Friday’s good for me.
Can’t do it, got two essays due next week.
It’s bad for me this week. Maybe June 7th or June 21st.
I can’t go either. I’m still mourning the Warriors lost in the 2nd round of playoffs.
it’s only me , geo & ultracombo and i can’t get a confirmation from ultracombo.
guess we’ll reschedule for another time.
and i was being hypocritical about the turbo speed -_-
geo wants to play regardless.
we’ll be there by 7pm.
join us if any of you want to get some games in.
\o/
Ill try make it around 11 hopefully its still poppin
yo where u at moses! we were still popping till 1am.
ggs everyone. 144 games today
Srry folks got off little later than expected
Then next weekend? Let’s try to get the Wolfe Bros and Miz to come out and have a ratio tourney. Turbo 2 only. We should go by the tourney standard. If not let’s try the 21st. Either way we only have 5 weekends before Evo.
Also the Fantasy Strike Expo is next weekend, but it’s awfully expensive to register ($65). I’d enter if I knew a lot of people would be there and there’d be a big pot. What do you guys think?
if you are thinking about making money from entering, then don’t.
if you just want to have fun and can afford it then go for it.
they downsize to another venue from one hotel to another, people were saying that they didn’t get as many entrants as they expected was the reason.
if there are 10 entrants, 6:3:1 split (my guess) you’d break even. but sirlin and thelo ain’t push over and it’s hdr so you can’t play o sagat.
The entry fee is so damn high it’s not worth even going to. Assuming it’s at LEAST a 6-man tournament, if you’d win (which is harder since it’s HDR, no o.sagat), you’d still lost $5, lol.
$65 is a whole lot of dough for a single tournament. Evo ST Games probably won’t be that expensive, and that’s FOUR tournaments. Just out of principle alone, I wouldn’t pay to join that tourney.
Actually it’s a very good topic to discuss, not just on this norcal thread.
I think tournament nowadays should not have a single flat venue fee.
Justin Wong / Chris G is gonna get their money’s worth since they’re playing 7 out of 9 games, but for those that are only interested in one game, the EVO registration fee is just too expensive.
I recall during 2010/2011 when we were running st as a side games, whether the player has to pay high venue fee is a big deterrent to casual players entering the tournament.
(which is harder since it’s HDR, no o.sagat)
HDR… -_-
Papasi, while variable venue fee would be nice, in practice it’s too hard to monitor. After a person is done with his/her tourney, what’s to keep them from staying around, spectating, playing casuals in other games, i.e. consuming all the same resources as someone who has entered all the tournament would be consuming.
So I asked Alex Wolfe about this Friday and he said he couldn’t make it because he was going to be out of town. However he said he’d be down for this coming Friday, as well as bringing a few friends, so that seems like a good time to meet up again.
well wouldn’t spectator consume the same amount of resources?
use evo as an example,
instead of a flat fee of $70 for competitor and $20 for spectator,
i’d suggest
$20 for everyone that is attending
$10 entry fee per game and $10 administrative fee for every additional game with a max of $50 (five games or above).
$20 - spectator
$20 + $10 + $10 (entry) = $40 for people entering one game
$20 + $20 + $20 (entry) = $60 for people entering two games
etc
adjust the administrative fee per game if $10 is too low that you’d lose money but the general idea applies.
but then as prestigious as EVO, they probably can get away with that.
for a smaller local tournament like Fantasy Strike Expo as you can see, people can’t justify play $55 registration fee to compete in a single game.
If you’re interested, there’s going to be a 32-man Hyper Fighting tourney at California Extreme:
If you like arcades or pinballs you need to go to this show at least once.
It’s located in Santa Clara, which appears to be like a 15-20 min. drive away from where Sunnyvale. Seems close.

HDR Sagat is ok and Ryu has the fake fb of doom. I’ve played Sirlin in HDR before. Ryu does the work. Still I’m not going, you guys are right, $65 is way too much.

Evo weekend lol
You guys should pool up money for ultra to go, just so an “outsider” (not Sirlin/Thelo) wins it.
I don’t think there will be any players of note there besides those two.
Holy crap, totally forgot that Evo was happening that weekend. Well, if some of you aren’t going to Evo, this is certainly an easier trip to get your SF2 fix.
In order for ultra to make any decent money off this, he’ll need at LEAST 12 players to show up.
