Ninja Gaiden IV announced, very little details so far

guillotine throw -_-

Thanks to this thread I checked out Razor’s Edge since I finished NGS2 a while back and enjoyed it. RE’s bosses are so fucking cheap, I hated almost every single boss battle except the ones against Regent of the Mask. Those were the only fair ones with the swapped camera since the control was pretty much perfect in those instances and it felt like a one on one battle of bad assery. Stuff like the helicopter firing a billion fucking missiles at you while you have to try to shoot it with a bow and fight melee against jetpack fighters, the double tanks spamming you with missiles and gun fire while you try to avoid AoE attacks when hitting their legs, the final boss firing off a ton of spam projectile while you sit in the corner 360T a bunch of spam attacking demons, ugh. That shit was so infuriating. It felt like all the boss battles were about was spam. Not that they had a difficult pattern to learn, but just massive amounts of spam. All the spam made it difficult to keep track of what was going on while playing, especially the kind that had explosions or whatever cover the screen so you couldn’t see what was going on. I don’t even remember being as frustrated with the bosses in either of the 2 previous games, I don’t think they had near the amount of spam as RE did.

Otherwise, I actually liked the game. SoB was a nice mechanic and satisfying to pull off, but I miss my health orbs as an alternative to healing. In a way, it reminded me of NG3 on NES, with the whole bio-noid and tech aspect. I thought that was cool. NG2 reminded me of NES NG2 as well with the whole demon and fiend themes going on, plus lots of blue and green color palettes similar to NES NG’s final levels. NGS1 was my least favorite of them, camera and controls really ruined it for me. :frowning:

But at least it didn’t have shitty spam bosses.

Yeah, most people hated the boss fights in RE.

I like some of them. The day 4 boss(the shapeshifting thing in the lab) is a lot of fun to fight when you realize you’re just supposed to SoB the bitch all day.

I hated the first Regent boss battle, only because I was still learning the game at that point. I liked his battles after that. I hated the T-Rex battle at first, too, but it wasn’t that bad of a boss battle. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the 1 hit kill when his head bumped into you. I liked the Lovelace battle as well, the SoB to cut her arms off was pretty fun. The giant Spider Bitch battle was pretty cool, too. Other than that, I don’t recall enjoying any of the other bosses. Grandpa was ok, but infuriating when he starts charging you with the giant wheels and they 1 shot you for bumping into their side, which could happen easily depending if the camera screws you or not. Plus, the fact you had to fight 2 spamming tanks right before it :frowning: That was one of my favorite missions, too, and completely ruined by the lame tank part.

batman games are shit, games for people with no gaming skills.

as much i i would love to see a new ng, they really dropped the ball with 3. i hope they give hayabusa a less gay outfit, something along the lines of hanzo from ss, and is it too much to ask for good platforming and level designs in the game like this? and a good camera where youo actually see the people shooting at you. better enemies would be welcome to. so far what this game did best was the combat. everything else needs a huge improvement.

That’s the kind of feedback you should post at https://www.facebook.com/teamninjastudio?ref=br_tf

But tell me, what was so bad about NGS1 controls?

R1/right trigger instantly snaps the camera to Ryu’s back.
You can freely move with the camera with the right analog stick.
Tapping the bow/ranged weapon button instantly snaps the camera to the closest ranged enemy over all other enemies.
Dash --> jump Dash --> jump >> any ranged enemy.

Edit: The combat in this game IS amazing. That’s why I like it so much. I’ll overlook some shitty design choices here and there(mainly the boss fights) because the core game(the combat) is so damn good otherwise.

@Vynce Play this already. :tup:

I agree, the core game is pretty damn good. The only mechanic I wish they’d get rid of from the series is UT. Sometimes it feels like all you can really do is charge that shit for damage against mobs because any other attack you do gets interrupted by melee mob spam. I hope the next game finds a balance between mobs, spam, and being able to do legitimate attacks that isn’t holding down a button. I would rather they focus on buffing Ninpo and removing UT. Maybe instead of UT, it would be cool to charge up a rage meter and get to do the shadow split from NES NG2.

On the other hand, Lunar 360T and Dual Katana TTTT.

I went over that in another thread somewhere. Basically it boils down to the camera swapping the directions on you as it flops around, which in tight corridors it does a lot of. For example, in the sewers when you fight about 4 or so of the pink demons, if I run down the corridor and jump towards one and Flying Swallow, and then flip the controls in the opposite direction to jump again and FS for the kill, Ryu will keep jumping forward instead of back even though I am holding the opposite direction. Then he hits a wall, and they mob me, and I lose a shit ton of health because Ryu has to finish his animations and can’t cancel them. Dodging was also affected by this, instead of dodging to the left, Ryu would dodge in some other direction like, directly into the attack. It made some bosses harder than they needed to be, like Doku’s final ghost form where he was in the way of the camera most of the time and I had to fight the controls while he swings his massive sword wildly. I’m not really sure if it’s the camera or what, but I didn’t have this problem in NGS2. NGS2 was a mostly perfect action game, I can’t complain about it. RE3, this problem kinda reared it’s ugly head a little, mostly during the bosses with lock on camera. With fixed environment camera, bosses were so much easier, since I could dodge and attack exactly in the direction I moved the stick to

The hint is to not readjust your camera every 5 seconds; it’s just going to make shit worse. You should really think about holding the block button more often.

oh i know how to play the game, ive finished the first 2 games. well more like played the firs and finished second from beginning to end at a friends house. i was actually the first one to beat the boss of my frieds since none of them understood you had to hadoken the bastard after firing arrows.

the game has enemies that shoot at you from a distance, i feel the camera should be in a position that shows whos atually firing at you. thats just a minor gripe since the camerca fucks up far more occasions. like you said, most of it can be helped manually.

and i do agree about the combat, its what makes te game shine. its pretty much perfect but they could still add a few more moves imo. its been a really long time i finished this game and the challenges.

what i dislike about ng is that there has been less platforming with each succesive release. hes a ninja, having him do some ac climbing and tenchu stealthing besides the normal fighting would have been a great addition to the game. the level designs are laughable at best. pure from a fighting perspective ng2 is probably the only game on that dmc3 level quality. bayo is close as well. story and cinematics is more of a gow forte.

The second coming of Hack and Slash is happening.

No, what you do is set the camera as fast as you like, and rotate it while you’re in the middle of OT/UT or move animations and adjust to next enemy before it finishes

Dude was talking about NGS1.

Game didn’t have OT’s of the like. Nor could you adjust the camera during an UT… at least I don’t think so.
