Savior for sure. You play them side by side and Hunter just feels massively dated and sluggish. Its not a bad game, but Savior juts developed the engine to a much more precise and smooth game, the game just feels so crisp
“Massively outdated and sluggish”?
I’ll admit its a different focus; still a bit fresh off its “SF focus” but that’s nonsense. For one thing, a lot of the characters have more options in Hunter than Saviour. Sas, Morrigan in particular. VS Morrigan seems very bare bones and linear to me. VS Demetri seems like a step down as well. I like the distance game in VH more, like someone said, so much of VS is about initiating offense and being able to get people off your ass with Advance guard. That’s fine, but its looks a bit silly to me at times and I personally wouldn’t call it deeper.
I wouldn’t call its “slow” either. Slower in comparison to VS, yes, but not slow. Definitely faster than other CPS2 games as well.
I have to agree that the lower tiers are bit further apart than VS though (particularly Victor and Hisen Ko); they just don’t do enough damage and for example, Victor’s 360 move doing less than Sas’s half-circle command grab doesn’t make much sense. Its not like VS doesn’t have its failings either though.
Daigo said he prefers Hunter to Savior.
And they still play Hunter in the DCC competition alongside Savior as well. Also, I can’t imagine playing VS anything like Street Fighter.
Tiers in savior seemed in my opinion to matter less than hunter because there just isn’t much to do tactics wise regardless of the character you pick. They all want to do the same thing and the only difference I saw when I played it was how they went about achieving it. Offensive rushdown and maintaining your rhythm to plummet the other person. The characters that seem to be top tier in the game are ones that have the best high low game and can really use their fast overheads to an advantage.
It just isn’t what I am in to and I find it boring.
I like the game that has an actual scene on GGPO which is Vampire Savior. No one ever goes in the vampire hunter room enough for me to have a true valid opinion on the game. The room is dead like 100% of the time 24/7. I’ve only played the game like one time with jedahsmin thats it. Which is to bad cause I would love to play the game but with a non-existent community I think I’ll pass.
guess where my allegiance lies.
I love how these guys all have opinions and I don’t see them in the VS room on ggpo. Stop talkn out your ass if you don’t play. The amount of useless BS opinions on srk is mind blowing.
You don’t see me in the VS ggpo room because I played the game plenty enough to get my opinion on it during the kaillera days and when the vampire irc channel used to host the weekly ranbats years ago and from those experiences realized I didn’t really like the gameplay. You mean the tell me I am not allowed to have an opinion on the game just because I don’t play it anymore? What a shit argument.
That is understandable. It is actually the reason I don’t really play hunter much anymore. Everybody rather play vs and I always felt like I was in the minority for preferring hunter.(Probably because I am)
well, I’ll tell you for a fact no one good played on kailera. GGPO actually has tournament players from japan who play, sometimes we get the masters from japan like ora ora and ddsas along with a few others like saviormeister.
so I take it you were playing with scrubs and therefore you opinion on the game is slightly skewed. You can have an opinion, it just won’t be a very good one.
However this is srk so swing for the fence. My opinion is based on pretty decent competition from the USA’s best and playing high level japan. What is your opinion based on?
Yea that must be it. The best players I played against back then were jedahsministriy and gbursine who are super known to be giant fucking scrubs at the game since they did indeed play on kailera…
Got ya.
Um, that’s because I play the game in the real world with real people, and because
I have a Mac. Once they get ggpo on mac, you’ll see me in there.
For me, it has a lot to do with the speed and the fact that it’s meant to be played more as a rushdown game. I feel like someone who’s good at SF2 could be good at NW without having to alter their playstyle TOO much, while that doesn’t seem as true of VS. But that’s just an observation based on my own experiences. I tried to play VS like SF and got owned whereas I was able to keep a lot of my old SF tactics in Night Warriors and be relatively okay.
lol, thats all you got???
how bout this new guys. I’m on ggpo right now, come see me.
Go play you in a game I haven’t played in years that I don’t even like? I am cumming in my pants with anticipation. But no need if you think those players are scrubs and are better than them then you are better than me hands down.
Though I would love to see how you’d beat me without offensive rushdown which is basically how you win in vampire savior which is my argument for why I don’t like the game in the first place that you seem to disagree with.
Telling that your only argument here is “you are bad im betterz than you LOL”
you should learn to brock dat! because my shit is not unbrockabre!
Battosai told me that the Jap/Chin players are there early in the morning (for our time zone). I went in there around 1-2ish AM and I found a couple consistently. But yeah, that’s not really what I want to be doing that early in the morning, I admit.
I like both games and what they do differently…just like VH a teensy bit more after finally getting to spend time with it. I’d be glad to play VH with you if want.
Anyway, fuck this thread now. Should have know this was going to turn into some *** versus debate. People act like just because they like one game that means they gotta bash the other.
I can see why people like both games, but I’m far and away in the Vampire Hunter camp.
No! It’s impossiber! Damn flame advantage!
Should of blocked high on the over hed so you can push block. you’re gonna against Jedah you should of saw his overhead from a mile away if you actually played more than once.
ROFL! You have no idea how hard I laughed at this.
I never noticed the aforementioned speed difference. Maybe its because I played NW like VS. I just wish NW had more balance because some characters feel cheap (like “no charge” Rikuo, and “WTF powah unleashed” Morrigan) while others seem half done (Donovan). At least VS’s cast is fleshed out. Even characters like Lilith/Anakaris feel complete.
I wish Capcom would release a mesh between both with all characters included. Chronicles released on PSN with online support would suffice
My only issue with that is that Capcom will likely have Backbone port the DC version (Vampire Chronicle for Matching Service) meaning that the netcode will be buggy as hell and they’ll end up trying to “fix” the game therefore ruining it.
