Meeting people should be painless, man. I don’t know what makes you so insecure, but you should definitely not let it influence you. At the end of the day you’ll realize that MANY people are in the same boat as you. Personally, I would focus on obtaining a social life first that is not centered around gaming.
I think you can get a social life through gaming meetups/sessions/arcades. I became quite good friends with some people I met on SRK. We sometimes go to get drinks or watch a movie or play paintball, whatever. Most of my friends right now are people are met because of FGC. The friends I grew up with and went to school with or worked with I see so rarely now, everyone has their own life. But my FGC friends I see all the time because we have common interestes.
Yeah and I guess that’s what im kind of going for. Playing a fightet well help break the ice a lot more with people instead of just showing up to bars and finding someones interest. I’m glad I got a lot of positive feed back and it’s given me a great deal of confidence to just go and mix it up.
I use to have a lot of stuff going on before I moved away from my home town and started working. Living by yourself and finding out no one really wants to chill cause you’re so far away, and being 23 it’s hard to figure out how to start over again. Especially when you’re not in school anymore, but I see what you’re saying.
I’m the most introvertive and shy person in my everyday life, but at the arcades, I’m surprisingly one of the most vocal people there. You’d be amazed how easy it is to get to know someone once you’ve already established some common ground. You just show up and play, and people are already more willing to get to know you. It’s a pretty unique experience amongst offline gaming communities. You should definitely just go to your local sessions. What’s the worst that could happen?
I have friends, but none of them are interested in fighting games in anything more than the most casual way. So, I kind of know how you feel.
There is a Japanese-style arcade about 30-40 minutes from here with all the games I play (except Skullgirls), so at least there’s that.
It wasent soppose be an insult just something to keep in mind. Are you trying to get good for yourself and have fun. Or are you trying to get good and take the fun out of it, so you can show them up, and try and make them think dang he’s sick. If its the second one there’s a limit to how good you can get, I would explain why, but…
No no no, I want to get better not to show anyone up but to just get better. I’m not looking to be the next big star but to just be good and have fun running sets and being able to keep up. It’s fun to have someone to jog with whose consistently pushing you to better.
I use to play on the Xbox but then I switched to ps3 and sold my Xbox
There are plenty of places to play in Houston. If you aren’t taking advantage of them, you’re missing out.
I rented a car and drove 2 hours to get to wnf while in la for bussiness. I had a great time people are nice. You should be regretting everyone you miss they are a blast. Most likely one of the top 2 or 3 places in the country to level up quick.
There are a few, but none closer than 30-40 minutes away. I do go to Planet Zero, but not as often as I’d like.
Pretty far drive, but at least be glad that you have a local scene. 30-40 minutes is honestly not that bad, in light of the fact that a majority of people have nothing around them.
