hey guys. i’m basically brand-spankin’ new to fighting games, picked up 3s maybe a week or two ago, bedazzled by parries (hence my username) and enticed by the idea of mind-games at higher-level play. it seems like it’s gonna take me forever (ballpark estimate of atleast 1 year) for me to get to the level where i’d bother trying to play others on ggpo, but i’ll keep picking up my gamepad, watching matches on youtube, and reading gamefaq guides (off topic, but any other sources for me to learn faster other than the eventhubs site and the super-long 3s New Player FAQ thread?)
anyways, playing against the cpu, i noticed that it pulls off a push block on me ever so often. i’ve already searched this 3s forum and google, and i don’t know which other shoryuken forums i should search in (assuming that the push block was introduced in an earlier sf). i hope i didn’t fail at using the search function:confused:
so my question is: how do you perform the push block and what are its uses (i’m assuming it’s just a block with the added benefit of creating distance)?
Sounds like a throw tech/grapple. If I’m right, then what’s happening is that both you and your opponent attempted to throw each other at about the same time. Who gets pushed back and how far they get pushed back is determined by who attempted first and how late the other person attempted.
Throws are performed by pressing LP + LK (just in case you didn’t know).
hmm interesting. i had no idea it could be grapple related because the animation when the cpu does it looks like it’s doing a block which pushes me back and makes a distinctive sound when i connect. i think it’s happened a few times in the air and i don’t remember ever doing it myself.
This says it all and 100 percent agree. Speaking of which, I recently got a new joystick and have been playing Anniversary edition 3S on Xbox live but NO ONE PLAYS! So i was thinking to go on GGPO myself but can anyone direct me on what to do to play? It sounds like a dream to me, because there seems to be no other way to play 3S with other players.
I believe there is no “rom talk” allowed but here is me not talking about roms. This website has good instructions on setting up ggpo. Its the best place for 3s online and you’ll always find plenty of SRK-ers there too.
@OP - The character specific threads are where you should look for in depth information that is somewhat easier to look through.
