nice, still not better then bayonetta yet looks fun like all the other ng’s
That was just a sucker play since Team Ninja didn’t want to redo NG2’s engine on PS3, they just used Sigma 1’s(see water effects). That’s why I figured Sigma 2 got so cut down and the amount of enemies, number of encounters, etc.
Looks like it could be cool. The Camera seems…really close to Ryu. Like even closer then it was in NGO…dunno about that. UTs are there. Thats cool. It looks like Ninja Gaiden which is comforting. Not thrilled about having some woman screaming in Ryus ear while playing. Don’t like the new VA for Ryu. Don’t like his few lines either. Gameplay looks to be there so I am happy for the most part.
walkthrough is out on gametrailers http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2011-ninja-gaiden/714948 lets see what this is all about. im gonna be critical for that one dude tryin to shit on bayonetta sideways, so this better be entertaining.
um, this game looks good so far, but it doesnt look like anything more then what i expected from a ng game. even though its just a demo, and im sure there are tons to come, the quote above from the producer behind ng3 doesnt hold a lot of weight, considering bayonetta is still 100 times this game just with no over the top gory blood curdling deaths.
the talking partner reminds me of vanquish, no big. i see what theyre doing by you interacting more with the environment, killing, ect… seems like you need to pay attention in this game and its not just a super hack and slash, go go go go anymore, which i didnt mind, just stating an observation. i do hope there is some mysticism to the game i mean, like thats one of the things i really like when it comes to ninjas, and to ninja gaiden. im really not a fan of taking some of the greatest potential in the world when it comes to telling a nice story riddled with mysticism and lore, and just being like, okay insert robots and dudes with guns now, no more 3 story tall fire gods. um, why, thats fucking awesome.
considering how much japanese, and or asian mythology in general they still had to work with to do something great, i dont think it needed to get scrapped to appeal more to the cod generation, but ryu still looks pretty much intact, but im curious of what kind of powerups and weapons he will get this time around. i mean, i thought ng was already doing pretty well combining a modern world with this other fantastical world of demons, gods, and martial arts.
i really dont have too much bad to say after the walkthrough. it definitely looks like a game to be played of course, but nigga fuck you, you aint no bayonetta :p. not that the comparison should even be made in the first place, or bayonettas name shouldve ever dropped out of homies mouth. i like the sneaking up and catching niggas slippin shit. demo seemed like you were kinda in a miny movie more.
i think anyone with half a brain, and is a true fan of the stylish hack n slash genre knows that bayonetta is a 10/10 and the only thing that comes at its extremely second close is dmc3se. i think it properly surpassed dmc3se no problem, (if anyone wants to make a thread about hack and slash games for us all to debate, id gladly join in) leaving dmc4 waaaay in the dust, and dmc1 and dmc2 where they also respectfully should be. i never even really considered ninja gaiden in the same category although they technically were i guess. i always kinda considered them two cups of tea. you have ninja gaiden shit, dmc super stylish type shit, then you have shit that ninja theory makes, which is for mashers who like a story and regular ol game.
overall ng3 is looking really good.
DMC1 still shits on 3se. Jus sayin.
Anyway NG3 looks to be some cool things and some questionable things. The wall climbing just doesn’t need to be there. The glide seems cool but I hope its less context heavy in the final game. I wanna be able to control my glide and not home in on dudes wile tappin out prompted dodges an shit. The stealth stuff at the moment looks like it could end up being really cool if they keep up with unique situations for you to use it in. The Combat looks to rely too much on the Steeel meets Bone mechanic (that seems to be what they are calling it). I hope on higher difficulties it’s not so easy to chain these together and instead you need to create these opportunities. I like that seemed to have nerfed your ability to chain UTs which is good but the way he homes on guys, even across the map is questionable.
It looks about 50/50 right now to me.
Looks good so far. So i take it that theres gonna be no more fiends and theyre going for a more realistic world?
The demo’s gameplay seemed too repetitive. How many times did they use the stab to horizontal slash move? At first I thought it was cool, but after the 10th one in a few minutes, it wears thin.
thats true, i was gonna say that, but i was like eh i’ll hold off since its just a demo, which doesnt have all the weapons or upgrades available at all, and just to save time im sure its just some dude quickly mashing through just to display the new in your face killing mechanics, but i feel you, after vid 1 i was like, okay, how is this better again, but ill stay a bit open. although they should know that fans of other games you try to shit on, cough, and fans of the ng series are gonna look at that and go, wtf, okay, so you should be prepared to show off more then 1 repetitive attack for 16 minutes.
oh yeah, the gliding had me like, wtf, do i have no choice or did he input that.
