Good, I actually have a bit more respect for Hayashi for admitting they screwed up, now they can work on “restoring Ninja Gaiden to it’s former glory” instead of approaching it as "What do we do to get out of Itagaki’s shadow?"
I’d rather see them admit fault than be shitheads like Silicon Knights with Too Human or something.
If they can find a middle ground between NG2’s sheer insanity and NGSigma2’s decimated enemy count, they might be able to salvage this series…
Oh, and these…
Dump the fucking quick time events. Nobody likes quick time events. Even in the west.
Bring back them weapons. They barely have to do any work, the NG2 weapon movesets were awesome
Bring back de-limbing, dump the Steel on Bone, bring back Itagaki’s combat system
I too, am glad that Team Ninja admitted they erred in trying to change the nature of the game too much. That fact, along with Razor’s Edge gives me hope for the future of the series.
Having said that, Razor’s Edge looks like a much better product than NG3. The dismemberments, the weapons, ninpo, and other changes make me actually want to give it a shot (despite the bitter taste NG3 left me with). I hope it comes out for the 360/PS3/Vita, because I sure as hell have no desire to get a Wii U, but I would like to check out the changes they made.
Razor’s Edge coming to any other system is probably going to be dependent on if Nintendo is actually footing some of the bill for their port. Nintendo is actually the one publishing Razor’s Edge.
I would pay for a Sigma 3(Razor’s Edge) on Xbox, even with the same shitty story intact as long as the gameplay is revamped to that of the Wii-U version.
Did you not see video or read the article? It’s way more than just de-limb that’s been added. Steel on Bone mechanic has been greatly improved, Guillotine throw is back, more ninpo etc.
It’s still gonna be ass. Watch. Way more problems with NG3 then just a couple moves missing. All they’ve done is bring in stuff from the old games and said “we fixed it!”
I’m going to take a risk and go on record saying this game will eventually find its way to other consoles, call it a hunch. AKA this is a timed exclusive for WiiU.
I had to play NG3 on hard to get any challenge. Hard was like, normal on NG2, and de-limbs don’t bother me as much, but it’s like they made NG3 too easy.
I didn’t once get close to the feeling that I was gonna scream '‘OMG WTF HOW DID HE DO THAT?!’'like in previous Ninja Gaiden games (Especially Ninja Gaiden Black)
Wondering how much they’ll change the combat with the enemies…the de-limbs, decaps just seem like added animations to killing the enemies without on OT if they’re health depleted. NG3 leaves just about every normal enemy in the de-limb OT state before they die, so even when you Izuna drop them, they’ll crawl or walk around bleeding until you OT them. Unless they’re truly switching the enemy mechanics, now you’ll have the added suicide grabs when enemies are in OT state in a game that already centers around the enemies grabbing you while you’re zoomed in for an OT/SoB. Being able to cancel “from the recovery of just about any move” sounds like a quick fix to be thrown less. You can slide cancel plenty of shit already, almost to the point where if the enemies didn’t throw you, you’d be untouchable.
Changing the SoB to a counter attack might remove some ambiguity since no one seems to particularly understand how the damn system works anyways(I’m convinced it’s simply mashing X while you’re in some other animation frame). Since you already have the LT X or Y counters and they’re really loose on timing vs. NG2, I’m guessing timing’s not going to be an issue, and if you’re firing off attacks, you’ll just get lucky and SoB if the enemy happens to attack? The enemies in NG3 can hit you while you’re attacking(you’ll continue attacking and just take the damage anyway) or throw pretty much anytime, so i don’t see how this is gonna change for the better…do you wait around not attacking and simply hit X to counter for an SoB counter?:looney:
The footage of the desert massacre looked okay with the new kills and it’s nice to see the dual swords return, but that type of scene is the best NG3 is gonna get. Too many other shitty enemies and QTEs and idiotically designed boss battles(the dinosaur that trips and falls, the giant boss where you slash at it’s warts) It’s Ninja Gaiden so I’m interested, but I’ve seen how Hayashi “fixed” NG2 with Sigma2, and this game has fucktons more issues than 2…
