lmao you defended DmC for months and you did it for free because a mediocre game succeeding purely on the size of its marketing budget proves the haters wrong
Some trolls decided to do the one thing we’ve been clear people should not do and abused the spam flag instead of PMing a mod, @ing a mod, or pretty much anything else. If you mess around with flags, you’re probably going to be given a one-week timeout as has been discussed copiously and was specifically discussed with those people before. So that’s that half of the dumb equation which is boring to me and hopefully pretty stupid to anybody else. Let’s stop being stupid.
The other half of the equation is – yeah, I agree, Martian was posting like an idiot. I’m an admin and had been stepping for some moderation duties in GD, but this isn’t my land. I’d suggest if you have a concern with a user, @ a GD mod such as @Pertho . I’m fine with whatever action the GD mods want to take here: posting like that seems to be abusing software (copying and pasting IMG urls) to annoy somebody. But - let’s not hope mods are magical omniscient wizards. The Bot Spam flag doesn’t do a goddamned useful for anything but bots: stop (ab)using it and instead try to build actual communication channels with the mods that are here to help.
I’m not doing to say I knew this game was going to be a disappointment for a lot of people (because I didn’t), however, I will say that this is why you don’t preorder games. Unless you’re getting it from Steam with their refund policy, why take the risk?
Ah go on and say,“I told ya so”. I only ask that you bring back the Geese Howard on the throne av if you do. Unfortunately, it is an unpleasant lesson learned. As far as I can see, there is no return policy for PSN peeps, so we’re stuck holding this turd.

Finally scrape up 80 million credits so that I can get that ship…100MILLION CREDITS?!?!? WHAT DA FAAAAAKKKKKKKKKK!?!?!?!?!?!?
Really glad I passed on this game. Too many times have I been burnt by games that promise immersion and exploration, only for it to actually mean that they’re boring as fuck.
Exploration is only fun when it’s optional. What NMS should have included was an option to Terraform a planet. If they really wanted this game to be “played forever”, then they should have given incentive to do so. Spend however long combing through these quintillion planets to find your perfect one, then begin your actual adventure. Build a small home base in a jungle, by the beach or in the middle of an ocean. Have this be your center of the galaxy, and then branch out to find the resources to expand your base into a utopia. Because as it stands now, your only reason to explore is so you can continue exploring.
You should be able to import wildlife and plants from other planets, invite alien NPCs to live at your home, eventually be able to actually cultivate the entire planet. Have space stations out in orbit. Random pirate raids put everything in jeopardy. I wasn’t a fan of Fallout 4’s “Shelter” mechanic, but it’d be perfect in NMS
Actually, its procedurally generated based off a seed. If the seed is the same, the output is the same. So long each each planet has its own unique seed value, it would be possible to have the planet be exactly the same, which is cool and one of the actual awesome things about the engine.
The downside? Nothing you do can affect another person. If you go to a planet and clean it of resources, then the next person comes and gets the exact same seed to generate the planet, its not going to have any of the things you did to affect it. Maybe theres some way to change the seed to reflect what you did, but typically the way these systems work is by having the seed be input and the world be output ,but no way to go from the world back to a seed. If they could somehow work out the math to be able to do that, that would be pretty amazing, but yeah I doubt they’ve cracked that nut as it’s already been shown something one person does to a planet doesn’t affect another.
Real space stations with actual vendors where YOU can set up a shop and permanent base of operations, maybe even be a mechanic for ships and actually interact with other people on this vast multiplayer level. Real stars that can be used as resources as well, same with gas planets, fucking black holes that you can get rekted by OR use to fast travel to other parts of the universe/pocket dimensions/crazy shit.
Fuck give us a space dinner like Space dandy lol, space prisons, actual prisons on fucked up planets that you can get sent to for fucking up and bust out of. Shit you can go to jail in skyrim. Crazy space monsters, actual giant monsters that are specific to certain planets, like sarlac pits and godzilla motherfuckers. Space dolphins, space bikes, Lobo running around in space fucking your shit up. So many things they could have added that hopefully modders will in the future.
Man rivers and actual eco systems on planets and moons would be nice for a start, as well as being able to teleport back to your ship in emergency situations. I still want space man spiffs ship fuckers. I’d settle for the ship from The Explorers.
That touches on another problem of this game. It has no identity, no idea of what it wants to be.
The game has crazily proportioned animals and ridiculous looking NPCs, but doesn’t go all in with the lighthearted, comedic effect with space diners and Lobo-ripoffs. It shoots for this mystifying story with scattered lore stones and a mystery to find, but it’s too shallow and tedious to invoke any emotional response other than boredom.
It’s missing the grand set piece events of a serious Sci Fi fantasy adventure. It doesn’t have the satirical Futurama style comedy it could have nailed. It lacks the true freedom than an immersive Open World game should be offering.
A completely different kind of gameplay.
I am loving it so far, i have been playing it while being on a voice chat with other friends so we share what we are finding while playing.
I’m getting deja vu of last year. My full week of vacation happened to coincide with the release of a big game (last year TPP) and I proceeded to play for at least 50 or so hours. I enjoyed myself thoroughly but then discover niggas had gone mad, hating on the game left and right.
I was like “these motherfuckers are smoking that rock” and take a bit of time to shit on the people shitting on the game…and then get back to it.
At the moment, I’m still very much enjoying it. The glitch that I would actually bitch about (blueprints glitch) is no longer present so I can progress to better star classes. Seems like the kind of game I’ll continuously play over the next year considering I still play Phantom Pain.
All I have to say is: Wow. I don’t care for this game at all, but hearing across the internet how this dude lied led me to the review and the thread above. Is this true as far as SRK has seen? Did this dude really promise all of that and damn near none of that is in the game? How do you do that? HOW? In the short run, MAYBE you make off with some money. But once word of mouth spreads, how the hell does your next game get out of the shadows of all those broken hype dreams?
