Started playing this week… and this happened.
[/quote]yeah that bridge is a bitch i never had as much trouble with falling off with the flooded temple as i did that place. the temple was mostly water with pathways so it was pretty easy to know where everything was where as the bridge just has occasional holes that are hard to see.
Fuck yeah to redistributing prestige points, now you really can try any build on one character
Also, FUCK YEAH to being able to continue to pick up ammo
Some very nice quality of life fixes there
Is it a good game to pick up? I just finished ffxv and enjoyed it
Ever played Dark Souls/Bloodborne? If so and you enjoyed them, you’ll probably enjoy this game.
man i need some pointers
I started the game my intention was to do ninja run, and i’m doing alright so far, but i find all the item management a bit overwhelming, forging reforging soul matching and so on
I’ve not even changed my armor since i got that ninja gear that you get right near the start, mainly because i wanted to be a ninja but i know you can change the appearance of on piece of armor to look like any other, i just been lazy but i’ve just made the second region now and i think it’s about time i started sorting out my gear
I just need a couple of pointers

soul matching is it worth it? i know weapons can pass certain traits onto others but are the weapons actually better other than the passed down traits they inherit, or do i not bother and just pick up better shit in game?
-
weapon familiarity, I have a habit of using the same weapon and forgetting to switch, all i see is X weapon is say 100 damage and if Y weapon is 95 damage i wont bother use it despite the little bonus differences, so i max it’s familiarity and then just keep on using, should i be switching more? and once i reach Max familiarity what do i do with this weapon?

forging and reforging, is it worth dabbling in or stay away
Soul matching is very much worth it. It basically lets you keep any gear with skills you like so long as you can pay for the items to be levelled up. It does get very expensive though. That’s also not to say you won’t find better items though, you might find better versions of stuff you’re already using.
Familiarity is whatever obviously it’s going to max out on the weapons you use but if you want to pass on skills from one weapon to another just equip it and use some whetstones. You’ll always want max on any weapon you’re using for the bonuses
I haven’t really forged too much because I’m not sure got to get multiple skills on an item but reforming can be useful since I might like the look of a weapon but since I don’t parry I can switch it out for a different skill, so yeah reforging can be really helpful.
ive barely dabbled at all with any of the advanced features and ive been doing fine
if you ever start thinking you’re doing too little damage or taking too much damage then just check your inventory and you’ll usually have picked up the same item but higher level. you don’t have to use the very best stuff and break your style i personally use armor several steps below just because it looks good.
I’m at the end of the game and the only thing I’ve done at the Blacksmith is buy that book that lets you reset all your skills for like 50K gold or something. Seemed way cheaper to buy those than to buy one of the books at the Teahouse.
Most of the smithy stuff is for optimization. As long as you pick the highest base level of whatever equipment you’ll be fine. If you really want to use a specific set of clothes I think soul match is great. It costs less to do that with armors and you tend to pick up so many that it’s easy to level them up. The MAIN(not only) use is for raising base level of equipment, and until you understand the finer points, it’s fine to just use it like that.
If you don’t care about specifics though just pick the highest level weapon with the highest rarity, and the highest level armor that keeps you in your preferred weight class. Then if you want to change how it looks, just do that
Soul forging and the like becomes more important in the post game than anywhere else honestly
Familiarity actually increases attack relative to how big the familiarity bar is and how much it’s filled, so picking a higher level weapon with lower attack than a lower level weapon with max familiarity is advisable generally since after the higher level one is maxed it WILL be stronger (in almost all cases)
I just got to region 3 and haven’t touched Reforging and Soul Matching yet. Things have been going pretty smoothly overall. From what my stream has been telling me, Soul Matching is more necessary late game than early game. You should be able to make do with what you find from drops for now. Save your money.
can you guys rank this game’s difficulty compared to demon, dark souls, dark souls 2, bloodborne, and dark souls 3?
I had a hell of a time with bloodborne as my first DS game, started off with the whip…
However I eventually beat it and I think it’s the easiest game.
Only played 25% of dark souls 1, about 10-15 percent in dark souls 2, and I didn’t enjoy dark souls 3.
I’m assuming I will like nioh because it seems more fast paced like bloodbrone.
I personally think it’s easier than all of the souls games though there are some enemies that I find more difficult than the souls counterparts I.e wheelmonks
your character is MUCH more powerful than most Dark Souls builds so it actually gets easier overtime.
How can you say Bloodborne is the easiest when you haven’t experienced more then 25% of the other games?
Well, you sort of answered the question . I would like to experience more than 25 percent of the other games but it was too hard compared to bloodborne so I couldn’t experience more than 25 percent of the game.
