I was playing NG2 a few days ago. Chapter Challenge. My backlog stays taking the backseat to NG2, Razor’s Edge, Diablo 2 and Path of Exile.
@rukawa_kaede Yeah, they were kings at one point in story. Things change, though. If I told you in the PS2 era that Konami, Capcom and Square-Enix would all be 95% complete garbage this gen(with a few exceptions) would you have believed me?
I look forward to jimmy’s posts on Razor’s Edge. I had a good time reading @HatredEdge posts about how fucking bullshit some of the bosses in RE are back in the PS3 thread.
@HarmoNaz I hope you get dat RE soon, too. I’ve told @crotchpuncha@Sarangha a million times to get RE, if I bug them enough someday they’ll drop that 20 bucks on RE.
I always feel like I want to like NG games more than I actually do. I loved NG1/Black, but it’s all been downhill from there for me. Just filling the screen with so much shit that the game becomes about leaning on I-frames nonstop (while the enemies are leaning on it just as hard) sucks all the fun out of it. The boss fights, which should be the highlight of a game like this, are almost always fucking terrible. The story’s atrocious, the level design sucks, the characters are bland. The ninja trials were about the only time I had any fun with NG2/RE.
NG went from “look at all the extra new cool shit we added” to “look how much of the same rehashed shit we left out just so you get the complete experience meidocre re-release”
I love this aspect. “How the fuck am I going to deal with all this fucking shit being thrown at me?”
I deal with it because I’m playing as Ryu Hayabusa. When I come out on top in these seemingly impossible situations I feel so damn satisfied. Games like DMC and Bayo don’t come close to making me feel this way.
Did RE bring back wall run? I don’t remember but I do remember that kunai climb (best. thing. ever.) was still in the demo. I don’t get the thought process behind removing awesome wall run sections in favor of that.
But when you play as Momiji with ho-hum underwhelming attacks, Rachel with attacks slower than molasses, and Ayane’s bad delimbing weak-ass, your opinion changes otherwise.
I don’t like playing as them in Sigma II much either. The Razor’s Edge chicks are GDLK in comparison, way more fun to play and they all seem faster. Fleshed out movelists+a huge “skill tree” where you can unlock more stuff.
@Sarangha You sell your PS3/Sigma II? If not, up for some coop sometime?
I’m hype for this, i never played NG3 because i didn’t have a ps3 and it was butt until RE anyways… but i played the shit out of black and ng2… i completed MNM a few times, the last i was playing it i gave up a tonfa only run on mission 13~ i think. those weps were the best thing ever with their incredibly unique cancel system in place… god damn i loved that game.
Man Ninja Gaiden got progressively more and more modern almost futuristic in NG3, so I dont see how thats any more OG than Raiden as a cybernetic ninja in MGR.
Man that NG 2 for NES brought back memories of my brother going thru it back in the day. Diff a good feels video seeing that intro again with them cinematics.
Can we safely assume that all decapitation, loss of limb, geysers of blood will be back at NO loss of frames, because this
game will be on next systems only? Fingers crossed. I’m sick of developers and publishers putting games on inferior
systems that were never meant to handle the intended game just for an extra buck.
Ryu’s still an OG. He’s one of the originals, him and Shinobi were around before Ibuki, Guy, MGS1 re-imagined Greyfox, re-imagined Raiden post MGS2 ladyboy, etc.
Ryu also uses traditional weaponry. He’s not in a terminator suit killing people with a lightsabre, because Ryu Hayabusa is fucking raw.
Not as much as finishing before the timer ends, and without taking any damage.
Plus, getting 1000+ points for a 100+ hit combo is some weak shit. Throw an extra 10k karma points, and then I’ll have an incentive to play the game like DMC.
You do get karma score for hits but it’s usually inefficient to do the long combos because you are also timed. Easiest way to get Mater Ninja ranking would be getting the bonuses from using UTs, OTs, etc. a lot and beating the section under the time limit. Though theoretically, I guess if someone would sit there and just spam some combo somewhere or use shurikens so rack up hits and take really long to kill they could come out ahead, but that would seem like a real time waster. Also don’t think it would make up for the points you get for the end of episode clear time, since that’s a lot of points.
