The reason MGL is whack is because they try to own on any little thing they can: the annoying announcements, turning the game off when people are trying to practice(especially when people travel far to play), and above all, they kick people out for dumb ass reasons. Why doesn’t Sunnyvale kick people out? Because the
best players play there. Just look at the poeple who won.

I do understand the practice part; but getting the sticks to work and testing them out is a must.

and for the most part how much more practice do you need right before the tourney? most people play everyday at golflands and home.

First off… Thanks for having all of us from FFA play at MGL.
Second, the tournement was pretty well organized. A few times it came to a stop where neither cabinet was being used, but for the most part, it started at a decent time and ended decently early.
Hope to see more MGL ppl coming down to FFA tournements. Spread the 3s competition.

I don’t mean to cause any other commotion, but let me get to a few points:

  1. MGL and SVGL have very diffiernt businesses. Other than being under the name golfland, the amount of traffic and the demographics of people coming to both golflands are very much different. Therefore, the way the business works is going to be different. Keep in mind, that even though this is a tournament for the players, we ARE at golfland, and for them, it’s a business. They need to maximize profits while satisfying their customers. Just for us to be able to do the tournaments at MGL is already something we should be thankful for, especially since I can guarantee you that arcade fighting games don’t make very much money in comparison to the other kinds of entertainment that they have provided at MGL.

  2. The demographic target consumer for Golfland isn’t the arcade gamers. If you notice, most of them are families or teen groups, not us. Because of that, we’re going to have a different set of rules, especially when MGL draws a huge amount of traffic in that area compared to SVGL. You guys know why someone gets kicked out, and if you’re going to say that MGL is wrong, that really means you don’t reconsider all the other people that are also at golfland. Like I said, we’re not the only people who are there, we need to reconsider everyone else, so don’t feel like golfland is kicking someone out cuz of something stupid, it’s because they have a responsibility to protect and satisfy their other customers. End of argument there.

  3. I’m not going to discredit any complaints, because what you guys say is whack to some degree. Yeah, I don’t like the fact that they have to turn off the machines for that long to do sign ups. If anything, they should turn it off for a set period of time, like maybe 15 - 30 minutes for sign-ups and then turn it back on for you guys to play. That’s just my point of view though, but even so, we are looking and reconsidering everything to provide better tournaments each time we have one. For you guys to say, “MGL is fucking whack” you know… that’s just not coo. If you really have something to say, please give us some constructive criticism and let us know what’s up so that we can fix it and make it better for you guys. Don’t just say they suck, cuz it gets nothing done and that just starts trouble. At the very least let us know what’s dumb.

  4. I hope everyone had a great time at this tournament. As much as I had fun, I know there were a couple of things were a discouragement to the players and I apologize for that inconvenience. Like I said earlier, constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated. We do our best to make it as fun as possible, and with the help of the players letting us know what’s up, we can make it better each time we have another tournament.

  5. For you guys who were talking smack: Think about what i’ve said, and if I was wrong, let me know. But reconsider everything that I’ve just posted on here. I don’t mean to offend anybody in particular, but without giving any reason behind your complaints, it just accomplishes nothing for everybody, so if you have nothing nice or helpful to say, please just don’t post it. Thank you.

yea the tourney stopped a few times because certain players were playing other games. ONe player who was playing MVC2 CVS2, and 3s, he was passed around everywhere, he held up a big portion of the 3s bracket.
