5. Shovel Knight because you cant turn down a game called shovel knight.
I also wanted to throw out that I really wish there was a new dissidia or at least a rerelease on 3ds thats probably the best final fantasy game to come out in the last decade yeah it not saying much but you know its true
So I finished PW:DD.
I feel lile it lacked in certain areas.
Major Spoilers:
[details=Spoiler]I feel like it was not as strong as all of the other PW’s when it came to the villians. Bobby, in particular, is probably the least interesting Final Case Villian in the series.
Apollo received major development and I liked him the whole game. Plus seeing Juniper go <3 over him was daw-able.
I wish Athena wasn’t bounced with so much. She was an interesting character, but I feel like she didn’t get enough chances to have her character shine through.
Nick is Nick: still awesome.
Pearls needed more lines.
Miles is also still awesome and an ass at times.
Trucy also needed more scree time. She still has a story to tell judging from the end of AJ.
Blackquill was game 1 Edgeworth to me, just a bit darker and not as obsessed with winning.
All in all I liked this game, but hated that the villians felt so weak and that I couldn’t examine everything anymore and get funny dialogue. Oh, and I felt like the trials were too easy, but that could be me knowing what to look for.

Glad you’re enjoying it as much as me  did you get past 4-3 yet?
I can’t find the link, but on Polygon Nicalis said they know the game is a little buggy, but would rather release the game on time so Wii U/3DS owners don’t have to wait longer.
Yeah, I thought the same about the villains. None of them were that good. On that note, I was shocked at the identity of the final bad guy. However, that’s not because I was surprised it was him, but that he was the last one. I was expecting someone more sinister and interesting to appear. After that case, I thought, “Great. Now let’s tackle the last case.” Instead, I was let down when I saw the credits start.
Overall, it was a weaker entry in the series and it didn’t come close to my favorite AA game.
Seriously, I was expecting another case as well. This one did not come anywhere close to JFA or TAT levels. I’d probably place it as the weakest entry.
Yeah, after time to stew, I believe it’s in the middle ground. I don’t think it’s as meh as JFA (outside of the final case) or as ridiculously polarizing and frustrating as AJ, but it doesn’t meet the level of AA1 and T&T.
[details=Spoiler]This is indeed a series that’s honestly more defined by its villains than its protagonists, so a game with weak villains will hurt. The weaker entries in the series still had two of the most diabolical and reprehensible villains ever in Matt Engarde and Kristoph Gavin. This game didn’t bring it as well. The Phantom was more frightening as a theory and as a thought than in reality. It got way too narmy when he switched a ton of masks in the final Cross-Examinations. I would’ve rather him actually be Fullbright rather than an “impostor” (though since he replaced him before the start of the game it’s hard to really say “impostor”).
However I believe that some of it was made up for with the rest of the characters. I know people say that Blackquill was too reminiscent of Edgeworth but I don’t really believe that. He didn’t need the protagonists to knock sense into him or get him to turn a corner. He already was a Prosecutor on the side of truth. And while he sort of had his own “Framed for Murder” schtick, he wasn’t really framed. He chose to play the “villain” and get stuck with the murder rap just to make sure Athena didn’t get nailed. Knowing his impending death was coming for something he didn’t commit, he didn’t falter. He stayed the course, finding the truth in other cases when he could.
I did like how Apollo and Nick didn’t automatically had their underlying issues from AJ resolved in this game. Apollo still had a bit of a trust issue when it came to Nick that only got resolved in the final case. Though I can’t imagine it’d stay that way when he finds out that Nick is still keeping the fact that Trucy’s his sister from him or that his mother is still alive. It’s a nice reminder that for all intensive purposes that he was a lawyer that was forced to cut his teeth in the “Dark Age of the Law”. Makes sense that he’ll continue to have trouble trusting people considering his first mentor was a psychopath and his second and current one picked him up when he was at his most jaded. But he stepped out on his own, finally worked past his trust issues with Nick AND he has a girl that’s nigh obsessed over him. Considering the hell he went through late, with you know, him essentially getting his ass kicked he deserves it.
I know a few people complained about Nick seeming reverting his personality from AJ but it made sense. He was more optimistic and had less reason to be an asshole. Plus it’s a lot easier to be the Chessmaster when you’re studying and involved in a case for 7 years.
Now for Athena, I honestly enjoyed her a lot and I really wish I could’ve seen how Nick met her and how that interaction went. A partner character that’s a real main character all her own. Plus I like her Objection theme. She’s a girl with probably THE most tragic Main Character backstory yet and yet she moves forward with a smile on her face. She gets put through the Trauma Conga Line from hell in Case 5 and comes out clean. Really made the Triple Objection so damn epic.
Now onto the actual gameplay…they made it a bit too easy. I appreciate them streamlining a lot of things, but they overdid it. Only being able to investigate at set times is really disappointing. Plus because they basically hold your hand during the Investigation parts it meant no more meaningful Magatama plays. I’m not too sad to have to use Perceive less though. I thoroughly enjoyed the Mood Matrix. I wish we had more of it. The ending thought trees were pretty epic as well. It was a nice visual representation of how Nick and his crew turn their thinking around. Unfortunately it was ALSO too easy. Gameplay in general was just geared way too easy. Need to ramp it up a bit more. Doesn’t have to be insane, but can’t be that easy.
Down to the presentation…it was great. Graphics are great, and I DEFINITELY enjoyed the Music. I just wish we had 3 different Pursuit themes like they did with the Objection themes. Cornered for Nick, Overtaken for Apollo and Keep Pressing On for Athena and the group together. It’s fine though because Keep Pressing On was great, second only to Cornered when it comes to Pursuit themes. Just the music elsewhere was top notch. I’d say it’s the best OST that AA has put out in one game.[/details]
Overall, I’d say the game has a lot going for it while also having plenty of things they can improve on. I can’t wait for PLvsAA and I definitely can’t wait for the Feudal Era game. I also hope to see a damn localization of AAI2, though the fan translation patch is almost done.
The fan translation patch for AAI2 was released last weekend, I believe. I just finished playing it, and it’s pretty well done. I only had the game crash once while I was presenting random evidence, but that was in the case 1-3 patch, so it might be fixed now.
Maybe it’s just me, but this game was pretty challenging. I died over 20 times, and had to rely heavily on badges and items for most of the game (that badge combo that makes you not lose damage on the following 6 hits is godlike). I think…I’m pretty bad at these timing-based games.
The game is fun, the best in the series, IMO. And very innovative use of 3D.
And Yoko Shimomura knocks it out of the park again with a great soundtrack. It is known that for JRPG’s, IMO it is very important that the boss music hit the right tones: and it did: the best song in the game hands down.
Still playing through Dream Team myself. I agree that it’s challenging when you’re not good at dodging attacks, since enemies hit pretty hard and their attacks can last a long time. One time, I fought that optional dragon/pterodactyl(?) on Mount Pajama and ended up using almost all my items just to stay alive.
Ran into some Dr. Mario viruses, those things are fun to fight.
