good ninja films: hard to find, and usually older, e.g. Shaolin v.s. Ninja, Shinobi. He actually died in that. Think it was 80’s early 90’s. I can’t find this anywhere, i saw it 3 times when i was a kid, but my sis thought it was better to purchase boyz n’ the hood than asains choppin each other up. You’ll see Shaolin vs. Ninja & say “Thats that nigga from Fist of Legend!”

Ninja Assassin might be alright. Not holding my breathe for either movie being great, though.
there are zero good ninja movies. oh wait. checks dvd’s. chinese super ninjas is that shit. they go through fighting like all elemental versions of ninjas. its old school, but entertaining. putting it in right now. those 80’s joints i must admit were good for their time, but really, besides cameos, there has never been a good just straight up ninja flick. so we will see how this goes. i dont like ninjas that arent straight mystical. i think thats one of the biggest lures of it, is all the super powers and shit. i dont like toned down ninjas at all. period

i got that. red shadow wasnt bad for what it was, and budget and all that. my bad. chinese super ninjas is far better.

scott adkins ninja is basically storm shadow vs snake eyes if you took out the gi joe aspect of it all.
i mean, besides nostalgia and shit. lets look at what you see from ninjas in ya average comic, anime, and manga. none of your most favorite aspects of ninjas has yet to properly be done right within the 21st century at LEAST. its not very hard, and im pretty confused what the hold up is. i guess there are some assholes somewhere that think ninja movies are whack, but yet we get sf chunli, dbz, kof, and soon to be tekken. cmon son. take that budget and go to work on something GOOD. if they can make vampires overly cool again mostly because of blade and underworld, even though vampires have never left the big screen to be honest, and then after that faglight of course, then they can make a good ninja movie with at least a sequel.
im not knocking ninja assassin already. i hope its good. just sayin, yeah, i literally just finished watching chinese super ninjas, and its good for what it is, but is it like, oh, damn, oooh. nah, its pretty much nostalgic for me. all a writer needs to do is watch ninja scroll, afro samurai, read samurai deeper kyo, read and watch basilisk, and he has got all his basics right there for some good shit. i say afro because of the mix of feudal japan shit with technology. ninja scroll because of the obvious, but to be more specific, jubei, poison cooch, rock face, little old master, bee man, and metal fingers to name a few. samurai deeper kyo because of its large variety of characters and general supernatural skills they possess, to make my reasoning very short. basilisk just because.
there is so much good japanese mythology in general that they could mix into a good ninja flick, its almost a conspiracy they dont have one yet. ninja assassin will probably be good in its own way, but im still kinda looking for that old school super ninja type shit, or like some afro samurai, new school with old school flava type shit. fucking stupid part about movies nowadays is they wanna be too real. ITS A FUCKING MOVIE. if afro came to the big screen with an excellent budget to get us quality cgi and epic fight scenes, it would be gold. fuck trying to make it something i can relate to in real life. give me fiction! i dont know where that group of people that started this, thats not real, bullshit came from, but they have ruined movies in my opinion.

“Ninja Mono” is actually pretty cool. i believe it was the first ninja movie. ninja scroll wins over anything in my opinion. animation or live action, ninja scroll wins. i heard leonardo decaprio was producing a live action version of ninja scroll but i don’t see how that will be any good. somethings are less cheesy when they’re in an animated world and then you bring them into the real world and it’s almost always ass.
this looks a lot better than that other ninja movie thats coming out now. i remember seeing ads on scott’s site when Wolverine Origins came out (he stunt doubled.) he supposed to be a trickster too so that was awesome.
