North Carolina Players LXII

Joke or not I’m hype for joe. I think he’s gonna be really good in UMVC3.

Four Season’s mall has a full blown h2h cab of KoFXI

:wtf: I just saw this. WTF Javier…wtf.

P.S. When are you coming out to EZ and getting some of that “free” money?

XI? I thought it was just 98 last time I checked, though that was about a month ago-Tilt right?

It’s XI. I think it’s actually a new arcade on the second level because iirc it wasn’t named tilt, nothing at the mall period looks especially worthwhile other than Greensboro’s finest selection of ghetto dimes.I was there yesterday for a bit as well.

edit: bonus rant

A little disappointed with our generation of gamers in general. I feel this way because every single person I fought at the mall and lost arc didn’t ask a single question when they lost, didn’t even try to get a rematch, no fire at all, no real desire to understand the game on even a superficial level. It was much easier for them to just pretend I was too good or the game was too unfair (High tier low lov pressure). As my pal would say ‘hoo boy’. I know scrubs and people outside the FG community are in general like this when they play someone ‘good’ in SF but you had to have some kind of passion just to play any game decently at an arcade in the day.

Fighting gamers weren’t some different crowd or scene at first, fighting games were just more games. People got good at them because they took their time and gave a shit, these were probably the same people running pacman game after pacman game just to put their three initials in so other people knew what time it was, but now people lose and just run off, not even the slightest bit of resistance, what happened.

Yeah Four Seasons moved the arcade and did a complete overhaul on it. I think theres a couple of Vs. games like MvC1 or 2 or something. Can’t remember. But I definitely know that there is a XI cab. It was pretty sweet looking.

When I was visiting Gboro, I beat the guy who won the ST tournament around 4-5 times straight before leaving. He was asking a few questions about how to do Ken’s combos. But overall he was just praising (and ranting) of how I was parrying obvious stuff.

I think it just sucks that this happens to be located in Greensboro.

Yo just finished watching the MvC3 Good vs Evil stream. That junk was too hype!!! OMG!!!

Team good had 5 high level players (Justin, Marlin, Noel, Combofiend, PR Rog ) and team evil had high level Pheonix Players (Flocker, F. Champ, Tokido, Viscant, Detrimantix).

That junk was ridiculously hype for whatever reason.

Lol at both of the people beating me at FR being on the Good vs Evil 5v5 (Combofiend and Flocker).

PR Rog was on the Good side, F.Champ and Detrimantix were the other Evil players.

Yeah I just came back to this thread to change that.

so…somebody explain to me how to play BB…like seriously how? How do you deal with pressure in this game? B/c if the answer is IB everything then I don’t understand how you play this online.
Anyway, I was at work when we were playing Blake so that’s why there were pauses. Also, how do you get out of that Dead Spike>5B(?) string? Obviously doing something that isn’t invincible other than blocking will get you counterhit. It felt like I couldn’t get close to you unless you actually let me or I hit you with a chain. Coupled with times where my houtenjin wouldn’t come out…

Good shit to Nick for Qualifying for SF4AE.

NC actually doing something in a current game at a major? WHAT?

Flocker is a monster. Such a lame (good lame) Zero.

Oh now I can log in. Good stuff at tourney. I tried to invade charlotte’s BB scene but my poor hakumen just wasn’t ready yet lol

NC has always randomly done good at majors for SF4. Brent and OJ come to mind lol.

Sorry how the brackets were messed up a tad Robocurse. That is partially my fault. Other than that, there was another small mix up in the beginning. Though it was fixable.

Your Hakumen is actually very solid. The only thing I would think you’d need to work on is your hit confirms. There were several times when you had high damage at your grasps, but you let your opponent up instead. I can’t wait to see what you’re doing the next tournament.

As for myself… Although I made my mistakes against tagers in both winners finals AND grand finals, I am just happy that I was finally able to calm down and play progressively lame. I’m usually much too impatient to fight that character and usually end up taking the dick.

RESE was a lot of fun. Congrats to Corner Trap for taking 1st place in 3SOE. Atlanta MVC3 MM were hype as hell. Very nice tournament, a little trouble with the power going out,but still great. I’ll try to make it to another one soon. TGI Fridays was GDLK!! Dat Blue Moon seasonal + Baby Back ribs FTW!!

I also had fun at the tourney yesterday and it was nice meeting you, Dale. You got a lot of good hit confirms during your matches, but just didn’t convert them to big damage. Once you get your combos down, you’re going to be pretty solid with Hakumen.

Dead Spike is +3 on block, if you IB that makes it neutral. IB window is still pretty large, I was able to IB somewhat reliably even though we were online. But yeah, if you block DS, attacking back isn’t the best idea. Especially if I do it meaty on your wakeup, that gives me much more frame advantage.

As far as playing Hazama, you actually did a pretty good job of zoning me, but I would say that you need to just be lamer and wait for a real opportunity to get in. Getting inside off of a blocked chain is distance dependent. The further away you are, the more blockstun the chain has, but you have to choose different attacks at that range, otherwise your opponent leaves blockstun and can interrupt. The one thing that always got me tagged when I fought Zidane is when he would choose to come in on a max range blocked chain and then j.B from way far out. No chance to interrupt, otherwise I would probably get counterhit. You were always trying to come in with j.A, which is good if you’re a little closer, but from that distance, by the time you get to me, I can interrupt with 5A. I also like to IB chains, it’s pretty much a requirement when fighting Hazama. That limits your options slightly. Also maybe mix up your entry options instead of always doing D~D, doing D~B throws off timing and lets you do some other funny stuff.

Also, once you actually got in on me, there was almost no mixup most of the time. You really didn’t vary your strings and it wasn’t until the end of the set where you started to really throw in command grabs. Once Hazama gets in, you have a variety of options as far as strings and mixups. You can do JCable stuff into IAD crossups, Zaneiga for a fairly safe low that leads to huge damage, more pressure with Ressenga since it still gives plus frames on hit, etc etc. More 6A/6B mixes when you have meter, both of those moves are silly. And yeah, don’t drop Jayoku opportunities, it’s online so I know you mess up every once in a while, but that’s huge for Hazama. If you have meter, you should get a good 4k~5k at the very least off of any hit.

WOW! UMVC3 Heroes vs Heralds mode looks dope!!! Card System looks interesting and fresh. This is the game I wanted to pay for the first time Capcom??? WOAH!!!