The gameplay didn’t look too impressive to me. Maybe because it’s just a demo. There was no dismemberment at all either. Lots of blood, yes, but with all that slashing you’d think those soldiers would lose some extremities. I’m still going to hold on to hope and pray that this game is good, but I just don’t have faith in Yosuke Hayashi.
Also, this Kunai Climb shit is dumb. Can’t he just run up the wall?
yeah, i didnt bring that up, that no one was getting slashed in half even though he was ripping his sword through their torsos. who knows
Ninja Gaiden 2 aside from a few technical hiccups was close to perfection IMO. I find that most people who complain about it don’t even finish Warrior let alone Mentor or Path of the Master Ninja. NG3 so far does not have me impressed.
overall i agree with you, however it did feel like they got really lazy about increasing the difficulty in the harder modes by simply increasing the number of off-screen projectiles which got really fucking cheesy unless you were using the dual club weapons (can’t remember the name of them right now) that you could cancel any more into i-frames with, those things were fun as fuck in PTMN
The off screen projectile issue on the higher difficulties is definitely a pain in the ass but most people don’t take the time to learn how to use all the cheap overpowered shit Ryu has in his arsenal to deal with the “BS” that Mentor and PotMN throw at you lol.Thinking about it, in what way could they have possibly made the game more difficult if they didn’t use so many projectile based enemies on the higher difficulties? Increasing the enemy count wouldn’t work since the game already struggles with that in certain parts where there is noticeable FPS drops. Increasing the damage but making no changes to his move list wouldn’t work very well either, his moves that give him I-Frames would still make all the melee enemies a joke. Ryu has so much cheap overpowered shit that if it wasn’t for the projectile enemies Mentor/PotMN would be a cake walk.
I thought NG2 was a step back from NGB in almost every way, from the boring level design, to the boss fights leaning towards mashing and occasionally dodging instead of the fast-paced pattern-based stuff in NGB, the off-screen projectile spam, the uninspired enemy design(“durr herr lets do like a zombie but with a chainsaw and cannon, my 8-year old just drew it up it looks cool”), the lack of extra costumes or modes, the hella inconsistent framerate, EVERYTHING about that South America level; my biggest disappointment of 2008 game-wise. NGS2 takes a couple steps forward with co-op Mission Mode, costumes, less projectile spam, better framerate; but took a few steps back with the removal of the blood, the retardation of a shop system, the complete lack of any and all difficulty in Warrior mode, dumbed down the level design even more, removed the IS…shit was sad man.
I like SOME of the changes in NG3. I like that the level design is more involving now instead of “walk into area, fight badguys, move into next area” rinse and repeat for 10 hours like NGS2. I was apprehensive about the QTEs and the stealth, but I feel they keep a nice change of pace to what could become a monotonous slog of battles. I like the slide; it serves its purpose as a defensive evade, but it can be used offensively to move into enemies and knock them down. I like Ryu’s new voice, its definitely different, and the story will probably be shit like the other two, but eh. I don’t like those constant button prompts, but they stop showing up later in the game, and Hayashi said it was just a tutorial level thing. The change I love the most is the UT system change. In the previous games, the way to win/get the best Karma was “how many times can you spam UT in the time allowed!?” It was a boring, boring ass system, and at least this way should tone down the constant spam.
So…yeah. I like what I see so far.
This video is much better than the “gameplay walkthrough”. This player seems to have actually played NG before.
ninja gaiden 3, where you can cut someone in half, but it doesnt happen, all you see is blood and closeups. assholes. lol
It’s interesting that he’s touting it as having a real sword sort of feel when MGS: Rising looks WAY more like it feel like wielding an actual sword.
I was worried quite a bit at first because all I was seeing was QTEs but was then reaffirmed that they were just
there for the introduction levels. Still, I don’t want to see them anywhere. Shit was looking wayyyy too much like
that lame ass ninja game that came out a few years ago.
And yeah—where in the hell are the dismemberments??? And then they’ve kept the femmes back until paid DLC? Yikes…
They need to remake NG 1/2/3 from the SNES but in HD and harder.
