I support Marvel not really a big capcom fan.
No BlazBlue at EVO. No big deal for me. Much rather have KOFXIII in its spot.
Yeah…when Taskmaster is the only Marvel character in your teams.
Capcom thanks you for your support.
With all due respect, You make some Valid points. But do you forget the entire world can’t just up sticks at converge on EVO? Thousands tune into the Streams all across the world to watch Blazblue, America, Japan, europe. (Im sure this goes for any game) And removing it entirely does seem unfair. Not just to this tiny SRK community.
Also, The whole “Support your scene make a difference” Thing can only apply to people that are able to make the event.
Fair points though, Respect.
- Also. Dat Incredible Comeback
What ever yalls opinion may be, Mk9 got almost twice as many entrants as BB did. BlazBlue is way too small and stagnant community to support, thats just the facts.
hahaaha!! oh snap!! it’s crazy up in this Piece!! Great comeback!!
not a good comeback. seriously.
Anyways the side tournaments will be bustling after the exclusion of this game at evo. so many ppl still play this game. i support it
I don’t really like this guy but he was spot on about what games were gonna be featured, like 2 weeks ago
if there are BB side tourneys…then we should go out and support…numbers are stronger then words sometimes
First off, this is not a troll/ flame bating post. I am just bringing the reality to light.
I guessed the lineup correctly after seeing the amount of entrants at SCR. It was inevitable that BB was not going to be at Evo this year. Hey, this is coming from someone who spent most of two straight years playing BB. Honestly, BB is done here in America. Why you ask? Blame the poverty scene. I’ve come across countless people always saying things like “oh, I’m not going to insert tournament or event here because I don’t have money” etc. I never hear this shit in scenes for UMvC3 or SFIV. So yeah, for the people that say they are hardcore BB players and won’t even take the time to go out to the largest BB tourney in the nation, you got no one to blame but yourselves.
P.S.: MB got more entrants the year before at Evo, a game that a good amount of BB players ridiculed and stuff. So a game, that was PC based for the longest time, that had a scene that was mostly on East Coast got more entrants in a tourney that they had to travel across the country for than BB.
-Tha Hindu
and yeah, the lineup was 84% predictable.
All 3 capcom games were gonna be in, Evo is a capcom-centered event.
There was going to be a Namco event (there always is), and T6 is aging poorly, so SC5 was the obvious choice.
MK is recognizable to a ton of potential vewiers and always gets good attendance, so it was pretty much a gimme.
I gotta admit I thought it would be BB vs Skullgirls for the last slot though, never even occurred to me that KOF would get nod.
I am also disappointed with the decision to axe Blazblue from the line up and I don’t agree it’s because of numbers. Blazblue actually pulled in very decent numbers considering this game got almost no support from major fighting game sites outside of Dustloop. How many entrants did Evo organizers expect BB to have over the two staples SFIV, and Marvel, and the brand new MK9? BB came in a respectful 4th place, and had big names like Tokido playing, and it’s an overall great game.
BB had all the features tournament players have been demanding for their more popular franchises, like a in-depth tutorial and training mode, great balance, quick button mapping, lack of cheesy comeback mechanics, and so on. So where is the support?
I’m not even really arguing with the line up, what bothers me is the hypocrisy. The people here talking about wanting to support the best fighting games, but the bottom line is that Evo is about making money just like everybody else. To reiterate I’m not mad about the line up, but next time I hear Evo supporters accusing other companies for capitalizing on the popularity of FGs over their tournament viability, I’m not gonna buy it.
This. Higher ups look at three things when doing anything business-releated:
Attendance.
Attendance.
Effing Attendance.
They don’t really care that ElvenShadow, HeartNana, and 40 of their very bestest friends across the entire world play (insert anime/airdash fighter here) and are willing to meet up once a year at what is essentially a get-together for bff’s. They just care that the other games bring in numbers that possibly stretch into four figures. When your game isn’t breaking THREE figures at the biggest fighting game event in the world, then you’re lucky if you get an explanation at all. Scratch that. You got one already. It’s your piss-poor attendance record. Anything else said is either romanticizing or sour grapes, whichever one you choose to go with in your vitoral-laced forum post that barely hides the fact that you haven’t gone to a major to support your game.
And no, Anime Central wasn’t a major.
For those of you who HAVE left your basement and your modem to play competition, I dare all of you to go to Evo this year and make the biggest side tourney the event has ever seen. Fucking DARE you. Hell, I WANT to see it. I want to see your numbers in your community-organized event DWARF Mortal Kombat 9. I want ArkSys to look at your side tourney and say “holy shit America still loves us”. And then I want them to make another Guilty Gear and put traces of their happy, nostalgic, PROUD AS A FUCKING LION tears onto each disc as a love-letter to those of you who supported the scene and made them proud.
…or, you could make another forum post about how much no one understands you. Your choice.
This particular question you should be asking the Blazblue community…

its cause hazama trolled the shit outta mr wizard at evo so now wizard is salty as fuck about BB.
stay trolled wizard
Oh look another person making a thread ensuring that BB never gets looked at ever again for a EVO.
If you wanna get your game into a major like evo you need to actually show up. I posted something like this on the MK forums, and well, guess it worked out huh?? herp derp
Not Wizard’s fault people don’t wanna watch lolis fighting fruity guys with katanas on the stream.
“…or, you could make another forum post about how much no one understands you. Your choice.”
It’s official, anime fighter fans are the emos of the FGC:rofl:
I’d swear BB was in twice (10 and 11)… am I being high again?
If people are gonna complain about payola though, they should be mad at arcsys not Evo.
If I remember correctly, 2009 was the year of the exhibition where Rob won for free with Noel. I wanna say that, in 2010, BB was moved to a side tourney because the community didn’t want to play an older version (either CS after CS2 was out or CT after CS was out, can’t remember).
Yes, Evo is about making money, everybody knows that. It’s too easy to blame the Blazblue community for not getting into Evo, when that’s far from the truth. We all know how Evo works, it’s 6 games max and we knew that SFxT, SFIV, and UMvC3, and one Namco game were shoe ins. The only games left on the table where MK9, KOF 13, and BB, and MK9 paid there way into Evo so it got a pass.
Yeah KOF is getting better numbers then BB, it must be because BB community sucks right? No disrespect to KOF, I’m glad it made it into Evo, but you’re gonna tell me that BB community brought it on themselves because maybe they didn’t feel like coming out to play an inevitably outdated version of the game? I’m sure it had nothing to do with KOF XIII being literally brand spanking new, finally decent version KOF game in 10 years? The point was that BB was going to get the shaft regardless of what the BB community did.
Now people are trying to say it’s not about the money, it’s the love of the game? Even though Evo gave BB the middle finger they should still pay money to travel all the way out to Evo and run a side tourney with no real pay out, and somehow acquire more entries then one of the 6 Evo supported games, and maybe maybe maybe if a new FG game doesn’t come out in 2013, they’ll let BB back in next year?
You tell any pro gamer to do that and see if they don’t knock the kool-aid back in your face.
