So I haven’t posted in this section of SRK in sometime now. I’ve been pretty busy these last couple of months but now have some spare time for myself to draw. I figured it was about time I started working on some new stuff. Here are a few things I’ve been done recently. All these were done with a wacom tablet using either Sai or Photoshop. Enjoy and critiques are welcomed. I also have a deviantart account here: http://jaimedl.deviantart.com/ but I haven’t updated it in sometime with some older stuff.
Not sure how many images can be linked per post. I’ll keep them to 4 per post max for now. This was an idea I had for a piece. I’ll probably work on this one once I finish up the other pieces I’m working on. I did this one in PS with some brushes I was trying out. Nothing super fancy just a rough idea I had.
This was my failed attempt at drawing chibi anime style. This was all done in Sai. I’m not sure if I’ll finish this one. I’ll just leave it as is since I’m not really happy with it.
This is what I’m working on atm. Decided to do a Garou MOTW piece. I was trying to do another chibi look here but more my style I suppose. I’ve actually been on and off on this piece for some time now. I got pretty lazy on it but decided to finally finish working on it today. The rough layout and inks all done in Sai. I’m doing all the coloring in PS this time.
i agree with diavle. the work itself looks amazing, it just needs a bit of tweaking. to keep that chibi feel, i think tizoc’s head needs to be a bit bigger as well.
keep up the great work!
Diavle: Yes I see what you mean about the neck thing. I’m just not the type to draw chibi’s in general. I should have done more research by looking at examples. I was trying to just do it based off what I could remember in general about them. Lesson learned.
Thanks for all the comments and feedback. I’ll be posting a lot more stuff as I finish them.
I actually like your style reminds me more of Bobble Heads than Chibi. Flaws are good sometimes; gives your art a style all on its own by not following standards.
It’s a drawing program similar to PS but uses less resources and easier to load. It has features like being able to flip layers on the fly and lets you rotate layers as well on the fly. I also like the pen tool in Sai for inking. It feels more natural when inking to me. I also love the fact that it lets you open .psd files from PS as well or save things you work on as .psd files. There is more info about it here:
It’s just another program/tool really. Whatever floats your boat. I have all the programs anyways. I should probably mess with painter more. I want to do more digital painting in general.
