So I am going to be going to UCSF in September. I wanted to see whats up with all the HDR players in the NorCal region. I probably won’t have be playing too much because I won’t have too much time, but I will prob try and make more Norcal Tournaments. I am sure Mongolorobokop will be up there more as well too visiting so you guys will have two new Socal Players in the area.
Congrats on making it into UCSF! That’s a tough school to get into. What department? I know Vestax will be super local to you. I am across the golden gate bridge. Congrats again on UCSF again. Exciting times ahead!
I am in the school of dentistry. It is going be really fun living up there for four years.
Oh…you’re one of those people. Just kidding! That’s great to hear. You’ll be sticking your tool into people’s mouths in no time!
Hey BTC. DG, Vintage, Cesar came up the last 2 major norcal events, so make that 4 socal players lol! Yeah man, definitely hit me up, we have a nice close knit SF community up here, especially for HDR players. One of our major contributors is Thrust07 who often runs brackets and judges in our events. We’re trying to maintain a session every month and keep everyone posted in the Pac North section of the forum: http://www.shoryuken.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23 It’ll definitely be an honor to have another good Blanka around. We only have a few that really mains him like Reign and Eltwopee.
Yes, this is excellent news! When Mongolo and DGV were up here recently, I had told Mongolo that I’d never beaten BlueTallCans… ever. His reply was that “you have to live with him”. I guess this is the next best thing.
I’d like to give you a hearty welcome to our local scene and look forward to playing you in the future.
Thanks Fudd, I was actually supposed to be at Fuddruckers, but I didn’t wake up when they called me in the morning. It was like 5:45! They really want me to play against Choi, which I think would be a good match since all my practice has been with Valle and DGV I have yet to play Choi in a tournament or even casuals for that matter. I can’t wait to be in SF in a couple months! I am down to play with all you guys
Traitor
Looking forward to facing u offline bro.
LMAO
BTC, I can’t wait to fight you at EVO. I don’t think there’s a fight im looking forward too more than that.
Just make sure its recorded please thanks.
Antonio, congrats on getting into UCSF, bro. You better still show up to the SoCal tournaments, though, lol.
BlueMary- Damn dude its going to be crazy not being able to play ST with someone who lives right around the corner basically and is good at the game. We learned from playing together back in the AE days, thanks to Afro, DGV, ZazzaMan, and all the other old school players.
Battosai- I agree , fighting in person will be way better I can’t stand the GGPO connection for some reason.
Jiggly- I am still unsure about EVO this year, I have alot coming up in these next few months I have to take care of, but usually BlueMary gets me to go at the last minute so maybe that will happen this year again.
Afro - Thanks dude. UCSF will definitely make me a good dentist, but its gonna kill any skills that I have at ST/HDR, but oh well man it was gonna be almost impossible to ever get first place at a tournament playing Blanka. It was just fun trying to show he can be good (sometimes at least). I’ll come down to the So Cal tournaments, I think I would still play for SoCal over NorCal (where I started), but if I come down for SoCal tournaments you gotta come up with DGV or Alex for those few solid NorCal tournaments they have.

Hey Vestax or anyone who is familiar with the city of SF, how safe is the sunset district to live in?
Ha ha. Vestax lives in the Sunset. He’ll have a good answer.
I would say it’s like fairly safe… or safer than a lot of places in the city but can get quite expensive here. I actually work at a hospital near UCSF, anywhere from there to the sunset district is good, as well as neighboring cities south of SF on the pacific ocean side. No offense to anyone here lol but parkside sunset is mostly asians, and they are mostly chill and reserved. It’s when you get to areas near downtown or inner bay areas, then it’s pretty bad. Sunset sits near the coast, so it gets more overcast and fog than the rest of the city. Another thing with living here is that parking’s a luxury. If you plan to drive, it’s a PITA just to park.
I just started living here 2 years ago with my wife. I was born in socal, and raised in San Jose most of my life. San Francisco’s fast paced busy lifestyle can get pretty crazy, a night and day difference if you’re used to the burbs and quiet residential areas.
So I don’t live in SF or the Sunset but I did spend a lot of time there for a small period of my life. Sunset is pretty safe. I used to go out there to eat quite often and hang out at Ocean Beach. I also agree about the Fog. I’ll be sunny and nice everywhere else but the fog and overcast in the sunset will make you think it’s winter in July. Also the busyness of the Sunset depends on where you live. Parts of the sunset are nested deep in residential territory and are pretty quiet. Other areas are closer to 19th avenue or a major shopping street and are therefore nosier. Worst case scenario you and Vestax and use a buddy system and Headbutt/Blanka Ball any trouble makers.
Thanks for the reply guys, I hope to get housing in the Sunset district closer to school or else my other option is the Mission district for student housing. I guess its a 20 min shuttle ride from the Mission district to UCSF. I am already getting tired of doing that everyday if I don’t get into the Sunset district
Hey guys I move into my place in San Francisco yesterday I am right next to UCSF. I would like to meet up some time with any HDR players in the area since my internet sucks and can’t play online and I have a month to kill before school starts.
