The Jim Crow laws are in stark contrast to my argument of freedom of choice for businesses. I dont really see how you would make that point if you knew what the JimCrow laws actually were (forcing businesses to act according to state-sanctioned ‘morals’). Individuals being allowed to make busincess choices (whether stupid or otherwise) is worlds apart from having the govt mandate those choices.

Places of business have a different standard when it comes to discrimination compared to the individual. That’s why businesses can’t just fire people because of their demographic.
Having access to goods and services is a major concern. Being able to participate in businesses will impact where people are allowed to live, especially in smaller communities where people depend on locally owned businesses. It has the capacity to create segregated communities where certain demographics aren’t welcome.
And all of this should be an even bigger concern to minority groups that can’t hide their minority status as well as gays might. The precedent that is being set with homosexuals can very easily be applied to other minority demographics as well.

Yes you have to right to refuse service, but you have to refuse on the following grounds,
The individual is rude or unruly, the individual is creating a disturbance, is a possible threat to public health/sanitation or is a physical threat to people or property.
“No shirt, no shoes, no service” is based on sanitation.

Wrong. Federal law does not cover sexual orientation or preference. It just covers race, religion, color and national origin. There is also a federal act for disabilities, so those are covered too.
Sex and sexual orientation are not covered federally. Additionally as I’ve alluded to earlier it has to be if the business holds itself out to the public. The official term is “public accommodations.” That means you can run your own business where you pick your own clients and make it clear there are no walk-ins or service to the general public.
The age thing is particularly foolish considering otherwise little kids can walk into strip clubs legally. Strip clubs are also pretty close to being public.
States can add on further protections. I have no idea which states cover sexual orientation, but I bet you California does. I seriously doubt all of them do however or even most.
In practice, everything is best handled with public boycotting and pressure. I personally wouldn’t patronize an establishment that discriminates, and I’d prefer those business owners go out of business rather than have their hate filled attitudes towards everyone begrudgingly.
