY. Pity it never got a home port.

I have a good upload speed, and my room is right next to the cookout patio for the school.

Edit my upload varies between 4 and 11 Mbps… college campus.
