Noob to EVO

Hey!
I have been into fighting games casually for a good portion of my life but lately I want to get more into SF4 as seriously as I can. Although I have not really touched 4 yet really (50 hours so far of me sucking with gouken on pc) I have a good amount of super turbo experience. I am going into graduate school with a good amount of time being taken up writing my thesis however the strict time demands of when I have to do something is very low (mostly independent studies, no classes that there is an actual lecture except for one this semester). My goal is to find a local scene if possible (people near troy/albany in NY hit me up  ) and practice as often as I can and go to EVO this summer feeling I belong there and to progress as much as I possibly can hopefully taking several games. (obviously hopes for winning is non-existent).

The point of this thread is too see if my goals are too extreme or not extreme enough, and see if anyone around my area is also into sf4 (or if any other noobs wanna practice online my steam name is Omegacon.)

On another note across fighting games I have had always bad execution on being P1, especially the rekka motion (fireballs and dp’s to but they only feel sluggish but they come out fine) I always hated the asymmetry of my execution when holding a stick. I was wondering if switching to the hitbox would be worth it since there is no real asymmetry I see in pressing a button for motion and both sides should feel the same. Does the hitbox translate well to most fighting games?

I don’t see any issue with you looking to go to Evo.

Whatever your skill set is going into Evo…it’s still a fun experience to be had.

Check here to look for any local gatherings…you can check Facebook as well.

Definitely go to evo even if you are new. You will love it. And, it’s Vegas =D

Word thanks for the advice! also i clicked that link and my area was the first post, pretty excited to go there and learn. Practicing on pc today my qanba q1’s buttons are starting to stick and kinda wear out. I did my research on the help thread here and other places and i am leaning towards getting the hitbox over the fusion, but i am a little afraid since my execution would suck if i borrowed anyone elses stick etc… also im worried about it in other games that might come out like mkX or yatagarasou aotc… not sure if it will hold up aswell as in sf4
