It is lazy, on both the part of you the user who doesn’t want to do a simple work around that pad players have had to deal with for decades while gaming on the PC, and on the people who ported the game and didn’t supply basic kb/m support.
You would honestly buy PC software that doesn’t have any functionality for it’s primary input device? I’m not going to give my money to Koei who couldn’t be bothered to have the essentials.
Tried playing Beyond Good and Evil on PC. Turns out it has no controller support at all. None, not even a mod.
So I uninstalled and deleted the shit. So I understand how keyboard warriors feel about this with this game. K+M to play this sounds like dog shit to me, but it should still be an option. A crappy one but an option none the less.
Mouse and keyboard is pretty good for soul games. If you’re playing on a PC you at least have like a mouse with 2 extra mouse buttons minimum and if you don’t you probably should. More than enough binds to handle these games comfortably and you get more comfortable camera control as a trade off for WASD 8 directional movement vs analog.
HOWEVER. Keyboard by itself is like… why? I saw those binds for Keyboard only. You had attacks bound to like J, I, K, L and camera controls bound to shit like U for camera up and N for camera down, H for camera left and the best part…
I’m a Southpaw, so everything of note is pretty much bound to the number pad area, with map, items, character etc screens bound to ins, home, page up, page down, and end, with del getting hotkey’d to function as esc.
Sucks that most games won’t let you hotkey at will.
It makes it damned difficult for a lefty, what with the number pad enter key and 5 never being bind-able.
Third Party software is my friend.
And the only other reason I would ever use Razer kit, beyond the fact that they actually have a selection of Southpaw mice.
Yea Ive fucked with all those programs in the past. It’s a pain in the ass and I don’t want to deal with it, especially in a game that originally had controller support since its a damn console port.
Just finished 100%ing Nioh’s main game with all side missions (PS4), now onto the Dragon of the North Story! Gotta finish this shit before the years out so I can call the complete version of it my GOTY
Been considering respecing for dual swords and odachi, any recommendations on build focus there? Already built for dual swords cause I love them but other than that my build is all over the place which has lead to some stat balance issues
Just so you know, the DLC is balanced for the people who’d been playing the game as those DLC came out, so it will be significantly harder. If you can’t deal with it, then go to NG+ first and maybe just complete the first area or two, THEN go back.
Personally I think it’s doable even if you go straight into it, it’s just going to be a challenge
Keyboard + mouse is great for these games when it’s done right. Mouse is very good at aiming and moving the camera around and when done properly lacks the imprecise acceleration of an analog stick. The Witcher games use mouse really well with A and D set to strifing and S to walk back while looking forward and mouse to move the camera. This makes locking on obsolete as you have full and precise control over the camera.
Dark Souls isn’t as good as The Witcher in that regard as pressing a direction will make the character face that way, but still I beat all three with K+M just fine and it was very handy for the Nameless King for example.
I wanted to play this but no K+M is a deal breaker. Hopefully someone hacks it in.
