i have somewhat been looking for an excuse to play those, are they pretty good? Whats good about them.
I just seen the trailer, it looks pretty clean. Man I am so glad I copped a 3DS, not trying to turn this into handle war but fuck the Vita lolol.
You know I was wondering if me missing the black outlines and style of original Yoshi’s Island was just me with hindsight nostalgia glasses. Then I saw someone post this on neogaf.

They really created something magical in the original SNES game.
I stand corrected. Apparently in Japan the new Zelda is specifically title Link to the Past 2 (but in Japanese of course). No American title has been set yet.
I haven’t played those two games yet, so I don’t know if they’re good. It seems that Parallel Worlds is a lot more popular. I’ll play them sometime.

Dat zelda game looks so fucking good.
Why “Yoshi’s Island” should be studied at game design schools
^Dope article right there. Click on it.
Also, check out this speedrun for some amazing commentary. Details the unbelievable technical depth to this game. I believe this is the masterpiece of the SNES era, even though I like Super Metroid way more and I know most people like LttP best.
I think what we have to do is stop looking at new games through nostalgia goggles. Yes the snes yoshis island was something special but we now have a new yoshis island and you have people complaining about the art style(not saying you are Ragnarok but I have seen some people in some forums talking shit already.)
The same with the new zelda that is coming out. People are already talking shit about it and they know nothing about it yet. It is ok to have concerns of course but hating on a game that is not out yet is just ridiculous. It is that damned spoiled gamer attitude that just annoys the shit outta me.
Be happy with the announcements, if you have concerns then have them as long as you have a reason to base the concerns, wait for the damn game to come out.
Bastards just cant be happy.
oh yeah…3DS XL Circle Pad Pro is now available for sale if anyone is interested
probably most would buy it for Monster Hunter but nothing else that’s coming out anytime soon seems to need it.
New Yoshi’s Island art looks fantastic it looks like it’s going for a more cream colored dream world aesthetic, but the comic book-esque thick outline style of the original stands out and looks superior IMO.
Are you new to SRK? The internet?
INB4 kinniku Buster says how shitty the nintendo direct was.
It’s not just nostalgia glasses though. There are cases where the older entries of games are still way superior to the newest entries.
For real the original just pops so much more. If the game play and level design are solid the visuals won’t really matter too much. Though, I still remember the disappointment I felt with Yoshi’s Story so I’m not counting on anything at this point.
Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy new level of this. : D
the vita never stood a chance
You all do realize that one can happily own a 3DS and a Vita right?
you’re right! the vita would make a wonderful paper weight!
I wouldn’t count Vita out…I’m sure Sony has something up their sleeves come E3. Vita also has portable Dragon’s Crown and Soul Sacrifice coming out this week. Vita’s putting up a fight and it’s faring ok in comparison to other handhelds that have to tried to take Nintendo’s throne. All that being said though Sony needs to do something for Vita this year that will somehow lessen blows from the slew of titles that are coming out with Pokemon at the forefront. I’m kind of afraid though since they have the P4 on the horizon that they may dedicate most of their time to that.
Unfortunately I haven’t touched my Vita since I first got it, it’s been sitting in front of my computer screen crying for attention. Dragon’s Crown probably would have made me finally buy a game for it…if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s getting released on PS3 as well.
That DKCR3D trailer made me remember that music is what really makes a game for me. Obviously gameplay and whatnot are important too, but the music and sound design is always what brings me back to the games I love.
I haven’t been impressed by game music in a while. Maybe my expectations are now too high and I’m falling for that garbage comparative logic that sikwidit was referring to.

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is the latest game I’ve played that had solid music. Its more memorable tracks are used for fights and bosses though. I actually talked about this in the Game Music Thread.
Damn this feed lol.
I kind of wish Nintendo just quit the console business and put all their power into making a amazing handheld. Could you imagine if 3DS had the complete focus of the company…fuck we would instantly have another golden age of classic gaming.
Fuck yes, you’ll be able to choose from the classic style of play and the new story based play in the Etrian Odyssey 1 3DS remake. It’ll also have a new expert and casual/picnic mode alongside its original mode. An even harder EO1? I’m ready! Dat Atlus!
Edit: Oh, and those orchestral remixes on the official site are awesome.
