Nioh - Nioh 2 out now!

Nue is pretty easy once you learn the trick. You get hit by the lightning you’re dead but it’s pretty easy to avoid.

I passed out after I got two-shot by him. Going to give it some real attempts here soon.

So my only real gripe with the game is that it’s not all in one giant world/level. After you beat a level you get sent out to that weird minimap before you pick a mission and I’m just not a fan of that, makes it feel like a handheld game or something in that regard. I think this game would have benefited from having a more Souls-esque level design.

I was so disappointed when I got to that minimap guys. Oh well.

I don’t really mind the menus. A tip against Nue is to use the entrance’s roof so then the lightning never hits the floor. Ezpz.

Nuevo and muneshige were fucking easy to me, I beat muneshige on my first try. I had a LOT of trouble with the 2nd boss. I think bosses could have a tad less health. The boss fights are lots of fun but drag on a bit too much IMO.

For Nue, just hit him in his glowing chest while he’s shooting the sweeping laser. Back up after a few hits, because he’ll tail swipe.

Rinse and repeat.

My biggest concern about this game is the build variety, tbh. It really seems that light armor + Onmyo is the best way to cruise through, with a splash of Ninjutsu for some pills.

Spears are the most effective weapons it seems due to range, and Ki Pulse dodging makes range management a joke.

This just happened to me. I laughed alot!

There are so many Guardian Spirits in this game, holy shit.

just beat the centipede it was a little annoying but those resistance talismons and all the antidotes made posion a non-issue. loved the mine level it didn’t just force you to tank through the poison you could avoid it with careful movements and each time i took one source down it felt great like unlocking a shortcut.

now im in some flooded temples and man its beautiful. i love everything about it so far.

If you think bosses have too much health it’s just because of your weapon. If you look at axe vids, you can see their health is kinda low.

Or axes are just fucking crazy strong lol

I still think their health is fine though, personally, and I’ve been using Kusarigama

I do think Onmyou and Ninjutsu are really strong but the pure damage of a melee build really is strong dude. Spears definitely have some tough to deal with attacks but, for example, low stance sword, dual sword, and sickle are all faster than the spear, so you just have to learn how to get around it I think

Mobs are prone to hyper armor right through any low stance nonsense, I find.

Only enemies wearing visibly thick armor actually have hyper armor. Besides, what’s great about low stance is you can easily attack once and dodge away or behind them if they do have hyper armor. Granted if they have a spear and start using low stance you can’t do that, but then you need to use your longer range attacks, like sword mid stance strong, but you’ll have to be a bit pre-emptive. If you are already within your low stance range then just use that as you’ll beat spear low stance. If they’re in low stance AND have hyper armor, then you’ll have to pick your attacks really carefully and try to hit them during a whiff instead of as a counter

Spears are much worse with sickle since although you outrange it, it’s faster at it’s ranges, and the sickle doesn’t have good guard breaks like sword, dual sword, and axe do so it’s pretty dangerous

From what I’ve seen Kusarigama also looks pretty damn easy to Parry and punish when they are in Mid or High stance, PVP will be funny if this is indeed true and the masses start getting humiliated.

But yeah I wouldn’t use the Spear/Chain combo together as they seem rather impractical as a pairing. Plus I want to cosplay as Yoshitora and have as many swords as possible strapped to my body.

Finally got to play yesterday. Still in the first area/mission that was from the 2nd demo. The game does seem easier…either that or I just got better. Still have died a few times.

But those deaths were my fault 100% from me seeing if I can get away with being reckless lol

Took out Nue and Tachibana last night. Nue was an annoying fight, but a lot of it had to do with me being an impatient bastard when it came to the fight. He has certain attacks that leave him wide open, and if you hit him during these you’ll shave off his entire Ki meter in a single hit. At that point it’s all about Ki Pulse/watching out for his lightning attack since that’s all he can do at zero Ki. Also, if you guys haven’t, dump at least 1 point into Spirit. It gives you +10 Ki off of a single stat, which is crazy.

Someone explain Onmyou and Ninjutsu to me. I unlocked some Ninjutsu that lets me enchant my weapons, but I need to do a sub-mission before I can use it or something? I feel like I have a decent grasp of a lot of the mechanics so far except for how Onmyou and Ninjutsu work.

@“AYO?!” You got a PS4? What’s your tag?

Nah I chose wrong in the Console Race Wars Ultra Redux edition and got an Xbone. So now this thing is wasting away because a tiny scratch on the surface means the trade value is $30 and I’m not in a position to Sony Boyz it up right now.

But I been watching ENB play Nioh and it has been enjoyable, reminds me of Onimusha on crack.

Spear/Axe is a good combo, the Axe fucks sword users and gives you a high damage option vs the safety of the spear. Their stats complement each other as well.

I don’t know why you’d go pure melee though. Even if you wanted the additional damage boost from having all your stats in your primary/secondary, you can use the Book of Reincarnation to get high enough Dex/Magic to complete the training missions. Then just respec it out and use hairs to unlock the op stuff. You can invest into the skill that gives you more slots and/or just leave a couple points in it so you can use them. A lot of the good ones don’t even scale with your Ninjutsu/Onmyo power. I guess you’d be pure melee until you get enough locks though, but you can get it pretty early on with minimal stat investment.

If it let you buy it you can already use it. The ones that say require mission ??? won’t let you get them until you unlock and complete a mission in the dojo.

I agree with you guys on the damage the Axe does. It’s insane. I just wish I liked its slow-ass moveset, I like the regular samurai sword+dual swords a lot more with some Kusari-gama on the side.

Haha, Gamestop is the best. I bought a backup PS3 super slim+GTAV+a pad for $27 because the clerk at GS only wanted to give the guy like $20 for all of that because the PS3 “didn’t have a hard drive.”

Sell that Xbone on Craigslist man. You can get used PS4’s in the 200ish range now, there’s only 60+ million of those things floating around right now.

Onmyo and Ninjutsu are basically like magic in Souls. Each Jutsu (or spell, basically) has a set amount of uses until you have to die or use a shrine to get them back, and they can go in any ten of your equipment slots that show up on the bottom left.

The skill menu took a little getting used to for me as well, because the layout is a little confusing. So basically most Onmyo/Ninjutsu have 2 upgrades you can get after unlocking the initial one, and these upgrades will slowly decrease the amount of Onmyo/Jutsu capacity you need to equip them. Allowing you to equip more at once. There’s also 3 different types of points: Swordsmanship, Ninjutsu and Onmyo which apply to weapon skills, ninjutsu skills and magic skills respectively. You can get these points in a myriad of ways. Using Hair Locks, unlocking titles, getting weapon profeciancy points by using a weapon a ton, or leveling up Skill, Dex, Strength, or Magic.

A lot of those upgrades and skills however can only be unlocked by completing the Dojo Tutorial missions available from the starting point menu. Some of those missions start unlocked, the rest you’ll have to play through the game to unlock.

Same here. That sub mission had me fucking seething with anger by my 8th attempt.
