Skipping Persona 3 & 4 is a terrible idea. Especially P4. Persona games are spin-offs of SMT, and don’t play like SMT. If you have a Vita, grab P4 Golden.
As for SMT, you should start with Nocturne if you can find it. Awesome game. SMT4 is $50 because of the included soundtrack & strategy guide.
haha SMT4 BEATEN ASS right off the bat, I wasn’t bein smart and kept gettin peaced right at the beginning and when I was in deep to Charon for Macca he like Son I can take dese Play Coins and I’m all PLAY COINS, PLAY COINS NIGGA! … I then gave him my play coins and realized I have to start taking my 3ds to work JUST IN CASE
also I really thought Jonathan was an afro havin chick based on cover art, now i’m all what this thing is a dude?
I can understand the people that are kinda sad about the navigatin/first person battles of the game, it definitely feels like a handheld game. But luckily these aesthetic things to not detract from my enjoyment of the game. It just doesn’t suck you in like Nocturne tho.
It is easier then the other main Shin Megami Tensai games are supposed to be… but that still doesn’t mean it won’t try to tear you a new digital asshole within the first floor of the first dungeon. If you are looking for a challenge like that and don’t care about story/characters SMT4 is good place to start. Other then that, if you are looking for something with more story or character focus, I recommend sampling the spin offs like Devil Survivor, Soul Hackers or even older games. Persona is similar in tone and some features but compared to the main SMT games it is like Assassin’s Creed games to Demon/Dark Souls games. Both are the same genre but radically different in goals in terms of difficulty and emphasis.
As for the price… I’m not sure myself. I know that the game is pretty massive in content (not even counting the DLC), initially had a lot of pre-order bonuses but it could also deal with the quick release turn around (it was just released in Japan this spring) or it could be a sad by product of Atlus’s parent company being in trouble and they are trying to get money. It is somewhat negated with the new Club Nintendo offer where if you register Fire Emblem Awakening and SMT 4 you get $30 in eShop credit. I’m getting it myself in August before that deal expires.
I do hope Capcom aren’t dicks and charge full price for their digital only release of the next Ace Attorney game.
I think the FPS battles are awesome. There is so much fluff cut out of the combat like waiting for some animation to happen. That’s one of the reasons I dislike the combat in P3 so much… it just drags on. I also like that the towns are just menus. It also cuts out a lot of bs so you can get back into the game ASAP. No time spent running around a city/town that is mostly static with a few NPCs that aren’t worth talking to. Good design choice imo.
I am coming in to say once again Fuck you Tom Nook and your Jew ways. damn those expensive house upgrade! yes I don’t have to do them but…You’re going to sooner or later. That said I have fallen in love all over again with Animal Crossing via New Leaf.
Tom really does ruin the fun. Small 1 block radius upgrades past your first floor and room expansions all cost half a mill. It really feels like you need to do some investment in turnips to get anywhere without any real grinding.
This Mega Man GB game is some hardcore shit. The first Wily stage is crazy; you go through this long level, and right at the end you gotta fight 4 robot masters in a row, all of them new. The gauntlet is part of the level. If you lose all your lives you’re sent right back to the beginning. I’m hoping the boss run is the end of the level, and I don’t have to fight another boss afterwards.
The game is good and I’m glad I bought it, but there are some interesting differences between this game and the NES games. The game feels slower, but that’s probably because of the GB limitations. The hitstun seems to be longer, but that might just be a side effect of the game being slower overall.
Gaist Crusher? never heard of it…oh a new Treasure game insta buy!.. watches video below…looks like zoids+pokemon+monster hunter ehh could be cool I guess, I just hope it doesn’t have some yugioh card collecting bullshit.
ALBW is looking insane! I never noticed before how 2d wall mode depletes the item meter.
